So who is available that we could add, either sign & re-classify, OR transfer portal. In particular, what portal players, some of whom declared for the draft but will pull out, have not chosen another school and we know we have contacted or we (fans think) should contact.

Prospects:
Miller
Theiro
Dillingham
Wagner (longshot would reclassify)

Portal:
Mosley (Missouri St)
Hunter (Iowa St)
M.Smith (Chattanooga)
Mayer (Baylor)
A.Davis (Detroit-Mercy)
T.Allen (NM St)
Green (N. Iowa)
Ramey (Texas)
Lofton (La Tech)
Baldwin (Milw-Wisc)

Others?

Miller's going pro, Theiro is committing to you guys, Wagner's 16 and I don't think actually can reclassify, Hunter is likely committing to Louisville, Davis has already narrowed his list, Mosley's probably going to Kansas, Green is trying for the NBA but his dad is a coach at Iowa State now if he comes back, I don't see a top tier forward or wing being willing to accept a role that he would get at UK with their current roster at those positions.

I think at least two of these things happen. In a dream world, all three!

Thiero commits
Dillingham reclass picks UK
Baldwin withdraws from draft and picks UK
I'm curious as to where this Dillingham reclassing rumor started. Dillingham just turned 17 in January. Meaning if he reclassified he would be signing up for 2 years in college. Travis Graf has also flat out stated that Dillingham and DJ Wagner will not play ball together so him committing to UK would both sign him up for 2 years in college and potentially playing with Wagner (Obviously he could transfer but I think the 2 years in college thing is more of the factor here). Travis also mentioned on the Louisville board that there were no discussions that he was aware of, of him reclassifying.

I would be on the lookout for a developmental big. Felt like we kept dipping our toes into the lower ranked bigs this spring. Maybe a Ugonna Kingsley reclass or something of the like. Not something I deem a big need but just going off what we’ve seen.

@ralphdaltonfan or @Kerwinwaltonsafro have any input for us here?? Is it Thiero and done??
Really going to be about the Draft Process and who does what. If things go as expected with top 2 priorities staying in Draft (Sharpe/Miller) then it could be matter if anyone reaches out after withdrawing from the Draft and is too good to pass up. I think they'll add 1 more player in addition to Toppin's likely return and Thiero but that's only what I've been told as I don't personally know.

I don't give a damn what Graf said, he's been wrong quite a few times in the past. Travis Branham on Andy Sweeney's show said that Dillingham and Wagner would have no problem playing together. The reclass thing will work itself out. Dillingham would probably be fine with playing 2 years. A player of his stature at UK would probably make 2 or 3 million in NIL over a two year period.

It could be very hopeful. I'm just responding to what I've been told and like rest of you, I don't personally know. The Draft Combine hasn't began, nor has the Draft Lottery which is May 17th. UK coaches can talk with players who announce they've entered the Portal while focusing on the Draft as well. So that will be another avenue right now that I'd expect UK to pursue/keep quiet unless the player/his camp leak it out.

I would not be surprised if UK adds one or more players. Theiro I think will pick UK (along with everyone else). Some talk that Dillingham may reclass and I would love to see that happen. UK as many have pointed out needs to go after another wing, someone that can play the 3.

Right, that's all fine - you can have your own opinion. But my question was where is this idea that he's even considering reclassifying coming from? Did Travis also mention that on Sweeny's show? That was my overall question.

UK needs 3/4 They only have Livingston, toppin… Get another 6’8 6’9 shooter/slasher.. if he could get cleared Keyonte Johnson from Florida… he’s a perfect plug n play player

If our roster is good then one of two things is about to happen. We are either going to suck and it will be the last of Cal at UK. Or Cal is about to pull his best coaching performance ever and prove he belongs here longer.
I doubt it’s either of those things. It’s a good team that will probably have a good season but due to odds not win the title and probably not make the final 4.

For trying to figure out opportunities for bringing in players, I just randomly thought of MPG for our players. As a reminder there’s 200 minutes in a game.

