I was without service for most of the day so I kept up with what I could. Same ****? Dropped passes, poor blocking, dumb play calls, poor vanilla defense as a whole, our QB looks like a wing t HS QB that was primarily a WR? Pretty much cover it?

Add unprepared, lethargic and overall ****** attitude by head coach, staff and players and you've got it.

Pretty much. But I will also add that I saw some things I haven't seen in YEARS from MSU. Players giving up, fans booing our own team, players moping around hanging heads and feeling sorry for themselves.

It was bad. Very very bad.

If you watched our 2012 game against Texas A&M ("Snow Bowl 2") it was fairly close. Except instead of getting torched by passes, we were simply run over by Auburn.

We were blown off the ball by the Auburn OL, they were able to get to the 2nd level of our Defense regularly. Offense was vanilla play calling but the Sh!tty Pass Blocking was a real highlight.** I had long wondered why we Redshirted Martinas Rankin at LT, I mean he was a JUCO All American---well today he showed why he wasn't on the field before. He missed numerous blocks, on of which led to a fumble return for a TD that allowed Auburn to take a 35-0 halftime lead.

And with a 5 TD lead in the 3rd the game was really over.

Wait a minute.... I quit watching at 14-0, but are you saying Rankin had a second missed block leading to QB fumble? I saw one early in the game, that wasn't returned for a TD. The one I saw possibly proves that Rankin is narcoleptic.

Pretty much A&M 2013 except Auburn just stuffed the ball down our throats without needing a Heisman QB. The offensive line could easily be facing criminal neglect charges come Monday morning. Mullen said at halftime that we aren't used to getting out-physicalled like that, so yeah he's totally checked out.

Yup, Rankin is complete garbage, which makes no sense coming out of JUCO as #1 at his position. All eyes on Hevesy with this one.

If there is any justice in the world, our team would give the whirlpools to the chain gang after the game. We gave them quite a workout in the first half.

Hey Jake, you know you can't talk bad about the team or Dan Mullen. People on here will try to burn your house down. I been saying for years Mullen is not a great coach. He could be if he would humble himself but that won't happen. Dan needs to go and pay someone worth 4.5 million

I also was with out service so instead of unboarding my windows and clearing the yard of debris (jax Fl) I went to a nearby sports bar and was surrounded by Auburn fans (a warning sign from God) and endured 3 painful hours. We had a chance to take a early lead but Graves missed a fg and it was downhill from there porous defense, Fitzgerald played like crap shoulda been yanked in second qtr after being down 21-0. Complete disgrace (reminds me of watching South Carolina beating the hell outta us in 1995) .Changes need to be made imho.

Get the 17 over yourself. Mullen has not been this bad "for years".

Yanking Fitz would've done absolutely nothing. Heard a guy pouting about this on a shuttle and it made no sense to me. He wasn't great but his receivers and o-line put forward the worst effort I've ever seen under Mullen. And our defense was useless.

Dak Prescott wouldn't have won that game today with the lack of effort and intensity that everyone on our sideline showed. Combine that with the personal fouls and this was disgraceful to our university and fanbase.

Reading isn't your strong suit. He didn't say that. He said he's not a great coach and he's correct. He's never been a great coach. Great coaches aren't 5-29 against the top 25 and get blown out by mediocre teams at home.

My breakdown

I was without service for most of the day so I kept up with what I could. Same ****? Dropped passes, poor blocking, dumb play calls, poor vanilla defense as a whole, our QB looks like a wing t HS QB that was primarily a WR? Pretty much cover it?

1. This was the worst effort I've seen from a Mississippi State football team in 15 years. I'd struggle to name one player that appeared to care. It was a big game for both teams and one we could win at home. There is no excuse for that way we approached the game.

2. We have no leadership. This is arguably the result of getting crushed in recruiting and relying on jucos. Fred Ross looked detached from football today....as has Nick James for the entire year.

3. This is clearly the worst offensive line I have seen in 30 years watching MSU football.

4. I thought auburn was lethargic in the first half. They had two fumbles and a turnover deep in their own territory. Had we played with any amount of effort, we could have been in the game. We didn't play with effort though. They did whatever they desired because we didn't care about the result.

5. I don't know if Mullen has lost this team or this team have given up on Mullen. But something feels off with this roster.

6. Discounting the South Carolina game this year, check out the below numbers:

21-3 - score at halftime v Alabama
28-0 - ole miss egg bowl to open the game
Sourh Alabama loss at home
21-0 - down to LSU at half a week before Les was fired
35-0 down at half to unranked auburn at home

Those numbers are wild. Needless to say, I wouldn't bother watching the tape.

7. The play where Brandon Bryant had an angle on the running back running toward the endzone and checked up was laughable. Bryant essentially quit on that play. It was embarrassing.

8. Throat slash gestures and personal fouls when you're down 35-0 looked more pathetic than our performance . We have little talent, played with little effort and have no discipline. It was up there with the 51-0 Baton Rouge loss in 2004 or so .

