Let’s talk about Auburn

Yeah, you see NFL coaches make horrible decision all the time. I think they get in the weeds with so many other things that they struggle with common sense decisions. They should have realized we could have beaten USM with Dedrick Thomas playing DT, but they don't think that way.
The CEO type head coaches don't make that mistake as much. But if you are like Mullen and Moorhead and Malzahn and still trying to call plays and stuff like that, yes you tend to miss things.

Only chance we have is if Tommy TD has the game of his life, combined with Bo Nix having the worst game of his thus far short career.

These are the types of games we hired JoMo to win (eventually). Unfortunately for us at the moment, our QB is hurt.

Yeah, those coaches make stupid mistakes too. Nick Saban cost his team most of its losses for about a 2-3 year period by stubbornly insisting on attempting long field goals with bad kickers. It cost him the LSU game the year they came back and beat LSU for the national title. I think he finally learned his lesson when Auburn bit him in the *** though.

I mean, No, I don't. I'll happily eat crow if wrong.

We're not likely to win. I say we got a 35% chance to win. Those aren't good odds. The point is we're capable of the upset. It's not like we're +24 to these guys.

Are you seriously using Nick Saban as an example of coaches that make mistakes? No one is saying that no coaches make mistakes. I'm saying that some types make LESS. Not sure why I have to spell this out.

We were down 7-0 or it was 0-0 but we stripped the QB as he tried to throw it and it bounced perfectly into Sweats hands which would have been an easy scoop and score but they blew the play dead as incomplete which isn't reviewable. They should have let the play run then reviewed it but they didn't and we were screwed out of 7 points.

It was a very clear fumble or at the very least a very clear let the play finish then review if needed. Incompetence or home cooking by the refs. We got blown out anyway, but still it was a big momentum play early in the game.

We got blown out b/c partly b/c Auburn was an awful matchup for us and partly because we were just headcases on the road for the most part for 2016 through 2018. You give us a good start like that and it probably makes a significant difference. Still had matchup problems b/c we didn't have a legitimate passing threat to keep them honest, but it would have been a lot better I think.

I agree with you. Bad matchup. Fitz was similar against Auburn like he was against UGA the week before, which was almost as bad as Fitz vs LSU in 2019.

They are not creative. He just hands the ball to them when they motion through. I have no idea why we can hand the ball to Guidry at least 3 times a game.
Probably because he would drop the handoff.

No, the player suspensions are decided before the game. There is no option for 1/2 game suspensions. No way are we gonna beat Bama or LSU and we have a slim chance of beating Auburn. The rest are doable unless we play sloppy football. Obviously we are fully capable of losing to anyone. I don't think Arky or Tenn will be a problem. Plumlee has Ole Miss looking better. Texas A&M isn't that great but I say 50/50 chance of winning. I just hope we play our guys against A&M and Ole Miss for sure. We need to beat the brakes off them.

Considering that the point was that even good coaches make costly bad decisions, I thought Saban was a good choice.

It remains to be seen what Plumlee will do in the long term. Cal's defense was gassed in the 4th quarter when he came in.

I think he is a much better fit for Rich Rod due to Corral being a pro style quarterback. Something like #4 recruit if I remember correctly, but still not the type to run that offense. I hope Corral is back by Thanksgiving because I would prefer to watch him lose.

Thats pretty obvious to anyone who knows the tiniest bit about football. But what remains to be seen is what will happen once teams start gameplanning for him.

We may get hammered Saturday but to say if we don’t put together an offensive game plan and execute well is ridiculous to think we have a low chance of winning. We are in a position to win if D plays well and we hold on to the ball. While I don’t think it’s a 50/50 game this has potential for an upset. We have a chance if we don’t panic and find opportunities to exploit their weaknesses

I think they'll shut the offense down and run for days on State. It'll probably get ugly. What's the line?

I say we pull the upset 24-21. I really believe. We have athletes to compete. We have to play great. 1 to or less and no special teams breakdowns. I’m used to the the downvotes but I refuse to not believe!

If I’m Shoop I don’t really even bother rushing the passer. I play run stop and let’s see if the kid can still go 0-10 on passes more than 5 yards beyond the line of scrimmage again.

I seriously believe the defense just needs to tackle better and defensive numbers will improve. Shoop is getting them in the right positions. They are make the right reads. Just wrap them up. If we managed to stop the run I really believe we have a chance.
