Started RIghteous Gemstones a few days ago. Mercy. Maybe I missed the warning about the abundance of wiener shots. Just that name, "Uncle Baby Billy" is worth giving season 1 a go. "Who wants to s and old man's d?"

During Easter service yesterday, a round of storms knocked power out at our entire church. The backup generator kicked on but it only powers partial lights and no AC. So for 20 minutes or so I stood in a packed church, suited up, holding a sleeping infant wrapped in her blanket, sweating through everything, until the pastor finally gave up, saying "how bout one more song and lets call it" Felt bad for the staff- having one of the two days a year that most people show up, pretty much wiped out.

Still just cant get into the NBA, even with the playoffs.

A lot of you guys reached out over the weekend congratulating me on the BHM Stallions big last-minute win over the NJ Generals. Was a great game and I imagine the Stal's are going to turn a lot of heads this season.

#MingioneOUT

"Anatomy of a Scandal" on Netflix is a nice, quick series to watch.

The Savannah Bananas played here over the weekend- and by all accounts of friends who went, it was worth the price of admission.

* I'm coming down to Keeneland on Thursday. Hit me up. Hanging with the poors & degenerates near the start/finish.

* My 9-yr old scored the game winning goal Friday night with a couple minutes to go. Pretty cool.

The team they were playing had a handful of girls that defected from our team last year. The transfer portal is everywhere. Even 9-yo soccer. I know it is petty of me, but I was pretty damn smug postgame.

A couple of those parents were extremely outspoken about how much better their new team was every time we ran into them the past year. Hey toots, FALSE.

* Song of the Day: Sometimes it snows in April - Prince

This weather is ********.

* Tatum is about the only ex Dookie I like. Dude can ball. That was an exciting 4th Q, man. I hate Kyrie with a passion, but he was ridiculous for much of the 4th.

* How is Durant only 33? I would've guessed 38.

* I love my Camp Chef Woodwind with wifi. Pure awesomeness. It was more of an "art" to use the old Weber Smoky Mountain, but I don't miss having to get up and check my set up every 2 hours all night long.

Much more versatile, too. The Sear Box was a nice add on, too.

* Tired AF. Did not sleep well the last 2 nights.

* Guess I better pop open a Monster Zero and get my *** back to work.

-The Bananas are in my IG feed all the time. Looks hilarious.

-I think my son hits the griddy more than actually walking. He's becoming quite the rapscallion.

-Our buddy, Daniel, from the early 4th St barstar days, runs most of those Louisville based drag brunches. Looks fun af.

-Speaking of drag, Sir Elton crushed it. Just 2 hours of banger after banger. Started on time, tight production, lots of jam sessions. Old guy moved around stage like he needed a new hip, but that voice was still amazing.

-I actually like the Trader Joe cups better than Justin's.

-$500 smoker grill is really on the lower end of outdoor haute cuisine. Big fan of the camp chef and sear station.

-Kiddo off for Easter, so I took the day, and we're headed to the movies.

- I'll be there Thursday, William. I'll hit you up.

-Tax day. Ugh.

- Clark touched (non-GYERO) on it, but no day feels better than the day after Easter for those in church staff life. There's so much attention on Easter Sunday service. Way above-average crowd, lots of first-timers or Easter-onlys, pressure to deliver a 5-star message, dressed up more than usual, everything (building, music, etc.) expected to be spot-on, etc. I got home, sleptwalked through lunch with the family, then crashed for six hours. And our church is really small and laid-back. Can't imagine how nerve-wracking it must be for those at large churches where the expectations are higher.

- MY Seattle Kraken have added Macklemore and Marshawn Lynch as part-owners. Well, one outta two ain't bad, I guess.

- Regret not hitting up one of the two Elton concerts. Saw him 20 years ago in Evansville, but it was a stripped-down tour with just him and a piano. His voice was stronger back then, obviously, but still feels like I missed the true EJ experience.

- I know nobody cares about CollegeBaseballSucka, but I'm over Mingione. An SEC baseball Twitter account I follow was making a lot of excuses for him (northern-most SEC school, no real recruiting base, other perennially-strong programs in the conference, etc.) over the weekend, but Stoops was up against those same exact obstacles and has still managed to succeed. The difference is that Stoops lands good players and develops them into very good (or great) players, while Mingione lands good players who never seem to get better. You've got a brand new ballpark that was 33 percent full for a recent game against a Top 25 conference opponent (Ole Miss). There's a lot of $$$ being left on the table by not bringing in a steadier hand. There are five non-power 5 programs currently ranked in the Top 25. You don't think at least one of those guys would like the opportunity to try coaching at an SEC program with a new stadium?

