-14 years for Gyero's First Couple. Fairly certain we both forgot. Pretty wild tho. Basically the same age my mom was when we met. 😖

-Wish I could've been there with Bobber for Maverick. I'm sure he was over the moon geeking.

-Weather isn't great for business but for life it looks amazing. Mid to low 80's. Sun up at 630 and sets at 9. We're in the best time of the year right now.

-Crazy last week running all over the damn place on the heels of a crazy last month or two doing the same. Looking forward to a fairly stationary weekend.

-I love coaching baseball with the little guys but I'm eyeing the end of the season. 4-5 days per week seems like a lot for 6/7 years old.

-Pressed 315 yesterday without much struggle. 100+ lbs over my weight is pretty solid if you ask me.

-Nice lil ride.

It sure was some beautiful weather this weekend. Spent most of it doing things with the family as one daughter graduated high school and the youngest had her first golf tournament for the summer. Stayed up all night helping with Project Graduation and found out that it's a lot harder to recover from an all nighter when you are in your 50's as opposed to your 20's.

You wanna see a dead body????

feels like summer 2022 is gonna be a throwback to the glory days of summer blockbusters. Doctor strange, maverick, Jurassic park, Thor. Banger after banger until September and then it’s football time in the bluegrass, baby.

im with anth on baseball burnout but our season isn’t even halfway over. Here’s my weekly schedule
Mondays: off
Tuesdays: 10u 6:30-9/12u 6-8
Wednesday’s: “optional” batting practice
Thursdays: 10u 7-9/12u 6-8
Friday: “optional” batting practice
Mind you these are all in Georgetown, occasionally at different locations.
then on the weekends (2) tournaments in various locations throughout ky, southern Indiana and Tennessee.
And as of today, all practices are closed to parents. So I’ve decided to sign up for a gym in Georgetown to try and finally get in shape with my 7.5 hours a week with nothing to do an hour from home.

I am all for tearing down old buildings, not only is it good for business but it cleans up those unsightly old cabins that racists used to build.

Are you referring to Uncle Tom's cabin?

As someone who grew up in the 12th region I can assure you that isn’t needed to be successful.

BIG TIME YOUTH BASEBALL is 10 times crazier than its soccer equivalent. Which is saying something, as my youngest child is getting ready to join a league that will have us spending our weekends throughout the Midwest.

I’m currently doing Tuesday and Thursday for my 5 year old daughters t-ball and I’m calculating with 3 kids what that’s going to look like and I’m trying to figure an out or what the hell to do. I’m not planning 6 nights for my kids who will be inheriting my genes meaning they will not be going pro in anything (will be lucky to play HS quite frankly). I mean is this a new thing with sports? Like what the hell.

Building a house in 2022 is fine, just fine. It does appear the increasing rates and recession is slowing down the price gouging from manufacturers, so that’s nice!

Amazing what a 99 dollar umbrella can accomplish for a backyard

Me and my next door neighbor both have 3 kids of almost identical age and he’s former military so we’ve been trying to watch top gun but sneaking away for 3 hours from both families has turned into a mission impossible plot.

It’s officially summer shandy/porch rocker season

I love it, and that's 100% honest, but I'm giddy seeing the end just over a week away. Recharge the battrees and crush fall ball.

My son is playing in little league this year. First time really playing baseball but he’s taken to it decently. He’s not going to make all-stars or a travel team or anything, He’s just out there having fun with his friends.

But good lord, the dads in this league (BG East) are begging to have reality TV crews following them around. They tailgate for every game even when their sons AREN’T playing. And when I say tailgating, I mean the works. They’ve got tents, their GMC Denalis, and a full spread all out there under the scoreboard. Damnedest thing I’ve ever seen.

That's just really sad, actually.

Being one of 5 boys, it really wasn't all that big of a deal for neither parent to make one of my BIG TIME Germantown baseball games. I mean those were extremely low on the sport totem pole.

They never missed the weekly football and basketball games. But baseball? Rolling stop as I jumped out the minivan with a couple extra bucks for a snack should they be late in picking me back up. My mom *hated* baseball games and did not apologize for it.

Glad we are now a BIG TIME TRACK for the summer. KHSAA State next week and then AAU district mid June and regions (Knoxville) in late June. Junior Olympics (Greensboro) in early August and then done until Cross County.

I loved baseball but it did take up your whole entire weekend.

-learn tennis*. Your kid ain't going pro...and they can tennis til they're old AF.

*much different experience than school/aau basketball...in a very good way.

-Louisville was sweet. Kids enjoyed forecastle. Air b&b in Paris Town was perfect. Decided to get a room downtown Sunday night as opposed to heading home after the show. Cambria Hotel suited our needs.

-went low key on food: Logan Street market kids had Japanese and korean...wife and I went for west African food. Very good.

