I agree that Perry needs to quit shooting 3's but I'll take Woodard and Perry over Holman and Ado at the 4/5 any day of the week. Our starting 4/5 tandem last night combined for 45 minutes and produced 0 points, 5 boards. Woodard only played 17 minutes and pulled down 13 boards. Perry was 8/8. They're young and still learning, but will be very good for us. You can't teach heart and effort like they bring.
When the team shoots 31% overall and the other team shoots 44% overall, there are a 17ton of rebounding opportunities. Woodard and Perry certainly took advantage of the opportunity to rebound. Thats being serious- they had a combined 9 offensive rebounds which is great to see.
Woodard has athleticism and gives effort. His shooting wasnt great last night, but maybe that was just an off night from what we can expect once he gets a lot of minutes. I doubt it though, based on his FG% for the year.
Related note- Woodard and Perry are a combined 8 for 42 from deep. Thats 19% from deep. 19%. Why did they take a combined 5 shots from deep? Holy balls thats some terrible shooting %s.
I would pump the brakes on calling for Holman to be benched. He had a bad game and has struggled in the recent week. He also our second most consistent shooter from deep, has the 3rd best overall FG%, rebounds the most, and has the most blocks.
Benching him and replacing him with a couple of guys who shoot under 20% from deep is not really a recipe for winning.
