All claim ignorance on source of funding for money

Which may very well be true but I haven’t read or heard any of them saying they’re going to give the money back!

Of course they do. But Favre's been implicated in a couple of pretty bad scams lately. And even if he didn't know where the money was coming from, if he pocketed $1M for personal appearances he didn't make, it doesn't really matter where the money was coming from.

Serious question.
Why would someone pay anyone money to do nothing? I mean you pay one person, ok you owed that person something.

But why would you go through the trouble to steal, embezzle, etc to pay all or a lot of that money to other people for.....doing nothing.

It doesn’t make sense right now.

They pay people out of the DHS and take a cut for either themselves through a shell account, a politician gets a sizable donation, or someone with influence is paid. The investigations tend to stop at the person responsible for the embezzlement, unfortunately. There is a lot more iceberg below the water, I can assure you.

To receive that much money without providing anything for it (work, appearances, speeches, use of name or likeness, etc) is stealing. Brett should know better.

Fairley was convicted of defrauding the gov't of about $60,000. These folks took tens of millions.

I just don’t understand this. Do these people really think they’ll get away with that forever.
Stealing from welfare is about as low as it gets

The auditors office announced today he is paying back the $1M, and is apparently willing to let that be the end of it, with no criminal investigation.

That non-profit & New family has been in the news as fraudulent for over a year now. Convenient that Favre forgot all about the $1M from the fraudulent non-profit until the report got released.

Don't know if Shad would dare go after them, but you can bet at least a half dozen legislators who were supposed to have oversight were in on this. Not to mention the damn governor's office. This was going on for four years. Both the legislature and guv's office are required to do an annual accounting.
BTW, who was the last state auditor?
