My biggest gripe is Cal 100% would not like it if another UK coach brought up the bball team/resources/funding/etc. That is fact.

You wanna complain about your facilities, that’s fine. Then just do that. Stop mentioning other programs. It comes off as being a *****.

Yes, we are a bball school but don’t undermine the current football staff by constantly playing this “their slice of pizza is bigger than mine”.

Just go about your business and stfu

Saying "This is a basketball school" isn't the issue. The issue is then dragging the football program into it by saying Alabama and Georgia are football schools, I hope our team wins 10 games, blah, blah. Especially with your overpaid, underperforming ***. And also at a time when college basketball with all the UNc, Duke, Kansas etc. nonsense and what passes for officiating now, I'm not sure college basketball isn't closer to wrestling.

There is one program at UK that doesn't get a fraction of the money back that they generate. The rest get back more than they generate or basketball, they get to keep everything they generate.
So why would you bash the ONLY program that is paying all the bills?
Wouldn't you go after all the programs that are taking revenue they didn't earn? Seems odd.

If this ain’t a basketball school then why does our basketball coach make football money?

GTFOH if you don’t get that, despite recent results!

I do think our recent football success and basketball failures has Cal feeling a little insecure, but let’s not forget it’s only been 2 full seasons since Lynn Bowden took over mid season at which point this whole thread was ready to run Stoops out of here.

The "truth" is that Stoops and UK Football have been successfully battling the "Basketball School" narrative for a decade to post arguably the best run of winning football anyone under the age of 75 has seen in their lifetimes. And with all the momentum football has with winning and recruiting, it doesn't exactly help the recruiting cause for the basketball coach to attempt to remind everyone of their place at the table.

It’s always going to be a dumbass statement for Calipari, the UK basketball coach to say what he did. But now, in the Bahamas, a celebration for fans in August and 25 days before football season when the program is on a high. A true genuine apology is needed from him.

That being said he supports the football 🏈 program more than any coach I’ve seen here at UK. Awful timing, dumb for him to say it but hopefully will apologize and we move on.

I still don't see the part where he trashed the football program. F 'em, Cal. F 'em all! Say what you feel. You're the one with a national championship ring. You're the one about to add a 2nd national championship ring this April. It's us against the world, coach. F everybody!

UK football is definitely his enemy. Glad he finally stood up to them. Good call Vern.

Stick to endocrinating kids.

If you followed football recruiting you would understand. "UK is a basketball school, why would you go there" is one if the most common things recruits hear from other schools talking **** about us. Our basketball coach just provided awesome ammunition for Stoops' competition to use against him.

It would have been nice if the Little Leaguers from London could have made it to Williamsport, especially with all that part of the Commonwealth has had to deal with lately, it would have been a nice story. But you know the more I think about it, we're a basketball state, not a baseball state, so F'em I guess.

I was just messing around. It was stupid for Cal to say.

We play Angola last night? Didn't get to watch it but the box score is hilarious. I don't know who or what "Gilberto Berrones" is but a -60 plus/minus is epic. Apparently a -57 is the worst ever in a NBA game.

* Terie posted lately or she too busy getting some strange?

* Staying in Covington for the weekend and the talent here is much stronger than I remember. I see what people are saying about girls going braless. I haven't seen this much THO / VPL in decades.

Good times! Gonna need to upgrade my sunglass game toot sweet, though.

* If anyone is looking for a podcast to pass the time between the Bahamas games and the start of football season, you might want to peep the Lex Fridman episode with ex-CIA agent Andrew Bustamante. It is an absolute banger.

Randoms:
  • Looks like the Kroger Video board Reno is a bit unspectacular. Like upgrading from a 64” to a 75” 4k LCD screen. Why bother? They should have doubled the size or not done anything.
  • Forgot about my TVG account having a balance after my Atlantic City debacle. Took a quick beaten at the tables, completely tilted, to then lose a bunch more on various tracks. Loser.
  • Played a decent round of golf yesterday. 6 pars with many more rimmed out putts left out there. A few disaster holes that wiped any chance for a good overall score. Muggy AF.
  • Bald Eagle was watching us play on 15. That’s a big and scary MFer.
  • Calumet 16 and High Lifes
  • Lobster Roll lunch with my son was a good escape yesterday as well. He’s petrified of leaving for Lex on Tuesday. He’ll be fine.
  • Shucked and served up 144 topneck clams last night, along with the rest of the menu. Too much work for my vacation, but eff it.
    • Clams Casino de Kook:
    • 1 1/2 cup Italian panko breadcrumbs
    • 2-3 cloves garlic
    • 1 shallot
    • 1 stick melted unsalted butter
    • 1/2 cup dry white wine
    • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
    • Couple splashes hot sass
    • 1 Lemon’s juice
    • Bacon
    • Combine all chopped fine ingredients, place atop clams on a broiler pan, add a square of bacon atop that, place under broiler until toasted and crispy. Profit.

That would be false. Joe B. was a huge football fan, went to games, and was often seen w/ Curci at dinner around town. Curci staunchly defended Joe B. during his rough stretch in the early 80's that aggravated the hoops contingent.

Cal "had"to show thinly veiled support for football, nothing more.
His used car sales pitch has resumed to mach 10 level, which isn't surprising considering the last few years. "We eat first", "we are college basketball", etc, etc, etc....that act is closed and here comes the new show, which includes stepping on anyone who gets in his way, even within the UK family.
