Should be pretty similar to UCLA this year who returned everyone and were definitely good, but don't have quite the top end talent that others do. I think Manek is going to be sorely missed as his shooting really allowed their offense to take off. I'll take sahvir + Oscar over love + bacot.

So odd how players come back at UNC, Kansas giving them teams laden with upperclassmen, while Duke and UK lose most freshman every year.
UNC and Kansas players have seemed much more loyal to their progtam than our players for some time now. I have been jealous about their programs for about the last decade. I am excited to get Oscar back next year. I hope he blows up bigger than ever. Wins a Championship and changes minds that coming back to school is a good thing.

Could be good news for us. Preseason #1 rankings put a lot of pressure on teams. Teams that start #1 rarely finish #1. I am good with us being #2 or just somewhere in the top 5-10. Rather be one of the favorites than THE favorite, if that makes sense.

Boy you can't help degrading one of our players or coaches. You are the biggest idiot Troll. Tyty is a lottery pick, uh, your Tarheel is not getting drafted. Oh he's way better. Idiot
You’re so far out of touch with reality guy. Who gives a **** about lottery picks? I mean we had two. One injured off and on and the other riding the pine watching our injured players. It’s got us a first round out. I want guys who want titles and want to be at Uk. UNC made a run made the final will return their entire team except the big white dude. We got put out in the first round and really haven’t upgraded our team any. You tell me which team is in a better position going into next season? UNC is the biggest threat to our tradition

He missed the game tying 3 against KU which would of sent it to overtime.
Ty missed the tying shot against St Peters. Doesn’t matter which one is/was better. Love is back at UNC which is 10 times better for them than Ty leaving is for the Cats

Dude, move to North Carolina, be a Tarheel fan. All you do is talk crap on our team. Our tradition was built without you, it will continue. It must suck for you Wheeler is coming back. He totally dominated those Tarheel guards. They can't stop Oscar. Bacot couldn't do crap on Oscar. Bring em on. Everything you say is wrong. You are an idiot troll.. FACT

Before the 78 season and before the 2012 season, UNC was ranked one and Kentucky two.

All I ask is that Creighton doesn't injure my fu&*ing point guard so we can actually settle it on the court this time around.

Let both teams stay healthy, play well, and give the country the game it deserves next April.

??? You didn't play Creighton that year. UNC lost in the first round to San Fran. It was also the season that William and Mary upset your team.

Nah UCLA didn’t have the interior presence that Bacot provides. Plus Love has a much higher ceiling than Juzang or that short point guard they had.

UNCheat will be pretty good next year, but I think they’re going to be overrated similar to UCLA this year. They got really hot late, but they were an 8 seed for a reason. They had some TERRIBLE losses, some to bad teams. They did improve in the second half of the season, but I think some of it is fool’s gold. I see them as a Top 20 team, but Top 5? No, though many will have them there just based on how they finished the season. Just my opinion.

Kerwin is obv talking about the 2012 season. UNC's PG Kendall Marshall was egregiously undercut on a layup by a Creighton player in their second round game. That knocked Marshall out and UNC's potential run to the F4 was cut short. Had UNC played UK in the title game (which was possible given the bracket layout) UK would've been favored but possibly UNC would've given UK a stiffer contest than KU did.

Note that Creighton was also taking cheap shots (slapping down hard, etc.) on UNC's center John Henson's injured hand throughout that game.

According to torvik, from Feb. 19 through the end of the season UNC was #3 in the nation (UK was #32). Under Roy Williams, UNC teams often peaked in March. In Davis' first season, UNC peaked in March.

Playing well in March/April > playing well in December.

Quite the contrary, Love loves Chapel Hill and his teammates. UNC's NIL machine (after a slow start) is finding its legs and athletes, including Love, will benefit to a significant amount financially.

Certainly, UK has NIL mechanisms in place and is ready to utilize them where necessary (especially with the ascending football program). However, I think the mentally that Calipari brings to the table hurts UK cbb. Cal promotes the one-and-done route and playing for the name on the back of the jersey. This doesn't happen at UNC.

Don't get me wrong, Love would be gone if he was a first round pick but there is a different type of atmosphere in Chapel Hill when compared to Lexington when it comes to playing for the name on the front of the jersey. Love could have left and had some good work outs and probably been a late second round pick and stuck to an NBA roster. He elected not to because the NIL money is going to take care of him AND because of the team first atmosphere Roy Williams (and now Davis) has established at UNC. It makes a difference.

UK really needs to have a breakout year in 22/23 and promote Oscar as the new UK cbb model. Come to UK and become a legend. Grow as a young man. Make substantial NIL money and don't leave until you have had the experience of playing for an NCAA championship.

Yep, a big year incoming for Cat basketball imo. Another first round exit would be a disaster for the program.

Thanks! I figured that he was referring to another season but was curious which one. Now that you mention it, I do remember Marshall getting hurt but had completely forgotten about it being Creighton. I can pull that up on youtube and see the play.

No problem.

And, again, UK was the clear cut best team in 2012 and likely to beat a healthy UNC team in the title game had it run out that way.

edit to add: the angles on the replays of that play aren't the best.
second edit: you might have overlooked that Kerwin mentioned 2012 in his post, ooops Kerwin didn't mention 2012 but was replying to a post that mentioned 2012.

Was he? Lol. My comments about TyTy have zero to do with NBA. I don't even really watch the NBA any longer.

But here are Love's stats March on...was it him or the people around him that got UNC to FF?

Like I said he had a couple of good tourney games....big games and I gave him credit for that.

Actually, what I missed was that the poster he replied to mentioned 2012. I should have seen that!! LOL

I watched the play on youtube and it really appered to be a normal "push" that we see all the time. Kendall even bounced up and finished the game looking good the whole time. It was more of a freak injury than anything from what I COULD see. Of course, as you said, the angles aren't the best. If I saw it live, i might have a different opinion.

Well, except for the fact that he couldn't use his right hand to dribble and didn't attempt a two-hand pass for the rest of the game, I agree! :)

He very clearly favors his left hand in dribbling and passing but he does a darn good job getting the ball up court and passing to the open man. He even uses the right hand to dribble briefly. Considering it was broken, that was a heck of a performance!

One thing to remember about UCLA in 2021 is they lost their last 4 games before the NCAAT started. They also relied heavily on Juzang offensively carrying a load during the best 6-game stretch he had in over 2 years there. Such single star-focused offense is almost the definition of getting hot.

UNC’s offense was more multifaceted, and took off after personnel and coaching tweaks not because any one person got hot. Also UNC’s defense was actually slightly more dominant than the offense during the stretch run (though both were top 10).

Projected first round pick. Love had amazing tournament and UNC made a run to the title game. He’s draft stock in his career is at an all time high. Next season ain’t guaranteed any of that.

Projected first round pick? That would be news to both Love and Hubert Davis. UNC, like UK, has contacts throughout the NBA to gauge a player's interest level. I believe Love is receiving good information and that it's well known he has a 0.0001% chance of being drafted in the first round of this year's NBA Draft.
