Requiring all public businesses to have their employees and customers wear masks.

Seems over reactionary? Prior to the special call meeting today I had not heard any possible discussion of masks being required. Seems like this may have been rushed through without considering public and/or expert opinion.

$1,000 fine. They called the meeting without alerting media or giving adequate public notice so no one would be there to protest. Sneaky mfers trying to innovate revenue

From what i have heard was it can only get into your body through nose, mouth and eyes. Is the mask to protect you or to protect someone else. Either way if it is in the air and you walk into it and you have a mask stands to reason it would still get into your eyes.

The UK is very densely populated though, so there's good reason for the mask requirement.

Memphis announced the same thing today. Will probably be required throughout most of the country

The biggest thing a mask does (other than N95) is serve as a visual aid/reminder that we are out of the thicket, but we're not out of the entire woods yet....

Harris County, Texas (Houston) passed it last week and the police union said they wouldn't enforce it...

Did they specify what a mask must consist of?

Just wondering ?

I'm not again' it, but people passing thru, may not get the message,

or have the required mask.

I've never understood how police could on their own decide which laws to enforce and which ones not to enforce. Their job is to enforce the laws, not decide which are good and which are not good.

No laws that I know of involve mask wearage. All of this mess is unconstitutional as hell. The lawyers will sort it all out in the SummerFall.

Are they planning on supplying the masks? It's not as easy to get them as I thought.

it’s called officer discretion and that’s with all laws. But don’t worry we wouldn’t come to your house and take your guns either if they told us to take them because we believe in the constitution.

This is one of the few areas I’m not an expert in**

But doesn’t requiring a mask open up a bunch of OSHA requirements. Are these places, including city hall, prepared for that?

I have supported local business since all of this started. We have eaten out several times just because we knew the restaurants were hurting for business but I will be taking my business to West Point and Columbus instead of wearing a mask everywhere I go. If enough people do the same the city will get enough pressure to allow people to make their own decisions. The same decisions supported by local health officials versus out of control aldermen.

I’m not sure how this mandate would hold up to a challenge. I’m no lawyer, but a city mandated requirement to do business somewhere seems like a major overreach of power to me.
