Especially when you consider Michael Vick wound up going to prison for (helping organize and lying about) a dog version of it.

-while enjoying/partaking in cockfighting is low rent/subhuman behavior... there is no comparison. Birds are black eyed soulless remnants of the Mesozoic Era. Lizards with wings. Delicious remnants of the Mesozoic Era.

^birds would eat you if they could, dogs are literally the best thing in the world.

- my buddy supposedly has the Lebron James of ****ing game cocks. Thing is built like a tank. Has won three poultry shows in a row. I’m not sure it has a mark. I’d be surprised if it doesn’t win several more before retiring

With that being said I can’t believe you would bring that sort of talk into these sacred chambers cricket.
I read this as your buddy has the biggest c*ck ever.

I knew that my inane fear of birds was well founded

The initial reports believed the shot couldve come from outside the stadium bc there wasnt really a loud gunshot, and because im sure there actually were some gunshots in the area at that time anyway... but the reality that the noise was basically muzzled by layers of fat as a spectator shot herself is a much better headline.

It ain’t like Vick killed a Lab puppy. He abused soulless ******** pit bulls who would tear your kids’ throats out for fun if they could.

@Wodie Sloot where do you find the pre show? Always wondered that. And Kash is a buddy and good dude. He’s a meathead and I respect that but bro has a great heart and is super kind to me every time we hangout.

@Hank Camacho my man you have no idea what life is like where throughblue lives. It’s not Fayette or Jefferson bubba. It’s rural as hell and that’s just normal out there. My brothers in Allen County have def gone to some fights as well.

* A fresh pair of Cons ERX (UK-themed) or a Trapper Keeper full of kickass folders and tons of UK Reds, and Topps stickers all over it was a must for mid-1980s MattsCats first day back to school.

Throw in an-almost daily packed lunch of a bologna sandwich with crushed-up BBQ Grippo's, Andy Capp Hot/Cheddar fries, a huge Fudge Round, and a can of Mt. Dew to have the classmates jealous.

* What a unreal year of celebs passing away. Might be the most prolific to me (considering my pop culture profile):

- Bob Barker (THE GOAT of my pop culture; closely followed by Ric Flair)
- Pee Wee Herman
- Raquel Welch
- Tony Bennett
- Tina Turner
- David Crosby
- Harry Belafonte
- Sinead O'Connor
- Gordon Lightfoot
- Alan Arkin
- William Friedkin
- Lisa Marie Presley
- The Iron Sheik
- Terry Funk
- Jim Brown

Dozens more of "obscure" ones; including a horde of 80's soap opera staples.

Speaking of which, you will not name me another soap star that I worshiped than John Black. I'm thinking of I've heard the same from @bbdk

* Saw someone actually putting a pumpkin out and thought, "Screw it, I'm getting emails/texts about upcoming UK games/Keeneland events. Sorry, Summer 2023, I am going to shake your hand and move on. See you after Derby 2024."

* I'm thinking the Gal Gadot Wonder Women theme might be creeping up to the top of my Superhero Theme Song rankings. I still have a special place in my heart for William Katt and The Greatest American Hero.

Ironman, The Avengers and The Dark Knight are mid-packers/closers in this race, with the old school ones near the lead.

* Not sure if this was sacrilege back in the day, but we always put tons of electrical tape on our wiffleballs and bats. Always had several of nice bruises from a line drive back to the pitcher's legs/arms. Also put a lawn chair behind homeplate. If you didn't swing and it hit the middle of the chair.....STRIKE!

* To me--gun-to-head--I'll take corn on the cob as the only food I could eat the rest of my life.

Now, it's a fatal-four-way for the best: Honey Select, Ambrosia, Silver Queen, or Jubilee. Change my mind.

* Always feels good to see or hear from an old schoolmate that went through life poor, picked on, and seem to have zero chance make something great of their life. Also even better when they thank you for not being like the other kids and being their friend.

Not hard, gang.

I'm not making that case. (And in some instances, we probably treat them worse in our mass poultry farms.) But it is what it is: forcing sentient creatures to fight for our amusement, which is reprehensible.

Bull fighting is pretty popular and glorified.

I just have a bit of the Native American view of it. They're put here by God for sustenance, not our amusement. We should have grown beyond that. JMO
I hear that brother, but humans run the world at this point. I love native Americans especially Cherokee and Comanche(would rather live that life tbh), we should take what we need and not decimate (does anyone know where that word comes from?)everything.

As a guy in his mid-40’s, I take solace in knowing that the above were only culturally relevant before my time (or in Terry’s case, never).

Man I love Justin Steele. Kid gives major Kerry Wood vibes with his mannerisms and the way he just comes at hitters. His stuff isn’t what Kerry’s was but he has that same pitching mentality to just attack the strike zone.

Cubs really need Stroman back in the worst way.

Wow. Spencer Steer breaks up the no-hit bid and shutout with 2 outs in the 9th with an RBI double. Thought Alex Cobb was going to get it done.

Anyone who's watched the Reds the last 30+ years knew this was coming on the dreaded West Coast trip, even after being spotted a 3-0 start by the Angels. Trying to keep a positive outlook. Keep telling myself "We weren't supposed to care in September." This is all bonus baseball for us, anyway. Not feeling optimistic, but willing to let it play out and be happy that we're ahead of schedule.

That’s one way to look at it, the other of course being miserable and dishing out “I told you so” when they don’t win the WS.

But you do you, I guess.

Crazy wind and rain here over night. Still going on but has calmed down some. Lost power around 11pm but back on around 12:30am.

Anxious to get outside to see if any damage. Buddy lives on the canal and I’d have to imagine his basement has water.

Don’t have to worry about water in our house bc we are a new build built way up (to code) but man I’ve never heard wind like I did last night and we were just on the fringe.

Been up since 2 am bc pups barked at the wind all night. Not even near us and the clouds are racing by.

Think TWC said it's about to get worse over the next 2 hours and it looks like Cedar Key is already surging around 6 ft.
