That record vs top 25 opponents since 2015 is brutal... Nothing elite about that.
We have become a middle of the road program. Middle to top 5 or 6 tier teams in the SEC.
We aren’t getting the players we used to and even if we get elite players we still can’t win it all.
For dyed in the blue UK fans this is death by 1000 cuts. Or at least for me it is.
I’m not very confident 2022-23 will be a good let alone great year.
It’s very sad…..

They tied for second in the SEC with an unbalanced schedule.

Come on man. We are down, but not middle of the road.

Well, we were 3rd in our league last year and the year before we were 9th or there abouts.
I’m not feeling this years team can avoid injuries or not be short handed when we must win games.
AU, Ark, UT are all beating us on the recruiting trail.
Sure looks like we are in a fight for top 5 or 6 spots to me.

But they lower seeded than UT. My point is Even though everyone has a bad season from time to time, This year it seems like we aren’t equipped to oust a couple teams, 3 or 4, from the league and win a regular season championship.
We have players for sure, but I’m not sure we have enough in the right spots.

Just my opinion.

2 years ago was obviously terrible. We were tied for 2nd last year. Won three years ago. Tied for second year before that.

If you want to predict 5th or 6th, whatever. But that hasn’t been the result.

We have slipped, and it’s completely reasonable to call that out, imo. I just don’t think there’s any need to exaggerate.

I am not defending Cal. 2010-2015 isn't "irrelevant" nor is 1930-2009. That doesn't make a lick of sense.
sarcasm. those who use statistics to point out that CAL should be fired, think that 2010-2015 never happened or is somehow irrelevant. I maintain that he is still the same damn coach. The game has changed and he has not adjusted...this is my big issue with CAL. Plus, player's first doesn't seem to align with the best for the program philosophy.

Point taken. I hope we can get a few guys to step up and stay healthy.this year. That’s just not been the way it’s gone recently. Lack of skilled depth and injuries are gonna nag us.
I wish we’d use the scholarships we have available.

I've been here 12 years and I say he's right. So step off Darf.
Not the whole time Chicken and you don't even live in Kentucky. Jack Givens was eating dinner at my house in the Summer of 78 when i was 11 years old. Trying to cut down KY fans with your little child talk is getting old. Hell you probably never even lived in Ky low country fried chicken.

I don’t think it’s just a UK specific problem. More so a college basketball is a dying a slow, unbearably hard to watch death. I know when I was a kid in the 2000s and early parts of the Cal era college basketball and Uk were easily my favorite sport/team to watch. Now the NFL and college football dances circles around college basketball and the EPL and MLB honestly are more fun than college basketball. Heck by the time I have kids not even sure what college basketball will even be like

lol people been saying "college basketball is dying" since before the one and done rule was made back in 06 or whatever, and yet every year we watch UK no matter what and we were all going crazy in 12 and 15. Sounds like you're too young but downtown lex was wild after we won the chip, iykyk

Wow....wonder who was elevated to a bigger role in recruiting/talent evaluation in '16??? Couldn't be a correlation at all right?

Now I will say the league and their stubborn arrogance has ignored a few guys Calipari tried to tell them would be better than they expected and they chose to ignore it. If you redrafted now, you think SGA and Tyrese Maxey aren't going higher? The dip in talent was my biggest criticism of the program and it's on Cal for letting a staff be weakened when it should've been revamped after '15 instead of assumed it would just continue to roll with anyone on the staff.
That redrafting stuff could be applied to every year and every other team.
