Did you hear what Brett said. It is impossible to to compare Pat Tillman and Colin Kap. It's like comparing me an Brett. I never played quarterback.
Brett lost all my respect.
Brett lost all my respect.
As usual, sixpack has slightly misinterpreted something just enough to get all bent out of shape.
Oh, not much. Just taking over $1,000,000 for work he never did from a grant program that was supposed to help poor people. Allegedly.**
He’s not wrong. Some view Kap as this guy that sacrificed his success for a social statement. I don’t believe that, but some view it that way, so he is right in that respect.
So today right now. Do you view Kap as a hero or not?
So today right now. Do you view Kap as a hero or not?
I understand that people view Kaepernick as a hero and even though I don’t see it that way, others can certainly view things however they want.
That said, I just don’t see the Tillman comparison at all. Kap may have lost out on future earnings but banked $43 million in his NFL career and later signed a multi-million dollar deal with Nike for taking the stand that he’s taken. Pat Tillman walked away from the NFL and ended up dying in war.
One guy lost out on a few years of his career but is still making good money and may get another shot in the NFL, the other guy lost his life at 27 years old. I’m sorry, but those aren’t remotely the same things.
ETA: don’t have a problem with anybody viewing both guys in a positive light, just think it’s two incredibly different situations.
Clarification, Pat Tillman was killed by friendly fire after beginning to make it known he hated the war and was strongly against it. Felt betrayed by his country that we were fighting it and was considering coming out with those beliefs. I always like to add this to people who use Tillman as a propaganda piece to drum up patriotism.
I respect the hell outta Tillman for what he did, but every time he is mentioned it should be mentioned what his opinion was about that’s at after he joined it and got there.
He still ought to be proscuted for it. Let a healthcare provider do that with Medicaid and see what happens. It may take a while, but you lose your liscense, pay it back, and very probably go to jail. Because it's Brett he get to just pay it back without being charged. He's repaid part of it. Supposed to repay all. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/brett-favre-mississippi-welfare-scandal-repay/
Favre is a joke. To compare Kapernick to Tillman just proves the guy has no grasp on reality.
It doesn't help him that he kinda went off the rails a bit all around the same time. I think that if he could have articulated the message without the crazy, it MIGHT have gone better for him?
