If Cohen truly thinks this guy (whom I know nothing about) is the man for the job, but he passes because his paths crossed with Cann's, that would be a gigantic disappointment. The extension of that sort of logic would be Cohen firing himself for hiring Cann.

We need to make a big hire here. A name head coach with proven championship success. So we need to figure out which one it is and pay whatever price it takes. We can’t settle and take a chance after this cluster. We can’t afford to miss again for the 3rd time in 4 tries.

Throw everything we can at Texas Tech HC Tim Tadlock. Top 10, program, top 10 recruiter, multiple trips to CWS. In Lubbock. Imagine adding Texas recruiting to out deep South base.
