Kentucky vs Davidson 1986 NCAAT

First round game in Charlotte w/UK playing before an u friendly crowd -

Watch the first 3-4 mins of this game & remembered:

1) The hype of Eddie Suttons "Uptempo System"

2) Ed Davender scores UKs first 6 pts & his jumoshot WAS BEAUTIFUL

3) James Blackmon was a tough *** utility player that could have been key to a title (86)

4) Winston Bennett IS CAPABLE of having blood on his jersey and caused everyone SEVERAL foul line trips --- in less than 4mins

@PTI (pti) the Hulu adaptation of The Looming Tower is mostly confined to John O'Neill and how friggin weird the CIA silo was, but it's pretty solid. You will get to see fat sloppy Jeff Daniels waxing multiple ladies who are lightyears out of his league, so that could be a selling point or a demerit. 🤷‍♀️

Speaking of fat and sloppy, F*** Cal. To the moon. I read some goober on Reddit yesterday suggesting it was a manufactured fight between Cal and Stoops to give the gridiron Cats a chip on their shoulder. While Cal might be down for kayfabe, there is not a snowball's chance in hell ol' Top Button is. I also don't see Piglet responding to that idea with anything but the D-Generation X suck it. Cal, though...I could see it.

The A&E WWE Legends series is unreal, btw. I'm not sure anyone was as tragic as Chyna, but boy, Lex Luger sure gave her a run. If you don't remember if a wrestler is dead now, you probably shouldn't google it. The answer is probably yes, and then you'll see a list of WWE/WCW casualties a mile long and feel gross about watching these guys/ladies sacrifice their bodies just to die of an OD.

Genuinely sad Better Call Saul ends tonight. The Albuquerque universe will be fully closed. I do appreciate that the showrunners are not going to let the story spiral off into 17 spinoffs no one wants, and that they didn't let the flagship limp along to a miserable and ignominious end like The Walking Dead.

Annnnd last note on that Davidson game - I had no idea that was 4 miles from their campus -- and they had already used that court twice as their home/game site that season

Same year Kentucky had to play LSU & Bama (4th time against each) in their damn bracket

They also just happened to draw WKU in round two that year.

Internal sales team meetings or sales meetings (with prospects)? I've been almost 100% virtual in meetings with prospects since FAUCI'S REIGN and honestly believe people prefer them at this point.

-Not time consuming
-No polite small talk
-No CAN I GET YOU GUYS SOMETHING TO DRINK? WATER? COFFEE?
-No unnecessary office or plant tours

This is only my working theory, but I find people subconsciously appreciate your ability to credibly operate in the 21st Century.

Like Stoops says, sometimes you have to meet FACE TO FACE, but in general I'm typically defaulting to virtual at this point.

Internal weekly sales meeting. I also prefer client meetings in person as I think it's easier to sell in person. But the rest of the day and my paperwork tasks can be done from my dining room office much more efficiently.

holy **** the Manti Te'o doc on Netflix is wild. I mean we all know the story- but the lengths the catfisher went through to dupe him, including faking their death twice, are unreal. It remains the only time Deadspin was ever relevant when they broke that story.

No, they don't, unless they're the tin foil hat wearing 6 X boosted shower once a week basement dwelling nimrods that have been indoctrinated by covid ignorance. Otherwise, people want to see people....as intended.

Speaking of fun sales pitches, recently I’ve run into a new crop of AI/ML SAS platforms that claim their algorithms are automagically performing tedious WIP tracking tasks, etc., with some minimal human oversight (overseas). But, it’s clearly just a bunch of guys in a sweatshop doing the work “manually” with a tiny bit of AI to bring a modicum of legitimacy to the base product claim.

It’s quite the coup for whoever thought a new take on the Mechanical Turk. (The overseas part is actually somewhere near Turkey, IIRC - ha.) Kudos to them.

I took quite a leap of faith by going on the road and living > 1,300 miles from home while still trying to maintain and build my business last year. It's a business that works almost exclusively on networking, schmoozing, good-ole-boy, it's-not-what-you-know-but-who-you-know nonsense, and yet I'll manage to more than double my revenue in the 11 months I've spent away from home. That's working 100% virtual, and putting in a solid 20-30 hours/week, give or take.

I'm continually amazed by how few people actually want to meet in person. That's always my first offer, and I normally just get shot down. In fact, a HUGE percentage of my clients are people I've never met. Many of them I've only spoken to via text/email. I still love the old school method of doing business over lunch or drinks, but knocking out the same amount of business simply by exchanging a few emails is just so gd easy.

Agree on meetings with clients and whatnot.

Also if I had my druthers, I’d probably not ever go back to the office. Getting dressed up and commuting sucks. Hate it.

