Can we ban or put in timeout anyone who starts a political thread? Another board I’m on somehow putS people in timeout when they do something stupid.
It’s too polarizing I don’t come here for that.
I’ve been guilty of getting in there and saying crazy **** just to get the thread locked.

There is no SPS law that says you have to open every thread and read it. I am with you on the political stuff but hell I just don't click on it.

If only it were that easy, but it starts with a thread about a recruit, then someone mentions that he's from Chicago, then someone mentions that it's a cesspool of violence, then gun control comes up and before you know it BOOM, innocuous thread turned political and then you HAVE to defend your far left/right opinion to the hilt as if any truth were in any of it.

What always gets me is when it's a purely sports thread, then out of nowhere somebody has to drop "that's just like when Democrats/Republicans/libtards/trumpkins/nra ********/gun control idiots/fascists/socialists/greasers/socs lie about Republicans/Democrats/trumpkins/libtards/gun control idiots/nra ********/socialists/fascists/socs/greasers"...

Yeah... you're right... Alabama gray shirting a recruit is just like that.

So you are aware, I' ve been put in timeout on here. Since my time out period, tried so hard to stay away from it. But when I see stupid threads on Mary Jane, I cannot help it!

Would be nice to have this board as the one single place where political **** doesn’t come up all the time. And it only gets worse in election years. I realize we are all bombarded with 24/7 political news on TV and social media, but MSU sports can be a much needed escape from that.

What better place to solve the problems of the country than a MSU sports message board? I'm in agreement, those huge threads with everybody yelling at each other are a pain in the ***.

Why not just add a political board? Start a thread or legalize weed or abortion - it gets moved there.

Isn’t that what Elite’s “bovine sciences” (or whatever it’s called) is?

Or instead of banning people how about certain posters quit acting like a bunch of pussies and ignore it. If I don’t see something I care about I just move on to the next thread. It’s really not that hard.

Why not just not read the **** you don't like ? There is no rule that you have to read it and no rule that you have to comment on it.

You aren’t going to change anyone’s mind about anything on the internet. Unless someone is asking a question everyone thinks their opinion is the best.

Because sometimes it shows up in a good thread and you dont know its there until
you have read it like the Binghampton baseball stadium thread

9. This is a sports message board. Non-sports posts should go to the non-sports board. We don't have a non-sports board, so therefore, you should leave now.

This place continues to go away from why it was so 17ing awesome 10+/- years ago. Change in life is inevitable, but sticking to the rules would certainly slow that change. Or if the rules that made this place awesome have changed, then change the rules.

I think it's a natural outcropping of a community. SPS is a community of folks who feel like they practically know the personalities that post here. It's like a group of dysfunctional friends that never meet in person and like to discuss everything. This is basically the group of dudes who meets at the local McDonalds every morning for breakfast, talks/argues about everything. Does it again tomorrow. Except the analogy falls apart in many ways, but you get the general idea. It's inevitable.

Well I agree there but I must have missed understood what this thread was about. I thought he used the term start a thread.

We have a political ad ban at home. Any political ad comes on and we hit fast forward or change the channel... not matter who the ad is for.

I actually used to enjoy following politics and the election process until we as a nation lost our civility and manners. ALL of these 17ers act like petulant children holding their breath till they get what they want.

Chicago is a great town. If more law abiding citizens would shoot some of those criminals, all the problems you libs say they have would be solved.****