I'm a Christian, but all of that is why I don't go to church. When I DO go to an actual brick and mortar, I generally leave feeling way less "Christian" than I did before I got there.

And that's why we keep things as simple as possible. I dressed up a bit more, but otherwise, we didn't really do much differently than we do any other Sunday, outside of getting more donuts for those who get there early.

UCL - it's axiomatic that "Older Guy" is going to share his views on any and every thing. You already KNOW this.
The best part of UK grad school was when you had some old(er) guy or a Donovan's Scholar in your class. They would drone on forever with the professors and you never really had to do much of anything in class.

With all of the lessons that are on youtube I don't see why anyone would want to actually attend a class as a Donovan's Scholar. I really enjoy math, and I'll bring up trig and calc lectures/problems just to work them for fun and to keep the skills sharp. (which sounds stupid, because I'm never going to use Calculus again in my life, but I just genuinely enjoy doing math problems. Like some folks like WORDLE)

Which reminds me. Why are you not allowed to study on your own, and if possible, pass the bar exam, and then practice law? Fairly sure you can be a CPA w/o a degree in Accounting.

Wyvern - Horn parts and drums. Whatever you need. (I'm fairly certain that Bonzo can kick my *** on the kit. I'm self taught and tend to "over fill" if you know what I mean. Honestly, I'll probably just go off on a tangent, and start to do my own thing half way through the song. Short attention span and what not.

Also, if you haven't ever heard this LP, check it out. A person with your sensibilities and musical taste should dig it.

-just picked up a Toco djembe and an LP hand drum (single bongo?) at the goodwill auction site on the cheap.

^eyeing a set of LP congas, and bongos as well.

Sounds like we’re halfway to some Dizzy Gillespie covers (Lower register on the trumpet though, I don’t have the chops I did back in college) 😂

I think you can do that in a state or two. And I think you should be able to do that everywhere. Law school is a joke and 98% worthless. I’m team “bring back apprenticeships.”
^ Law school is fine as far as it goes, but agree it needs a semester apprenctice/practicum requirement. And just scrap the bar exam altogether. I'm far from woke, but also won't pretend that bar exam requirements weren't primarily aimed at keeping minorities out of the legal practice...

(now back to billing at $695/hr...)

- Lumber is taking a dive. Which is 2 months earlier than last year.

This industry is an older group, and it seems most are ready to get out with a recession coming. It’s going to sting this go round.

Then, only discussing things in my company, we have 40 year olds running stores(our top 20 stores) and getting over a million year end bonuses! 3 years of that and my buddy who ran the Vegas store quit and is coming back to Ky to live off the land.

- Easter is possibly the best holiday. Typically April is better weather, and the kids are as excited to run and find eggs as they are to open presents in December. Also just being a fixated Sunday is perfect.

- Sharpe is expected to be the 6th pick in the draft. I don’t understand what rules it is people are having trouble with as to whether he is eligible or not. They are clear AF.

- I’ll never get my sod!

- Per my 5YO candy is the best thing ever, ya understand!

So milk chocolate or dark chocolate, it doesn’t matter.

- Scottsdale AZ or Charleston SC? Looking at fall break in October.

Struggle with church is that it's supposed to be about community. While I believe in the basic tenets of the catholic church, community is lacking. Sure, we'll go to the festivals and fish frys but people don't stick around after mass, it's just checking a box. I'm as guilty as anyone of this behavior.
Every year I up my withholding and still pay a lot. I know goal is to be as close to 0 as possible but have not mastered the art.
Missed Elton, Stones, Johnny Cash and Willie in their primes. Always on look out for for bands to see before they die or fail to age gracefully. Never cared for any live recordings I've heard of Stones, so can't imagine Mick's live voice has gotten any better through the years.

There are already too many lawyers and eliminating the requirement to go to law school and/or take the bar exam would just make it easier for more to join the ranks. I'm not sure why any current lawyer, or any consumer of legal services, would want that.

You're overlooking one important thing; just how humorous I would be in a court room.

If all of the "I really like arguing" tools had an easier pathway into law, the world would be a dramatically worse place. HAVING SAID THAT the bar is garbage and apprenticeship would make much better attorneys.

-Kooky has posted about that Yoder no less than 50x, and still doesn't have one.

<--- went to a drag brunch yesterday to celebrate Easter. Was a blast.

-Office Lady brings in the Trader Joe's dark chocolate PB Cups on occasion...they're fire. Reese's never really been my thing.

Travelled before the dribble. Travelled after the dribble.

Definitely coming back, #BBN4Life