-dinner: come back inn, carry out. Solid. Thanks, @SAECATFAN .

-brunch: gralehaus. Best food of the weekend.

-checked out fleur de flea and eyedia with the fam.

^all and all a nice low key weekend...kids got to experience something new. Youngest got to "stretch her legs" by going to the show(s) with peers...no incident. She and her boyfriend got a selfie with Duckwrth (idk, he opened for Billie eilish so she recognized him...he seemed happy).

-good job, river city.

~Maverick...great flick. Tough to see Kilmer going thru what he was at the time of filming.

~Angels/Yanks in Yankee Stadium next 3 day for the MLB buffs. Star power.

~Practices/games which take up more than 2 days a week for ages 8 and under is asinine. Way too many Sparky Anderson wannabees ruining the game for kids.

Talking kids' sports, how many schools do you know of that pull middle school kids up to play high school basketball? My incoming 8th grader just got a schedule for summer basketball for the high school that has either 7:30-9 am practices or 2 games a day all the way up to dead period. Five days a week. 24 total games.

He played some JV as a 7th grader and looked like a deer in the headlights the whole time. He's not that great they just don't have anybody to play in a HS with 1,000 kids. @Strokin_Bandit do you pull kids up?

The cherry on top is that the team my son is on plays for 2+ hours every game. It’s unreal. Games are slotted to go about an hour and a half or hour and 45. Not this team. At least 2 hours every. single. game.

My rule of thumb was to move up middle school kids ONLY IF they were good enough to make varsity.

Also, when I was a little more into my Head Coaching career, I never played more than 20 games in a summer. 16-18 was the sweet spot. I’d travel around my 30 mile radius, maybe host a few games ourselves. I’d always try to get 2 games on each day we had scheduled. We’d practice/workout some, but we also took off a lot. Kids HAVE to have a chance to recover and enjoy their summer break imo.

We’d put in most of our work now (Memorial Day) and go pretty hard until the middle of June. Then we’d cool off a little until dead period. In July, we’d lift/do skill work 3 days a week until school started.

This has been confirmed by the only true insider on rafters. Not confirmed he’s coming but confirmed they are in the process of trying. The guy also said Cal first tried for the heat assistant that everyone was talking about and also a former NBA player that just retired (not from UK), so at least Cal seems to still be trying. We’ll see I guess.

From Kyle Tucker's latest mailbag (you should absolutely subscribe to The Athletic):

I think [Calipari] coaches two more seasons. Won’t shock me if it’s more, but I think that feels like the right number for a couple of reasons. One, after the 2023-24 season, Calipari’s latest contract says he can step down as coach, take over as a special assistant to the AD — basically a university ambassador — and still make a million bucks a year. That is some retirement plan. Two, that gives him this coming season (with a veteran roster and the reigning national player of the year) and the next to make another Final Four run and go out on a high note.

^hit one of my best ever shots on the 6th(?) Par 3 green near the entrance. 2ft from an ace.

Unless you are D1 football or basketball there aren't many full rides for males in any of the other college sports. Most people don't realize that. Baseball has 11.7 scholarships, soccer 9.9, track 12.6,

I think they're doing away with scholarship limits but if they offer 30 baseball scholarships they'll have to find 30 women's scholarships to give out too.

I love baseball more than anything and hope my kid does, too. But I also hope I can avoid the travel ball insanity.

You can baseball until you're old AF, too. Just played on Sunday.

Counterpoint: In my first AB, the pitcher winds up, and just before release, there's a loud SNAP and the ball flies into the first-base dugout. Spiral fracture of the humerus (not funny). Very unsettling to see/hear. Kid is in his 20s. Needless to say, I did not volunteer to take the mound at any point after that. At 40, I basically felt like I should be doing the Smalls and running the ball over to anyone who needed it, rather than throwing.

Counter-counterpoint: After reminding the ump that the count was 1-0, I ripped a standup double off the reliever and that felt good AF. You simply cannot beat the feeling of hitting the sweet spot on a wood bat, no matter your age.

- Counterpoint: Nothing was better than playing baseball all weekend long in the summer as a 9-12 year old. By high school, was over it.

- For some reason, Strokin’s description of the baseball dads tailgating reminded me of the Pappy heist ringleader letting Netflix document his scandal for no other reason seemingly than to let the world know he was a really good softball player. Was the most bizarre framework of a true crime doc I’ve ever watched.

“Yep, we used to just bring barrels of Weller to the softball game to drink after. I remember one time I went 11-14 with 4 dingers and 17 knocked in. Afterwards, we were doing barrel stands.”

His buddy, “Well the first thing you got to know about John is he’s the last guy you’d ever think would steal anything. And the second was he was the best damn softball player in Central Kentucky from 1994-1998. Rocket arm out in right center.”

Wtf am I watching?
