2022-2023 Season:

Step 1: Enter season highly ranked with Final 4 and National Championship aspirations (CHECK)
Step 2: Lose first highly ranked matchup of the season (Usually Duke, Michigan State, this season Gonzaga) and potentially get upset by a non-ranked team (CHECK)
Step 3: Continue to play lifeless basketball through November and early December (CHECK)
Step 4: Beat highly ranked opponent in December/January, team is starting to look decent (CHECK)
Step 5: Win some tough games against ranked SEC teams (rarely are the wins against Tennessee), lose some away SEC games to terrible teams, but overall team is looking decent to good for March (CHECK)
Step 6: Enter March Madness with legitimate Final 4 hopes (ehh I dunno Jim)
Step 7: Lose to a lower ranked seed in a game where the offense looks terrible (CHECK for the second part of this statement)
Step 8: Lose at least half the team to the NBA (CHECK)
Step 9
: Repeat!

That has happened what 2 times? 2013 team sucked, 2016 team got beat in 2nd rd, 2018 team lost in sweet 16, 2020 no tourney, 2021 COVID year all young teams were horrible even Duke. Last year and 2016 is the only years we get knocked out early.

One team went to nit and lost 1st rd, IIRC. The yr Noel was injured. Was that 2013?

Great job!!! There are some additional intermediate steps though:

Step 5a: Have an unexpected chance at a 2 seed, by only beating two teams we’re favored against, when a few powerhouse programs hiccup in Late February/early March.

Step 5b: Piss that chance away.

Step 6a: Get our hopes up when teams lose on the other side of our bracket, making our screw-job seeding actually look like a blessing and an easy road.

And his gang:

Kybass, Herros, kl504, ed30232, rockfly, IL Wildcat and the rest will tell you why you should be optimistic based on the North Florida game results and statistics.
I don't know any of those posters but more power to them for being glass half full lol, I'm too much of a realist to get my hopes up for anything and have a knack for recognizing patterns hence this post.

Step 7

Before step 7 we always get Swaggy Cal.

Step 7 you left out missing double digit free throws..

Step 8 skip out on last coaches show with a claim that he's out recruiting.

It’s going to be a loonngg next two seasons! And not because the players are not talented, quite the contrary! Watching a thief screw the poochie with some of the best talent any other coach would dream about!

Welcome to Calipari basketball, circa 2018-present day.

Meanwhile Michigan state and Gonzaga have since been easily beat by Alabama and Purdue. Gold standard here at Kentucky!!
Michigan State is playing for either 7th ( if they win) or 8th place ( if they lose) in an 8 team tournament.

Some UK fans just need to wake up.
Be patient. Cal's teams play better in March.

Do you actually think these other top teams won't improve also by March??
If you watched any of the top 3 holiday tournaments this week, and can be honest about what you saw, we are in trouble again this year.

So. Relax. Just wait until NEXT YEAR'S class gets here. Cal will turn it around. Just wait.

Through it all, Cal's fans try to convince themselves that the following year will be awesome after they stop telling each other that it was the players fault and not Cal's.
