Cal said Reeves got beat 5 times on back doors so he couldn't play him. Good thing he wasn't getting beat for back doors at Mississippi otherwise we lose that game with him being on bench.

Regardless Cal is stupid very stupid to not have him in the game in the final minute when Florida was fouling you need him and CJ on the floor getting those FT's.

Sure Collins made his and Wallace made his but remember we lost vs Michigan State because our best FT shooters were not shooting at the end.

Cal never learns I guess.

Some poster earlier today bragging about Cal's genius by talking about what he did in 1988. Well, he did nothing tonight but allow a bad Florida team nearly pull-off an upset on the road. Oh, and treat his best player like a scrub. What in the world has CJ done to get more minutes than Reeves? He certainly didn't score 27 points in the last game.
He’s the vocal leader of the team. He also has the highest basketball IQ on the roster. I don’t think it’s particularly close either. Not worried about CJ’s minutes. Worried about Wheeler’s minutes. CJ/Reeves need to be on the floor together.

I want him taking 10-15 shots per game. Kentucky needs reeves & Oscar to have bounce back games Tuesday against Arkansas
Points and 3pt shots for Reeves. Hasn’t been shoring all that prestigious against top tier competition. Reeves has to play. Both offense and defense.

John Calipari: "It just wasn't Antonio's day. He got beat on five backdoors, couldn't keep him in."

Uh...
Which was a total lie. I saw only two. But Cal makes up narratives to fit his own narrative….which is play higher rated kids and assume they’ll be better players in the end

-Livingston played 19 hollow minutes 1-2 from field…2 rebounds. And his one FG was an open court layup at rhe rim off of a loose ball. He can’t dribble or shoot Anytime a defender is within a foot of him..picks up his dribble. Cal determined when UK got a lead he didn’t have to play Reeves …so we sweated out a squeaker so a five star can play SF as promised

The Benny lineup hardly ever plays together as Mr genius wants to do it his way. And this team will promptly lose when it matters as we force Livingston too much. Wheeler should only play when Wallace is needing a rest ….but it’s clear that lineup won’t get 25 minutes together with this coach around

I agree that Reeves needed more time on the floor. Cal must like CJ’s defense better than Reeves’ defense.

Everyone told Cal he needed to start Reeves after last game so he obviously needed to make him sit the bench this game to remind us all Cal is in charge.

That’s all this program is about now, Cal doing stupid **** to spite the fanbase.

Is there a point there? A team that just beat UT? A win with an epically bad game from Oscar? I'll take it. Sorry you're upset.
UT hasn’t been playing all that great themselves so them losing on the road at FLA is not a big surprise. Oscar having a bad game was very predictable as he struggles against players like castleton. Things might have been better for Oscar had he been knocking down his midrange shots but he wasn’t. It was more coaching malfeasance to keep feeding Oscar in the post knowing he could not score over castleton. I’m sorry if you don’t understand that we aren’t going to beat higher caliber teams with our leading scorer picking splinters out of his *** because he had two defensive breakdowns.

Cal obviously makes promises when he recruits certain players. Reeves wasn't one of those. Wheeler was.

Maybe Reeves should tell Cal his heart has been taken and needs to play. That's about the only way that stubborn old mule will play him.

14 point lead with 8 to go , and the same stuff happens . It comes down to a 1 possession game . Why does every win ( or nearly every win) have to be a nail biter ? NO we dont have to blow everyone out , but winning this game without it coming down to a missed Florida 3 shouldn't have happened . We are better than that

Sending a message to Reeves or any player not paying attention or going all out on defense is fine. You don't do that for a long period of time especially with one of your better players. You have your staff showing him on the bench or halftime what to correct,

Kentucky has to make it a point to get him shots, I rather have reeves, wallace, oscar(most games) take most of the shots, than secondary toppin and Fredrick

Conspiracy theory. According to LHL articles and radio commentators, Florida’s strategy tonight was to limit our 3 point shots and make up take long 2 point shots while limiting Oscar’s shooting success. Florida is #8 in Defense Efficiency and Wheeler was used to try and sped up the game. Just glad we won and I don’t care how they do it.
It was, but cal has always been a stubborn coach who likes to prove the media and our fanbase wrong. The Benny lineup and playing lineup despite knowing they will have limitations and make it harder it proof. Cal prioritizes defense, which in todays basketball is not the way anymore, the players are just better offensively know and you have to be able to score instead of hoping you can hold them to 50.

Illogical
We can disagree that’s fine, I’ve watched the last few years and watched cal do things everybody knows won’t work but him, stubbornness and wanting to prove people wrong, some of our media people even say he does this

Your description of Livingston sounds a lot like the description for Hopkins. He transferred. Be careful what you wish for😀

If it were just two breakdowns, you could be correct. I saw unfocus attention to the game and allowed back door baskets as well as no defense on other drives and not guarding jump shooters.

Cal said in the post-game presser that Reeves was beat 5 times on the backdoor so he couldn't keep him in.

Hey Cal, you kept Oscar in and btw, Cal also said he needed to play Collins more and Oscar less. Of course Cal said this after the game, so what he says means ZERO.
If he plays Collins more and Oscar less we are screwed. Oscar struggles against true centers because he’s not one. If he thinks Collins and his build are the answer against guys like Castleton he’s a fool

I’m no HOF coach but if I have a player like Reeves, with so much to offer offensively, and he’s getting beat on back door cuts several times I play a zone and make the team knockdown some perimeter shots
But hey that’s coaching so I shouldn’t expect that for 10 mil a year.

If I have to explain the difference, you probably couldn’t comprehend the rationale
Oh wise one!!! Explain Cals decision to keep reeves on the bench knowing florida would be fouling and instead having wheeler in the game who has missed every FT attempt in crunch time this year. This board could learn a lot from you with your vast knowledge.

Not my style. Try to call it as I see it. Might be right, might be wrong.
We’ll all live.
Would you be in a better mood if we had lost?
I don’t think I’ve ever had a beef with you in any way but if you think Wheeler should have been in the game instead of Reeves when it was do or die and we were in a one-and-one situation you are just wrong. Triple C is a crazy man.

Reeves just wasn't having a great game. Florida was really keying on him defensively, and it was working. I agree he should have seen more time in the 2nd half, but in the 1st he played 11.5 minutes and had 2 points on 1/4 shooting. His +/- for the half was 0.

Fredrick had 9 points on 3/5 shooting (2/2 from 3) and finished the half with a +/- of +12.

What's more important - what a guy did LAST game or what he's doing in the current game?

There's no one on the planet Earth that wanted Reeves in more than I did, but I'm extremely happy with how things turned out, obviously.

There’s nothing slow about it. Cal is in love with wheeler. We needed to stretch the floor instead let them crowd the paint and dump the ball to oscar over and over. I’m past my limit with cal. Want him gone tired of these games he plays.
I honestly believe he is so stubborn that he would rather lose than admit the bennies were right.
