The way I read it, it means if it's still in effect this fall there will be no football, high school or college. You can't even play with no refs and no subs if you can only have 20 people. Maybe/hopefully I'm wrong.

If Reeves thinks the risk is too high for college football, Keenum will agree.

If I was the rest of the SEC I would be more concerned about coming to Ms to play football than I was the flag. If we can't get our **** together we don't deserve football.

We are going to play football this year and we are going to have fans. The fact that you still haven't been able to figure this out yet is mind boggling. Our governor is not going to stop SEC football.

Tate is not going to be the one to stop CFB in MS this fall. If Sankey says let’s go, and all indications are the the SEC is going to do everything they can to play, Tate is not going to stand in the way.

FWIW: Last week, Cohen told Paul Jones that he was very confident we would be playing SEC football this fall.

So y'all are saying the SEC will defy the health experts if they advise against playing? All it's going to take is one state.....and two have already said it won't happen if things don't get better.

I hope you are right, but you speak with authority and knowledge that you don’t have. There are a lot of people still trying to figure out a lot of things. Football is one of them. It is far from decided.

Defy health experts by playing baseball basketball golf and soccer???

I sometimes think L4 loves all the negativity. You literally post something negative in every thread related to sports

Are you saying he doesn’t have the authority or are you saying he won’t defy the SEC?

He has the authority, but he doesn't have the nuts. If the sec plays, state and OM will, and Tate will keep his mouth shut.

Anyone who has not figured out that the SEC is going to play football this year is willfully ignorant.

I’m saying that if Reeves decides the current case rates don’t support amateur athletic events, the SEC isn’t going to be able to do much about it.

You might make the point that Reeves doesn’t have the political capital, but whatever Reeves says MSU / Keenum will follow.

That's really funny. I get blasted regularly for being overly positive during football season.

Anyone that emphatically sAys we will play it won't play right now is just talking with an empty head. The SEC and MSU are making plans to play, as they should. They won't be the ones who make the decision though. That will be the governments in the states, and possibly even in the local areas. The people that will decide it don't know one way or another right now. Now for predictions with no real knowledge of how the powers that be are thinking here are the odds as I see it as if today: starting the season 70% at some point, finishing it as scheduled the day we start 55%; any fans in the stadium; 50%; full capacity 0%.

Well that’s too bad.
You ha e no idea how I'm living my life. It's pretty normal actually. We did have to cancel our vacation....but it's kind of hard to do a cruise in Europe right now....impossible actually.

Did you just equate the importance of military training with a football game? Surely you didn't. That has to go on, football is a game.

I don’t look at it as defiance. Health organizations are only offering guidance, and while much of it needs to be taken into consideration, it’s easy to say what groups should or shouldn’t be doing when it’s not your pocketbook that’s being affected.

This is why we won't play if we don't. Once school starts back this will be even more common.

“It’s getting to the point where I would not be surprised if they shifted all athletics to the spring,” continues Shalala

I don’t get why people keep saying this...what’s magic about spring? Yes, if by some miracle Covid “goes away” then maybe it makes sense. I seem to remember being locked in my house this past spring.
College football in the spring would be a farce. Anyone with a chance at being drafted ain’t playing.

The only thing "magical" about the spring is if we absolutely can not play in the fall, the only option is to hope upon hope there's some slim chance we might be able to play in the spring. It's not much, but if we can't play in the fall, it's the only chance we've got.

With the Marlin's news today, thinking we will have more than players families as fans at games is a dream. and even that is just a hope.

You might want to mentally prepare yourself for not having football....
