Cal said in the post-game presser that Reeves was beat 5 times on the backdoor so he couldn't keep him in.

Hey Cal, you kept Oscar in and btw, Cal also said he needed to play Collins more and Oscar less. Of course Cal said this after the game, so what he says means ZERO.
Well one is the NPOY and plays the anchor position and one is not. Oscar has equity

If I have to explain the difference, you probably couldn’t comprehend the rationale
Please explain. Oscar was minus 21. If Reeves gives up 5 back doors like Cal said, that’s 10 points. But if he goes for his usual 20, that’s plus 10.
I know Oscar can rebound and we don’t really have a decent backup but we also don’t have a lot of shooters on our team so Reeves needs to play as well.

Listen to the post game .. Cal will tell you why .. I'll skip asking you to dig it up -- he stated to the press " Who won this game for us tonight " ?? Anyone ? Who ? " Savir Wheeler is who won this game for us tonight "..... and I'm not making this up , near direct quote .

SW played one of his better games , but I'd say Wallace was the man. I will say one thing for SW...if everybody played with as much fire in their belly as he does we'd probably be in a much better spot today.

Reeves is not a perfect player. Just like everybody else. But one thing I have noticed is if he gets major minutes he is going to score you a bunch of points. Type of player that needs to be on the floor most of the time. We almost did not score enough points to win. Yes Wheeler played pretty well. So play him at the one when he is playing good. And since CJ, Wallace and Toppin were playing good try Toppin at the 5 for a few minutes and see what happens. A zone with those five and double their big when he catches it inside. Seems like we can't adjust to different things according to how the game is going and who is playing good or needs to be on the floor.

The ft that Toppin missed late shouldn’t have happened . How do you not call a timeout there to get your free throw shooters in the game ? Toppin should never receive the ball that quickly in the backcourt of a clutch game .

No clue why Cal didn’t call a timeout there.

Did the same. Same results.
Why would a coach do that ? Why make a player sound worse than what it actually worse , Reeves got beat a couple times . Two . So why make him look worse than reality ? Make Savir look better ? IDK Cal is just nuts , he talks and he doesnt even know what he's saying .

The one cardinal sin when I played was getting beat on the base lined on a back door. Your *** got set on the bench and stayed there. You learn this in little league or especially in Middle School. A coach that can't trust his player, no matter how good, to understand the simple concept of this defensive strategy and how it affects other teammates will get benched by most any coach. I really like the advantages Reeves can give this team offensively, but if he's not locked in on defense you can't have him in the game late. Certain matchups and certain teams create different problems for individual players. Hopefully Reeves won't pout but come out on fire the next game, which I believe he will. Watching him pouring in those threes and floaters are really a pleasure, but I do understand why he was benched.

Cal is out to prove that everyone was wrong about wheeler not needing to play major minutes for this team to be successful. I stated a couple weeks back that wheelers limited play would be short lived as Cals ego would not allow others dictate who he plays regardless of results. Certainly why he is reluctant to play the B5 major minutes together and is basically doing his best to give them sometime together to say that he is but without committing to them as his go to 5. His go to 5, will include wheeler when push comes to shove and we already know where that’s going to take us. Cal is a total dipshit!!!!

Again, at this point in the season I think Wallace Fredrick and Reeves need to start and play together as many minutes as possible. When Wheeler subs at PG, then two of those three have to remain in the game. Any deviation from that should basically only be out of absolute necessity (i.e., no other option).

In my opinion, failure to follow that "rule" is basically spotting the other team 6-8 points a game (or more).

Is he not the best offensive player? Maybe even the most important player. I don't get it.
lol he can maybe start for 2 SEC teams and he may be the most important player of a Kentucky Wildcats team? We fell that far huh?

Sending a message to Reeves or any player not paying attention or going all out on defense is fine. You don't do that for a long period of time especially with one of your better players. You have your staff showing him on the bench or halftime what to correct,

Not me. I have them put on an airplane to Havana.

CCC is a friggin idiot. He’s a narcissistic, egotistical prick. Why anyone would come play for him or want their kid to play for him when there are much better coaches is beyond me.
He’s all about saving face now. And he’s going to lose that game.
