You know, we lost a great bulldog this weekend. After losing his wife last year, the only thing that kept him going was the grandchildren and MSU. Most of that was taken away from him this year due to the lockdowns. No sports in person, limited family interaction, no meeting friends at the Starkville Cafe. The effect on his health was obvious.

He obviously was aware of the what it was doing to him and decided to either “get busy dying, or get busy living.” We were able to spend much more time with him recently as he valued the time with family/independence much more than the risk of Covid. I can’t imagine if he would have passed away and we had followed the advice of some on here and not seen him for the last 4 months.

Sorry if this comes across as crass, but you can take that sanctimonious crap somewhere else. This is not the binary choice L4 and others make it out to be. If you don’t think there are just as many negative effects from SIP place etc, then you are not in the real world.

Ironic that I asked somebody recently, if you knew you only had a year to live and it was living in your basement or living your life and risk getting the Corona, which would you do? I am glad my dad made the choice to live with the time he had left.

Yes, I agree.

Sorry to hear about your dad. My condolences sir.

He’s not risking the lives of others if the vulnerable would stay their *** at home like they are supposed to. This virus isn’t going anywhere. Only fools think it is. If you are pinning your hopes on a vaccine from the CDC... Lol well good luck with that. Those clowns can’t get the flu vaccine correct.

That's why there are no cases in LTC facilities in Mississippi... They are all locked down, and have been since March, and due to that, there have been 0 cases. Because the" lock down the vulnerable "is working****

So can the flu, and water, and pit bulls, and ex-wives. If you are going to attempt to make valid points, don’t equate covid and HIV.
HIV isn't a death sentance here anymore. It can be treated. Covid in some people can't. Perhaps you need better education.

Like the flu can. Doesn't mean HIV and flu are similar.

Not saying he isn't a huge *** hole if he was waiting on a test b/c he was exposed or symptomatic and he still went. But still not in the same universe as knowingly exposing somebody to an STD.

Getting exposed to respiratory illnesses is just a risk that you assume when you go out. People go out with the cold and the flu and other stuff all the time. It's a different level going on vacation when you have been exposed to covid, but still more in the huge *** hole territory not attempted murderer.

So if he starts a chain of infection when he knowingly went out when he wasn't supposed to, and people who get it from him or his contacts die, he is just an *******. Got it. Say it was your Mom or your diabetic kid, would you still think that way?

And covid is a death sentence for everyone who catches it? Good grief man. Just give it two more weeks, things might be bad enough for you to be right**

Oh it will, and somehow portions of the media will blame Mississippi for it. It ticks me off that those of us that took this seriously and followed the guidelines put out watched all of it thrown out the window with the rioters and protests all the while the media cheered it on. Now we’re getting chastised by the same people in the media for returning back to work/church/vacation. The blatant hypocrisy is absolutely revolting. These folks would’ve made great commissars behind the iron curtain.

The mainstream media (most of them) are 100% to blame for most of our nations problems and divisions. Somewhere down the road they decided to go down this path and there is no turning back now. They have ruined their credibility with every red blooded American and I don't understand why some people continue to watch and click.

People who have been exposed and tested are supposed to stay home too. If he knew he might have it and he went anyway, that behavior is absolutely indefensible.

This just happened in previously hot zone New York.

Who is blasting these people as potential killers?? Super spreaders?? Any major network? Why not? You seriously believe no one in this crowd is positive?

Why is this acceptable but someone else cannot go on vacation?

Why was a Memorial Day crowd in the Ozarks condemned in the news for a week but not a word about this??

Once you allow some groups exemptions to the hysteria, the hysteria collapses as a whole. No freakin way am I being held to standards in MS while you let massive crowds assemble unabated and unchecked without consequence in a city that was one of the worldwide hotbeds a short time ago.

if you are not blowing up the leaders of New York over this, save your breath with us in rural MS.

There are ranges, but short of assuming the worst of the guy, he's probably just an *** hole.

It's possible he was tested b/c of symptoms, and he went down there and he's hanging out in crowded bars, coughing, not washing his hands, invading people's personal spaces and touching everything in site, etc. That's above and beyond *** holishness.

It's possible he was tested b/c of exposure, has no symptoms and rather than eat the cost of his entire vacation, has driven down, washed his hands fastidiously and not touched anything other than a gas pump on the entire trip and wiped down the handle with disinfectant afterwards, ordered groceries to the condo or house, used the stairwell rather than elevator if he's in a condo, and generally relaxed at the beach 6 ft away from everybody while exposing fewer people than he would have if he had gone to the grocery store in his home town. I would say that's not *** holish at all.

