less than 300 hundred the day before, right after record highs.

That's just testing going slow, right? It's not really dropping off that sharply?

Depends on who you are listening too. When folks say that cases are going up due to an increase in testing then the Coronabros all say "that's not true it's more than that". But when you say that cases have trended downward over a couple of days the Coronabros say that it's because "reduced testing".

So...number of tests only count depending on what your motives and beliefs are at this point.

Usually numbers have run low on the weekends (besides the previous two weekends). They tend to pick back up on Tuesday usually

I'm no doctor but while it's an initially positive sign, I'd like to see the number of hospitalizations and folks in ICU decrease.

3 day holiday weekend. Doctors and nurses still working, data entry types not so much. Expect big numbers Tuesday and Wednesday when they get caught up on reporting.

Testing reporting is probably down for a few days because of the 3rd and 4th. Tuesday's numbers might be more telling.

Hopefully there's still not a jump in numbers.

If they are down because of people not reporting on the holiday that means when they catch up, the day they report will have more than they would have had if the cases were reported on time. So Tuesday will be bloated with extra cases like the holiday was less Right? (Not a comment or argument just a real question.)

Yes, Tuesday Wednesday will be inflated. Best to focus on 7 day average.

Most primary care offices were closed Friday-Sunday. Many were closed Thursday as well. We will see toward the end of the week if it's a trend. Hopefully it is.

I can tell you for a fact that they are having a hard time keeping up with the number of people getting tested, especially over the weekend. It's been five days since I was swabbed, and I still don't have my results back yet. The clinic said that their lab has been working 24/7 and is still backlogged. The line to get tested at Baptist DeSoto last week was nearly four hours long, per a respiratory therapist friend who was sitting in it herself.

Actually Mississippi hasn't been testing that many more. Our rate of positives is 13% and climbing.

I went fishing with a Dr buddy of mine this weekend. Thursday he said his little clinic in Hattiesburg tested over 400 people in one day. That was the biggest number they had done so far. He said the majority was people coming in without symptoms, but just want to be tested.

Has there been another event in our history where people who weren’t sick wanted to be tested at these levels? Seems really odd to me, and I just don’t think I would get tested unless I was showing symptoms.

Was just about to ask why the heck anyone would want to get tested if they're not having symptoms or been directly exposed to someone with the virus.

Are they going in for one of the antibodies tests? Which i think take like 15 minutes to get your results back?

Or are they going in for the regular test?

If we are getting our backlog back to almost a week and still testing people who are asymptomatic and aren't being tested b/c of expousre, that's incredibly stupid. Surely there aren't that many people doing that. Who would be paying for those tests?

Is the primary means of testing still the q-tip jammed into your brain? My MIL had to have a test before she started her radiation treatments and all she had to do was blow her nose and then they just went a little ways in. Wondering if that is the new norm or not.

Yes. Through your brain, actually.

I agree, and here, you can't go get tested just because you want to be tested. You have to have some reason or a referral.

It’s odd though with the numbers increasing, I knew several (8-10) that had it early including 3-4 that died from it but I’ve known of no one personally that has tested positive in the last 4-5 weeks. But Tippah was a hotspot in March, hopefully it’s cooled even with very busy First Monday’s the last couple months
