Said he heard he quit in January mad over playing time.
I don't believe it. Why would Cal want to be liable for a player and pay his traveling expenses if the player has quit the team? Cal has done a lot of stupid things, but I believe this is even beneath him. Also, why would Wheeler want to be around the team if he quit?

Add it to the things Cal should be fired for if true.

2 years in a row a player has held Cal hostage and got to continues to be a cancer in the lockerroom even if everyone wants tk act like it’s chill they are there.

Not to mention it’s highly likely Vanderbilt was the same situation just less obvious

Did he say that? I heard him say that someone he trusted told him in January that Wheeler would not play again. He's said that several times.

That's what he said. I don't know what the OP is talking about. Matt said in January he was told Wheeler was done for the season. Obviously the "injuries" changed, but I don't care what Cal releases to the fans. He's full of ****, and runs an absolute trash PR campaign.

That’s definitely the counterpoint to the rumor. After the Sharpe fiasco, I don’t think a lot of people trust Cal to handle that kind of scenario, and perhaps rightly so. If Wheeler was so upset about playing time that he’d rather just quit, it does seem odd that he’d still want to travel with the team and cheer on the players that he resented taking his spot though.

Unless he wants a waiver for another transfer next season and uses injuries as an excuse.

Some of these so-called-fans are so upset about the loss that their thinking is on the level of Cal's coaching, missing in action.

He was definitely up and cheering his teammates today.

IKR, letting Sharpe sit on the bench laughing at his teammates getting pummelled, is different.

My guess -- Wheeler wouldn't accept his role and complained of " pain". and " I'm not ready yet" and Cal didnt have the guts to call him out . IMO Cal didnt even have the desire to call him out , he was good to just role with the players that actually wanted to play -- Team be Damned
