anytime some is "anonymous" i would take anything they say with not just a grain of salt but with a bucket
GM get fired not for not drafting success, they get fired when they waste a top pick on useless players based on hype not skill.Nope, but you know and I know it the NBA drafts kids with potential. Guess that’s the reason a lot of GM’s gets fired.
And Sharpe probably will end up being a really good player. But I would be willing to bet it takes him at least 3 years to be considered a pretty good NBA player. Now that's one of those things that doesn't have anything to do with the price of tea in China, but I would still bet he'll be lucky to play much for a year or two. When he ends up being really good in the NBA, the butthurt will be even more plentiful on this board
The fact that he didn’t make his NBA debut until the end of January because of his injury should have snuffed that stupid thinking out, but alas…Revisiting history on Vanderbilt I believe the consensus at the time that people felt Vanderbilt had a minor injury and mailed it in the rest of the year.
Well put.He has ducked and dodged his way to this point, if his chickens come home to roost it's just too damn bad.
The same NBA execs that are wrong a lot ? Hell one of these execs will take him in the lottery .You've seen him play a lot?
More than NBA execs whose job depends on correctly evaluating players (who have actually played games)?
Cool deal.....
Including Vanderbilt is completely wrong. He worked hard to get on the floor and when he could actually play without pain, he was a difference maker. Sad fact is, he couldn't stay healthy.Vanderbilt and Sharpe: two cancerous players who no UK fan should have any fondness for.
There was a lot of hand wringing over Vanderbilt, but UK was 7-7 in games he played. He would’ve been an incredible college basketball player had he stuck around for a few seasons, but all he could do as a Freshman was rebound.Revisiting history on Vanderbilt I believe the consensus at the time that people felt Vanderbilt had a minor injury and mailed it in the rest of the year.
Sharpe used UK but never actually played a game.
Other than the fact that teams picking in the top 10 are for a reason. I can see a team in the 20 plus range taking a chance but teams in the lottery and top 10 need help now, not hope it materializes in a few years down the road. If I were a GM and my job depended on my pick I would not go with an unknown. Too much at stake to take a chance!!!It won't. NBA teams give these rookies SMALL first contracts in relation to revenue, so the damage done with taking a chance on a kid is minimal.
I would bet a lot of money that Sharpe will not last past the 10th pick and more likely the 5th. if he is as athletic as the reports say he is, no GM will want to be the one that DIDN'T draft him on the chance he becomes a franchise changer.Other than the fact that teams picking in the top 10 are for a reason. I can see a team in the 20 plus range taking a chance but teams in the lottery and top 10 need help now, not hope it materializes in a few years down the road. Agreed, I feel the same way. I notice you're not using your real name here.anytime some is "anonymous" i would take anything they say with not just a grain of salt but with a bucket
i notice you are not eitherAgreed, I feel the same way. I notice you're not using your real name here.
Nope, but you made the grain of salt comment, not me. I just wondered if you noticed what you did.i notice you are not either
but hey neither of us are NBA execs talking about draft picks either
You're right JonathanW. It just takes one. I suppose it is just human nature to be so intrigued by an unknown like this kid, and being afraid to miss on a guy who could potentially be the next MJ or Kobe. What are the chances this kid becomes that? Very slim. But does it matter? Not really. It matters to some that he hasn't played in a year and a half. It matters to some that he's a gamble. But if one GM decides he's worth that gamble, that will do it.Agree with that GM. But it just takes 1 GM, who doesn't want to miss out, who is enamored with a player for any odd reason.
If I were an NBA GM:
Picks 1-10, I'm taking the one with the highest floor
Picks 11-20, I'm taking the one with the highest projection
Picks 21+, I'm taking the one with the highest ceiling (unless serious playoff contender who just has a specific need to fill)
Don't know about his flawed game, but the rest l agree with.I really dislike this guy and have from the moment it was clear what was occurring. Sharpe and players like him are an absolute cancer to the sport. The worst part about it which already suffers the worst from selfishness.
I think he’s a con man trying to get rich and hide his flawed game. He didn’t give a crap about the guys on the roster.
@UKWoodfordIt’s pathetic. A 19 year old kid that dribbles an orange ball has literally changed the lives of some around here.
