This is a clear upgrade, I also don’t understand why Mitch isn’t interested in pursuing any other name. I also don’t understand why so many people are acting like the name is Bryce Drew instead of Scott Drew. Dude made Baylor relevant, won a national championship, and was possibly a pandemic away from winning another. I think he’d do better at Kentucky than at Baylor with all the resources available.

Is Drew a good coach?
He’s not bad. Very boring style and personality wise. He will have really good year every once and awhile and then some double digit loss seasons. Very Meh if it happens. Zero charisma. And blander than rice cakes.

His stats don't impress me, but what concerns me is that he's a "company man", been at his job a long time. You tend to become complacent, lose drive.
I would really like someone young. As long as he can coach, recruit and stop the out of bounds play under the basket then I am all for it. We just need to get back to winning. Nothing flashy, just winning. Hurley would be my first choice but he may not be up to the task. He has it made at UCONN.

He is a better Coach and he can recruit almost as good and nowadays you don't need a recruiter you need somebody can buy players.
The main thing is Scott drew has talent evaluation skills. He knows good players. He has the bench coach skills to get you to the tournament championship.
Scott drew is a good hire my opinion. He'll be hungry to show you.

How do you know who he has pursued?

To me, if you'll ok with Drew's results, seems like you could get the same from a guy like Pearl who's better suited for the job, IMO. Not saying Pearl is my current choice.
Pearl has a 10M+ buyout too. Drew is like 5M.

Some of you guys are weird. Ripping on possible coaches after what we’ve seen the last few years?

It’s like Cal cast a spell on some of you. There are plenty of coaches around the country that would be an improvement, and Drew is one of them.
yea, but at the same time, some guys are so desperate to get rid of Cal they'd be happy with anyone

I don't just want an improvement, I want the guy that will set this program on fire

Probably quite stupid and y’all are more than welcome to rip me to shreds
But why not go after someone who’s proven themselves on smaller scale (mid major or DII)? Someone definitely younger and hungrier to prove themselves
We may just have to take a chance here on a relative unknown

Everyone conveniently leaving the championship out of all their lists of accomplishments. lol

And ignoring Cal’s last 5 year numbers 😂
Major credit to him for the title. However, it was in the weird Covid year.

He also has never won the Big 12 tourney and only twice has tied for the regular season title. Been past the first weekend of the NCAAT once since 2017.

Safe hire? Yes. Great hire? no, not in my opinion

Yeah I mean he might do fine but this would be a hire based on who Mitch personally likes.

The fanbase will never go for it but I would prefer someone who’s never won a title prior. Unfortunately people would go nuts.

Big red flag for me is two very good players transferring out in separate seasons- Matthew Mayer and LJ Cryer. Strange.

Drew would be a fine hire. I don't believe this story though. I don't think Mitch is making this decision solely and Cal hasn't even left yet, "officially".
