Guess that's why Nike kept the rights to that logo.
Commemorating Memphis State I suppose. Looks sharp. We would look bad *** with that logo.

I appreciate that logo & the teams we had. But, I like our minimalist Banner M better.
It looks really bad. I'm glad they have the rights. It's buried where it belongs.
In what parallel universe do you exist where you didn’t like the MSU interlocking logo. That will always be our best logo
Yes. I used to wish we'd go back to the MSU logo, but I don't even miss it now. The M-State one we have now looks great and it's who we are. Leave the old one in the history books.
Is any other team nationally referred to as just state?
Regionally? Yes. Nationally? No.
I have this conversation/argument with a few of my UGA friends all the time.
We are the only team/school in the SEC with State in their name save LSU; & they'll never go by anything other than that.
The one who always brings it up, does so just to rile me up. However, when I break it down for him he refuses to understand or capitulate on a rational level.
When meeting other SEC fans (most UGA fans can't name the teams in their own division let alone the conference) & I tell them I'm a State fan, they know.
I'm sure in Michigan, Colorado, NC, even Florida, etc., they regionally refer to teams as State.
Nationally, I don't know of one & if we can become known as the major one I'm all for it.
Forgive my ignorance but Memphis State... junior college?

No it's Memphis State University. The guy posting is having an autocorrect or fat finger problem. Should be MSU.
ETA: or maybe there is something I am missing because multiple people keep posting MSJ.
FSU does not refer to themselves as State. They have a unique mascot so they typically say Noles.Regionally? Yes. Nationally? No.
