I wouldn't hang my hat on what Rosey says. He's shot a lot of air balls recently.

Costello is Leach's Newton. One is ringing cowbells at the Egg Bowl, the other is up in State Theater.

I hope Leach's tenure turns out as good as Mullen's, after he whiffed on the big fish early. But damn, it would be nice to catch the big fish once in a while.

He is also saying how he has a lot of confidence in Shrader to be the guy and that he will be fine. In other words, get ready for Shrader to be QB1

Some of you guys roll over like a $20 prostitute.

Yep. When are people going to realize that the 247 insiders have basically been clueless for the past few months? They’ve really been struggling to find sources since Dan left, IMO. Paul Jones was “99% sure“ Sark was going to be the next coach, then said he thought Costello would commit as soon Leach gave him the okay. Rosebowl I suppose has been a little bit better but not much. They are both pretty much guessing right now, just as the UW people probably are. No one has actually talked to the guy because he is still in school and not doing interviews.

Here is what we know. Costello has taken an OV to State and UW. He has not made a commitment to either program and could take even more visits. Leach is apparently still going to see him tomorrow, so he must think there is at least a chance.

There are pros and cons to both opportunities. We have a coach that has proven as well as anyone in the country that he can make QBs shine, but we also play in a beast of a division and are transitioning to a new scheme. UW is closer to home in a league he is more familiar with and been a more successful program recently; however, Peterson isn’t the coach anymore and this new staff’s ability to showcase is not as proven as Leach’s system.

I don’t know if we get the guy, but the defeatist attitude of some people is hilarious. This is the most sought after QB in the country- did you really think other programs weren’t going to try to recruit Costello? Even if Costello goes elsewhere, Mike Leach is going to identify QBs and make us competent at that position. Chill.

None of those guys know where he's going. They all had him "trending" Mississippi State a week ago. Leach has a visit tomorrow night. We'll see what happens. I'm pretty confident our QB this fall will put up one of the best passing seasons in our history, whether that's Costello, Brice, another transfer, or Shrader.

I'd like to see Costello come here, but didn't he end up in the portal because he's been injured for over a year and lost his starting job?

If he comes, great. I'll be excited. But let's not start lamenting over another glass QB.

He got hurt playing PAC 12 opponents. Maybe he's afraid to play in the SEC West. Do you blame him?

Leach hasn't officially whiffed yet has he? You never know what his decision will be. But then Starkville may be more foreign to him than we imagine since he's from the Bay Area (a strange place by many standards).

I don't think that's the issue, if there is an issue. A person can get hurt anytime, anywhere and even the Pac 12 isn't sandlot football.

He's over the injury. He entered the ports because he had a year of eligibility left and didn't get accepted into Stanford grad school.

How does the starting QB not get accepted into grad school? I know Stanford is a great academic school, but I'm calling ******** on him not being accepted into their grad school until I see a solid source that says otherwise.

Not saying it’s proof that it’s the grad school thing but Costello’s replacement didn’t really light it up after KJ’s injury. One would think he’d be welcomed back if it was an option.

if he wants to play in the nfl, he will play for leach. Washington just about ruined Eason, and their new coach has never been a HC and is a DC.

Here is a fact. He is not going to MSU, Washington, or anywhere else to attend grad school and pursue a graduate degree. He is going to play football one more year. If he comes to MSU, he is here for fall semester and then gone at spring. Same if he goes anywhere else. If he wants to get attention headed into NFL draft, is there a better place than State where he could play in Leach’s Air RAID system against SEC competition? I think not.

All you idiots hating on Rosebowl are simpletons. Do you really not get it? He will never know everything, and who cares if he doesn't? He's a good bulldog who promotes MSU and does the best he can with the info that he has. Those guys pretty much work all the time and I can guarantee you they aren't getting rich off of 247 salaries/profits. They do it because they love it. As long as they aren't snarky they don't really bother me.

Even Hadad with his hot take-ery is alright, as long as Joel is there is balance him out. But none of these guys are going to be 'right' all the time so no point judging them on that. They are good entertainment.

Just let them give you the info on MSU sports and form your own opinion. If you want 'facts', well, wait until it comes out in the mainstream. These guys are there to give up to the minute news and that's not always going to be accurate.

Nobody is “hating” on anyone. Nothing about what they do should bother anyone. I read the 247 stuff. They do a good job covering baseball scrimmages and put out a lot of good content.

I’m just saying, don’t hang on their every word when it comes to recruiting news or coaching search gossip. They have to do a lot of guessing on that end and are wrong quite often. Generally their opinions are only slightly more informed than the people who regularly read message boards.

I’ll say this about our QB situation. If we end up missing on Costello and landing Peyton Ramsey or even the guy from Clemson instead, we should be in very good hands next season IMO. As long as the QB is accurate and can make a read/progression, he can be successful in this offense.

Leach took a transfer that no one wanted in 2018 and made him a Heisman contender. He then replaced that QB with a guy who had never played a meaningful snap of college football, and offensively they did not miss a beat. If anything, the passing game was even more prolific. We won’t be at that level next year, but Leach knows how to identify/develop QBs and put a competent offensive product on the field.

Rosey just reported to not trust any media reports on his recruitment, then proceeded to report on his recruitment. Classic Rosebowl.

Ha. All these "crystal balls" and stuff are ridiculous to begin with. Generally, when a kid makes his mind up where he's going, he goes ahead and commits. If the kid himself doesn't know where he's going, how are the "experts" going to know.

Insider college subscriptions are one of the bigger scams going

Granted they don't cost you an arm and a leg, but the gist of what is being said on pay sites get reported on the free boards. Then there's all the free social media that is about as good at disseminating information as Steve and Yancy. It's a suckers game to pay these people.

Let me see if u get this.

Costello is a former HS 4 star with a .9735 rating.

Brice is a former HS 3 star with a .854 rating

Ramsey is a former HS 3 star with a .832 rating.

Currently on campus we have 2 4 stars with ratings above .92 and a 4 star with just around .90

All are dual threat, but much higher rated than our 2nd and 3rd potential transfer.

We just signed a high 3 star out of high school o who is in campus and in the S& C program right now. He is a Pro style.

If we don’t get Costello, why would we go after former 3 stars?