I'm assuming he's probably somewhere in the middle because most people are.

It's clear you don't understand how this is really transmitted, By your references to the infected person being an ******* or not by how much he washes his hands and what he touches.

Might want to actually learn about how he infected people, and not just make up **** you know nothing about.

It's true I'm more or less reliant on the medical community and places like the CDC to determine how it spreads. Granted the CDC has not exactly covered itself in glory with this deal, but based on what is known about coronaviruses in general, I don't think I'm being too naive when I trust their guidance on potential methods of transmission.

Whoosh...

How would washing an infected persons hands prevent the spread?

Whoosh...

How would washing an infected persons hands prevent the spread?

Lots of people touch their hands to their nose or mouth or cough or sneeze into their hands. Even though it is not thought to be a primary method of transmission, they still believe touching contaminated objects and then touching ones mouth, nose, or eyes is a possible method of transmission. That is why the CDC recommends routinely disinfecting commonly touched surfaces, and why doing things like washing your hands or using hand sanitizer prior to touching something like a gas pump handle or door handles would potentially be helpful to limit transmission.

I understand the difficulties of government organizations ignoring politics, but if something isn't important enough for them to stay apolitical for, then they can't expect the public to believe it's that important.

BINGO.

If you have to weigh the political outcome of dispersing a huge crowd... it isn’t too important to disperse that huge crowd.

And if it isn’t too important to disperse that huge crowd.. do not begin to say anything about anyone else in a crowd.

As soon as it’s ok for anyone else, it is then ok for everyone else. Don’t even try to put that genie back in the bottle.

I am more scared of that 100 pound women driving that 2000 pound SUV 80 miles an hour up the Interstate than I am of the virus. In fact I am not scared of the virus at all and I am scared as hell of that 100 pound women. Going on vacation Thursday.

You think your scared now , try riding a motorcycle. I think every soccer mom in a Suburban has to pull out or swap lanes in front of a motorcycle at least once a day or they lose their car pool card. FYI, a Suburban weighs closer to 7000 than 2000.

I honestly don't understand how anybody does it. I get the appeal of a motorcycle, but I don't get it being appealing enough to put my life in other drivers' hands any more than I already do in a car. Not sure if I ever could have done it, but I definitely can't do it with so many distracted drivers out there.

Still not getting it...

How does an infected person washing their hands or putting hand sanitizer on before he touches a gas pump, reduce the spread, of a respiratory disease? Do you respirate via your hands? Are you saying he is holding his breath while pumping gas?
Since you theoretical person was able to touch their nose or mouth, they cannot be wearing a face mask.

Without a face mask, his hand washing and cleaning surfaces is like sweeping the infield dirt at a baseball park to keep your shoes clean.

And per usual, you didn't even read your own link...
[h=1]How COVID-19 Spreads[/h]
  • Through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks.
  • These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

A better and more knowledgeable example of him being an ******* might be he refused to wear a mask.

What you should know by now, is that an infected person wearing a mask to capture an coalesce droplets reduces the spread. Handwashing reduces the spread to uninfected people but reducing the chance they infect themselves from where droplets have landed on a surface. That's why the CDC wants people to disinfect commonly touched surfaces.

But obviously are more interested in condemning the medical community, and making up random **** without knowing what you are talking about...

I don't believe you are as dense or stupid as you pretend to be sometimes. But I'll bite anyway. Are you just pretending that I didn't note that transmission by contact isn't the primary method of transmission? Or do you have some sort of cite you're waiting to provide that says somebody that sneezes into their hands can't transfer the virus to an object when he/she touches it? Or some sort of reasoning that would be the case?

You are almost too wise. Just last week, I ran into my ex-wife at the beach, swimming with her pet pit bull. after a brief encounter, I feared she had given me COVID. As it turned out, it was only HIV.

Ridden my whole life but the constant cell phone usage has slowed my riding down tremendously. My wife has quit altogether. I ride defensively, I automatically assume that every car that pulls up to the road I'm on is going to pull out in front of me. I've ridden to Canada and back but I'm not sure that I would do it again.

Nephew who refused to quarantine was in orange beach last week.
Tested positive today.
Good luck older people, fat people, preexisting condition people, oh and random seemingly healthy people.
He just spun the chamber and pulled the trigger. Hope it’s a blank for all you nay sayers who worship at the alter of The Fake News.

So, are you rooting for your nephew to live or die?
