Will Brooks return?

Our fans are all over the place.

We wanted players to stay all 4 years so we could watch them grow instead of the 1 or 2 (now likely NONE)-and done types. We know from experience that some are late bloomers (Jorts, Oscar). Brooks could be that type (or maybe not). Yet reading this, half of the responders want him to just leave, which goes all against all of our desires to see players stay longer!

Brooks a solid player who plays hard.
I asked for evidence not circular reasoning.

It certainly wasn't evident in the games. Dude rebounded worse than Tyler Ulis. Body never changed in 3 years. Terrible handles, never improved. Terrible shooter, never improved. Terrible defender, never improved.

The evidence actually points much more toward laziness than some sort of great work ethic. 👍

Smart people would not make him a starter but Cal..........
When you run out of material just bash the coach. You remind me of a little league dad.

we want all these kids to come back until they can’t anymore. I suspect a lot of people can’t get over brooks and the kneeling stuff. You wanna win or play politics?

I’d rather not have him back. His defense is terrible. From the Duke game to Notre Dame to St. Peter’s. Getting beat to the block for layups and not even close

Getting corrected by the staff during games and then yelling back

Taking shots he can’t make in crucial times. Cal gave him the ball with less than a minute to go against St Peters instead of Oscar

He won’t be any better simply because he is a year older.
You’re right. It’s simply impossible to improve. No one ever does that.

I hate politics on both sides and didn't give a crap about the kneeling.I'm frustrated that Brooks continues to make freshman mistakes and hasn't improved on his ball handling, shooting or rebounding at all.

Fair enough about the politics. I feel the same. But you don’t just throw away a senior with experience. That’s silly. Look at all the kids that have had big senior years, the harelsons, the Willis’ etc. Brooks can help us next season.

Huh. I noticed you didn't even bother to show up to scold your Cal slurping brethren in the Dontaie Allen-bashing thread. What a hypocrite.

They brought the politics into it.

spent his time practicing activism rather than improving b'ball skills

hope begok takes him to lala land, where they both will fit in perfectly

Activism? Brooks came to practice, worked hard and represented UK very well. Was he the best player, no he wasnt, but there is no reason to talk about him in a negative manner.

Many here like to claim Dontaie didn’t work hard in practice. They then tell you you’re wrong if you say Dontaie did work hard in practice. The argument then turns into, “well, how would you know he did or didn’t work hard in practice?!” Then the exact same people claim that Brooks worked hard in practice without any evidence of it whatsoever. Absolutely hilarious and quite hypocritical honestly.

If Brooks made as big of a jump between his freshman and last year to next year he would be really good. He’s never gonna be a great defender but he can be good enough. His handle is what needs the most work and that may never get better but he did improve on trying to finish plays and not start/finish them.

Keion is not as bad as some of you act like. He’s a role player lol his biggest issue is that he’s inconsistent but tbh that’s most role players in general. But obviously he’s not going to the NBA because he can’t shoot 3s and he can’t dribble. Until he changes those things is not gonna happen

The problem is Cal doesn’t treat him like a role player. He doesn’t sit his *** on the bench and play Toppin or Hopkins when Brooks is getting destroyed on D, taking and bricking dumb shots, and turning the over at crucial times. Cal treats Brooks as if he’s some kind of star. He couldn’t hold Darius Miller’s jock, and Miller didn’t even start because MKG was better. We are a long way from those days.

He most likely returns and graduates, he is a starter and Cal seems to owe him something.

Again, based on his near total lack of improvement and soft body that never got stronger, still not going along with this "he practiced hard" storyline.

His mediocre play aside...

Players who are "representing UK well" don't call for the Arena named after that school's legendary beloved coach to be renamed when you ADMIT to not knowing **** about him.

They also don't represent UK well when they kneel for the National Anthem in support of a bunch of Marxist BS.

The biggest problem with Brooks isn’t even his fault necessarily. It’s that Cal is absolutely infatuated with him. Cal will play that dude as many minutes as humanly possible if he comes back, warranted or not. It’s ridiculous.
This is one of my pain points with Cal. It's like he believes these guys will somehow "play through" issues and "figure it out". Meanwhile, them flailing to figure it out costs us possessions quite often.

I'd still like to see him back. I think a summer's worth of work for him and Wheeler would do wonders for their game. And, I've always desired Cal get away from the one-and-done only approach and do something combo with experience & youth.

Just because you believe it to be Marxist BS doesn’t make it Marxist BS. You know who doesn’t think it’s Marxist BS? Many UK fans like myself. Most athletes on the various sports teams. Many of the coaches (including the very conservative Mark Stoops who marched with his team during a BLM protest). You are entitled to your opinion about it but you do not get to force that opinion onto others. They get to express their opinion in the way they choose whether you like it or not.

Brooks has been a very good representative of the university. He has never gotten in any sort of trouble. By all accounts, he goes to class and has been very gracious with the fans. He isn’t the most consistent player but when he is on the court, he plays with heart and passion which is all
Anyone can ask for.

People like you get too hung up with thinking your opinion is law in regards to current events and it’s not. Everyone has the right to express their views in whatever manner they choose as long as it is within the law. Don’t like it? That’s just too damn bad. Maybe you should whine a little more about it. That always seems to help.

Well, the organization, BLM, is absolutely, 1,000% a Marxist organization. That, sir, is a factoid.

That’s fair. I don’t know why it would take 4 years for a taller and faster player to be a good defender over shorter, smaller player

Defense also requires knowing how they offensive player will hurt you the most. If it’s by the 3 pointer, you take away the 3. If it’s by driving it’s by taking away the drive

The moral of this story is just win championships and there will be no complaints. If you're not doing that complaints will come from every angle, even when contradictory, because they don't know what to do with their hands otherwise.