9. I have no idea what has happened to Gerri Green or Malik Dear. There are a few others. I just can't believe they don't get more opportunities.

10. My last comment will be related to our inability to get off the field on third down. The middle of the field is wide open. And they killed is there in third and 5-10. That pretty much sums it up and about as good as I can do at 3 am.

You forgot to mention we were ranked #1 for 5 weeks in 2014 and that Dan Mullen is the only man nice and smart enough to coach for us hillbillies, but other than that, good summary.

Hankp22's list: #2 is the root of our evil. We've gotten away with recruiting problems because of decent, good, and even great (Dak) leadership under Mullen. He was able to lead the team himself early on in his tenure. We have ****** leadership on the team and from the staff right now and all of our recruiting problems are in full view. Bama and OM games are going to be absolute blow outs.

2010 was a great coaching job
2014 was a great coaching job

Saying oh man this coach isn't good for 7 years is a BS prediction. 90% coaches eventually fail. Thats life. But to say he was never great after the best stretch in program history is just stupid. I think his time has come and we need to move on but you can say the guy was good and still think he is ****** now.

He's not a great coach, he's average at best! Relative to 2010, the majority of that team was Croom's talent. Not sure if you remember but we dropped off big time in 2011 when we went 7-6. Mullen would likely have been fired after the 2013 season because of the 2012 collapse and the continuation into 2013 but Damien Williams saved his *** against Arkansas in overtime after he got two QBs hurt because of the way he used them and then low and behold Prescott had to tell him what to do to beat Mississippi!
I'm sorry, other than the three game stretch of LSU, ATM and Auburn, I thought he and that jackass Hevesy did their usual "we know more than everyone else" job which resulted in us getting our asses handed to us AGAIN by Alabama and Mississippi and subsequently GT. DAN MULLEN and JOHN HEVESY cost us the SEC West in 2014 and likely more.
If you want to be reminded of some more details about those games and that period I will be happy to give you refresher. We won over the last two years because of the greatest QB in school history masking the weaknesses of Dan Mullen and John Hevesy! That is very clear by what is happening in Starkville and Dallas in 2016!
He is not a good coach and they both need to be gone NOW!

Tell me more about this great talent Croom had. You don't think maybe Dan coached them up? Dan took Chris Relf from nothing and rode him to 9 wins. You think Dak would have been as good as he was without good coaching? Look I am over Dan. His run is over and it's time to move on. But without him coaching these players thay "saved his ***" what would these past few years have been like? He deserves credit for a great stretch of football just as he deserves blame for the shitshow we have seen this season.

If your idea of a "great" coach is someone who can come to MSU and win 9 or 10 games every year, have top 10 recruiting, and beat top 25 teams more often than the beat us then I have bad news: we will never have a "great" coach.

You apparently have a tough time reading and/or interpreting what was said. Where did I say anything about "great talent Croom had"? I said "the majority of that team was Croom's talent". I would suggest you use common sense, logic and the record book to validate my statement.
Relative to Dak, I think he and our team would have been a HELL OF LOT BETTER in 2014/15 if he was not out running for his life most of the time because he didn't have an SEC O-line in front of him! Understanding that fact, if he had a head coach that was not so arrogant, condescending and full himself to the point that he made decisions that were detrimental to our program's progress, like keeping that worthless John Hevesy on his staff, we could have been a lot better and likely wouldn't be in the mess we're in today! What happened yesterday didn't just happen, its been in the making for several years. If you can't recognize that, then I can't help you!
Beyond that, I guess we need to agree to disagree. I will continue have standards and expect the employees to be held accountable and you can settle for mediocrity or whatever level of success is satisfactory and call it good enough.

You gave Crooms Talent credit for 2010. Right there in your post. But are unwilling to give Dan credit for coaching. All of the players in 2014 and 15 were Dans. So who gets the credit? Not saying the O line was great. Not a fan of Hevesy. Those were GREAT seasons by MSU standards.

You can continue to use way too many exclamation points and think that 8+ wins at MSU is underachieving. I will continue to understand that while the Dan Mullen era is justifiably drawing to a close he did have several seasons that are among the best this school has had.

That's right, the majority of that team was Croom's talent YES OR NO? Did Dan Mullen recruit and sign the majority of the 2010 team, YES OR NO?
I also said Dan Mullen is an average coach, he is NOT a great coach! I also said Dak Prescott masked a great deal of the problems with our team over the last two seasons. NOT once did I say that Dan Mullen should not get ANY credit for anything that occurred during his tenure; those were your words sir!
If you're going to argue with me on my position, have the common sense to interpret and quote me correctly, if not then again, I can't help your ignorance!
Relative to your comment about great season(s); a great season does not make a great coach!
One other thing, my evaluation of the yankee goes far beyond the win/loss column.