Wheeler- 31 MPG kept this the same as last year
Wallace- 33 MPG, I used Kellan last year as my start as I believe it’ll be hard to keep Cason off the court
Collins- 18 MPG big jump for him by MPG and I might be underselling it if he wins the battle with Toppin that he definitely could based on talent. But a conservative projection for a sophomore former top 20 recruit.
Livingston-22 MPG. Not sure he’d love the limited PT but I think his offensive game just isn’t refined enough to command what his high school ranking would suggest.
Fredrick- 20 MPG. He averaged 25 MPG as one of the most efficient players in the country on a top 10 team in Iowa.
Reeves-20 MPG, big drop from his minutes at Illinois State but the huge rise in competition would be the reason why
Toppin- 22 MPG. Slight increase from last year as we hope for a jump in year 3 from him
Ware- 8 MPG. Probably some DNP’s but a former top 50 recruit in his third year should expect to get on the floor some.
Oscar- 32 MPG just keeping that consistent from last year.

Adding those up I come up with 206(did it in my head so could be off!). I know there will be some injuries throughout and some DNP’s but in general I would expect close to my projections above.

The only things I can think fans that want more legitimate players would be thinking are: they don’t like Sahvir and want his minutes dramatically cut(he would just leave, I could have seen this if Sharpe returned forcing Cason to PG) and/or they have zero faith in Fredrick due to the injuries. I get the worry about Fredrick but convincing someone to come and thus take his minutes based on the thought he’s been injured a lot before might be a stretch.

Just my thoughts. I’d like one more decent player for depth beyond Thiero but it’s hard to find good fits due to the current roster.

I could see Calipari trying to convince Dillingham to reclassify if he feels DJ is going to UL and this is his last year coaching.

One can dream.

So there are probably a couple of guys who have entered the portal just hasn’t been announced yet

Collins will not start over Toppin. I don't see Collins playing the wing as he did not show any outside shots last season.

It's going to be fun when we have our annual injuries to hear Cal whining about not having enough to scrimmage with.It not like he actually could have done something to help with that.
But that stops him from having his friends kids on the team. He does that every year and how do these players really help you in practice?

I just don’t see where there is room for anyone else, unless it’s a superstar or a project. Thiero is the 10th guy. He is a project most likely.

Sharpe, Miller, a reclassed Dillingham, or maybe Baldwin for a superstar? All those seem like big time long shots.

I think Cal has his 9-man rotation set and Thiero makes 10 and won’t play much at all.

Wheeler, Fredrick, Wallace, Reeves, Livingston, Toppin, Collins, and Tshiebwe will be the main 8, with Ware reprising his role as backup Center.

That's the problem with going only 10 scholarship players and its ********.We have 13 scholarships. No excuse not to even try to get 2 or 3 SENIORS to fill out the roster if we cant get Baldwin or A reclassify...I mean I'm sure we can find some quality seniors that would love to play at UK for a season. They dont have to be all americans, just college experienced players that we can go to for some minutes if injuries hit.
I've never understood the logic of short rosters.Your kicking yourself in the *** doing it.

Heres the issue. What kid looking for playing time, a kid that could make a solid impact at UK....what kid of that level is going to want to come with the roster already in place? You guys MIGHT have room to add another SG but its clear Cal likely plans to use Wallace/Wheeler much like he used Washington and Wheeler and you have bodies all over the place at the 3 and 4 and Oscar at the 5. People keep screaming for more players but where are the minutes coming from? What really good wing is going to come split minutes with CJ Frederick and Livingston? or play behind Wheeler?

Our roster is set minus Adou Thiero who is expected to commit soon. Time to roll the ball out.
But do you roll with Collins being the main backup ? Cal isn’t in a spot where he can make any gambles. I think they need another big, cause it’s do or die time for Cal. And trust me I love Cal, but he’s not getting the results.

What is the over/under on the number of games Fredrick will miss due to injury(somewhere between 10 and 13) Wheeler probably 5 to 8

Is was talked about before the first time when he committed to NC state and people have assumed he would do it again but he has constantly said he isn’t so I guess he wont I bet he might pull a bagley and reclass after peach jam

No I agree. You guys will need a perfect season out of this roster for it to be a Final Four level team but its just hard to convince guys to go to UK just to be back up plans.

Ah I see. I just hadn't seen it mentioned anywhere but here like a whispered rumor and then Travis said he hadn't heard anything about it from Dillinghams camp. I can't see many kids following in Bates footsteps and forcing themselves into college for 2 years regardless of the NIL deals they can get.