That said, over the past year I have come to the conclusion that collaboration and general well-being is hurt by hybrid and remote work. I think coming in at least 4 days a week would be better for the team and individuals. I think it’s an example of people not wanting what is actually best for them.

But that genie is out of the bottle, and I’m not sure where we go from here. Young people and parents want no part of the old way. They demand flexibility.

I’m not in sales but think that work is generally fine remote.

- Pro zoom meeting. In fact I’m so confrontational it’s best if you can’t see me at all because I apparently wear my thoughts all over my face.

- Boats bourbon/doctor group has about 7 bourbon groups I’m included on in a down right fit over this single barrel bookers they somehow landed.

I mean the entitlement some have is astonishing. It goes past the where can I get it type silliness. Some are genuinely mad “they” weren’t thought of “because everyone would be in line for a bookers single barrel”.

- Woke up motivated today. Have felt pretty defeated since getting voted down in woodford county and have honestly just been going through the motions of late.

Back at it. Environmental permit pulled in coxs creek so we can get soil tests and septic approval for warehousing and bottling facility.

The line of credit we applied for was approved at double the figure we wanted.

Time to get off my ***, quit pouting like a *****(per my wife) and do the only thing I’ve ever known……….hustle!

- Today was moms Birthday so all this culminating at once on her day is fitting.

In 2 days tho, I’ll be high(wynngummy) and drunk celebrating the day my father passed to pay homage.

What week this is every year for me.

- Little guy is taking to football. He was legit almost sick he was so nervous. He is way behind the other kids and the coaches are great with him. Hard but fair.

Ever since the scrimmage Saturday where he got over the butterflies he is a different player. Still inexperienced but the coaches said yday after practice they see the fire now.

Not sure why, but it’s those moments when you realize just how awesome being a parent is.

Then you go home and walk in their room to let them know how proud you are only to see the **** hole they created in your house.

contracts / subcontracts working fine remote

as others have said - f2f cant be topped if real issues emerge (esp manufacturing/testing or the like)

high school football kicks off next week - good luck to anyone who has a team or participant involved

have gone 30+ days now without drinking at all - ive now hit some bizarre mental clarity, sharply focused and energetic --- phase --- or new reality or something ...:damn:

ive had more professional praise and family love in the past 2 weeks than i have seen in at least 3 years or more

GREATLY UNDERESTIMATED the physiological benefits of zero alcohol

AND --- I am almost DAMNED CERTAIN I've become ≈ 54% prettier 🤯

I'd just like to thank all of you all that can get by, with about 60% efficiency working remotely, for falsely convincing the masses this is the way of the future. Not much at stake, other than the supply chain, pretty important temp jobs, teachers, and the economy. Now all these idiots are jealous and quitting to go play in the mountains or hang out on a beach. Inviting the social media class to take a 2 year vacation was just this side of shutting schools down for 2 school years as the most damaging policy in our country's recent history.

Get back to work, bums!!

Got 6 years sobriety today. I'd be dead if I kept drinking the way I was. Dead and buried. So I got that going for me.

As long as I'm posting... oldest getting married this Fall, middle child graduated college and has fantastic job, youngest back off to college. Good kids, thankful. Have been in Nashville area since February and will be here for another couple of months before heading back out to travel...back to the beach somewhere for a month and then probably out west close to national parks.

Working remote and closing deals. All Zoom. Haven't been on a real business trip in over 3 years and that's JUST fine with me. Airplanes, airports and all that...don't miss them one bit. Nope, not one bit.

Dating at 60+ after 25+ years of marriage is a trip. On-line dating is like fish in a barrel. But a lot of batshit crazies out there at my age--entertaining to say the least.

Weight still down about 70lbs from my worst and keeping steady. Just kicked in another round of healthy eating and working out so hopefully more improvement on the way. Don't EVERY f'ing get out of shape.

Life is good, even better than it was. Enjoy the ride....

It’s not production or efficiency. My team has had plenty of both. I’m talking more about culture, engagement and burnout. I think all have suffered. That said, it’s likely as much because of COVID overall as it is remote/hybrid work.

Really interesting topic to me. I’ve read quite a bit about it.

I’m in sales and up until February worked with folks in DC, now Ohio and PA. I’ve always been a hybrid and do most of my work via an internet connection. So going to a WFH model hasn’t really changed how I sell, but made the task immensely more efficient.

For two years everyone adopted Teams/ZOOM with their clients and therefore, sales support. It’s easier for me to get in front of folks now because jumping on a virtual meeting is second nature. I “see” more advisors virtually than pre-pandemic because they’ve adopted this model. And it’s more effective with screen sharing and collaboration to drive business. Cuts back on the need to travel and all the crap that goes with it these days. Been a real boon, honestly.

The environment doesn’t make you, it’s just how you’re wired. I.E. if you can’t work effectively at home, you weren’t a productive employee to begin with and likely were a Milton from Office Space.
