Apple closed every retail location worldwide for 2 weeks.

So the Apple Stores are closed? I wonder if it has anything to do with all their products being made in China, and presumably they can't get product shipments now.

Not sure I want to follow the French lead on anything. They welcomed Nazi invaders in with roses and French wine.

We should be closing a lot more than we have. Starting with restaurants and bars. We will eventually. Every day we wait will cost hundreds if not thousands of lives.

Yep and the longer we wait the worse it will be for the economy. Places are going to shut down. If you don't want to be proactive and start doing it now because it could save lives.......at least doing for the economy.

We will have to do some extreme shut downs. The longer we wait the worse the shut down will be. Do it early we might get to reopen fairly quickly....wait to late it could be a long shut down

I have come a long ways in changing my thoughts on this. I respect the decisions that were made. Admit it’s not all media induced. Dramatic changes to wife, 2 adult children in schools and my job. But I do think some of y’all over reaction is still ridiculous. Makes me wonder What you have stockpiled to sell

Hopefully you are right, but I don't think so. Signs generally point to us going down Italy's path. Our hospitals will probably be overwhelmed and we will almost certainly go into a similar lockdown, potentially within a week. Folks should prepare for this to drag on for a while.

This is the issue. We don’t have the healthcare system to handle this. That’s our number one and main concern/issue. So, shutting down now and being extra cautious is the right move. Otherwise, there is a huge risk for our hospitals to because overwhelmed and loose thousands of lives

So you are say that you now understand why people were in your opinion, “over reacting”, and see that it’s a big deal, but still...whatever you ******** are still overreacting..

Might as well give it up. People didn’t understand the concept 3 days ago, I doubt they’ve learned since..

The Trump administration , I.e. Mike Pence should have gotten on TV day 1, with a big chart trying to explain this important concept. Big Fail on their part.

Look, I understand why people think this way, but Italy was at 60 deaths less than two weeks ago. They had the attitude that many Americans have right now. Now they're at almost 1500. Their hospitals are overwhelmed and they're basically sending their oldest patients away to die while treating those who they have a better chance of saving.

It is good to hope that things turn out differently here. We all should. But make no mistake, downplaying the risks only puts more people in jeopardy.

I understand this and do disagree. But how long does that need to last? If we shut down for 2 or 3 weeks and slow the spread, is that enough? What happens if it starts spreading again after a 3 week shutdown. Do we shutdown again?

I’m not being a smart *** in those questions. It’s a legit ask. I think most reasonable people could get on board with a short term shut down but there has to be an end game. Which to me feels like is missing.

Are you implying there are other health care systems that can "handle" this?

I don't think we know. The alternative is to let it run its course which will be terrible for at risk people, but more importantly will shut down the entire healthcare system. The death toll from that will certainly be much higher than just the virus. Look at Italy. They had 60 deaths two weeks ago, the entire country is shut down and the hospitals are full. That's what we are trying to avoid.

Yes when people are stockpiling items for way more than a few months and making it more difficult for others. I call that overreacting. Actually I’d call it something else

I have asked this among friends as well. The ugly answer is, at some point we may be asking how many deaths are acceptable.

I don’t think we’ll get an answer until months or years from now. Either we’ll find out that we are overreacting to an undefined degree or that we severely under reacted to a devastating degree. I think there’s really only one option to choose.

Italy is already demonstrating we aren't overreacting. This is going to be part of the world from now on and we have to figure out how to deal with it, but we do know if everybody just acts like that now we'll shut down the national healthcare system pretty quickly.

How we get to the end of this is my concern as well. Regardless of what we do in the US, as long as the virus is still active and spreading in other countries, there will always be a chance of it spreading here again as long as there is international travel.

The idea is to slow the spread. Same number of people get infected over longer period. After that critical mass has been infected and recovered, it wont "spread" the same here again due to herd immunity. It will never go away, but after that point we are out of danger of it overwhelming the health care capacity.
