If people can't post without nearly having a stroke, they should really consider taking a break from this. I am assuming that most posters are simply posting their opinions with the realization that it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Reading the opinions from others is interesting; however, some think they should be able to shut down any thread that they don't agree with. We all have the power to simply not participate in any thread that we don't like. It is pretty simple. By the way, I find your posts interesting so keep them coming.
isn't Joker Phillips from Ky? I know basketball isn't his thing but no way he can tear it up like he did football. Less players to recruit. What do you think? Maybe a coach in waiting type thing.

Outside of Billy Donovan, there are no former assistants or players that have the credentials.

-With the way that the transfer portal is going, and what recruiting has become, do you honestly see any NBA coach that would be willing to go to the college level?

-It pains me to say this, but Duke is doing it the right way. They won't be hurt by the portal because the players already have a relationship with next season's coach.

Whomever it might be, it is time that UK starts developing a quality coaching tree.
That has been a topic among a few friends… Cal’s coaching tree… I can’t think of any worth diddly… And that explains much….

It is amazing that you would include the word think in one of your posts! The first time you think will truly be your first time. So, when will it happen? Let me guess! It will occur when you remove your head from CCC's butt. That won't happen any time soon.🤣

If you can't coach, there isn't much of anything to teach to others.

Some of you people would be out there hiring Happy Osborne if you’d gotten the chance I never seen something so ridiculous in all my life.

Fact of the matter is whether a coach is homegrown or not don’t mean a thing. You’ve got to have talent and the ability to handle the spotlight so all those folks wanting Chris Holtmann step aside the big boys are doing the talking

God I hope this is sarcasm.
Surely, it has to be. I would be curious about who the best five (5) Mountain players have been in the last ten (10) and twenty (20) years. I would define the Mountains as being at least 30 miles east of most of I-75, if not more.

Talking?? No thanks big boys!! We have been getting nothing but talk from CCC for the past 7-8 years. The last thing UK needs is more talking. Lol

if we are going to throw players out that have zero experience rn the only one that should be mentioned is Rondo.

everyone that’s ever played w Rondo calls him a basketball genius and the smartest guy on the floor. Been successful at the highest level. Likely HOFer. Multiple titles

Ulis was great here and had a ton of heart but nobody has ever glowed over him being a basketball savant.

Well, if the idea is for Cal to groom a former player as a candidate, I don’t see many options.

There’s no chance Cal is ever gonna take anyone from the Pitino family as an assistant. And I don’t know any of his former players here (other than Brad) who’ve expressed an interest. Do you have anyone specific in mind?

You do have to consider the talent level of the kids he has been coaching. That would certainly improve if he was coaching at any top D1 program.
No I don’t. Mark pope is a loser. It will be a bleak freakin day if Kentucky ever has to settle for a hire like that.

BYU got better players before pope got there. What makes you think he would recruit well anywhere?

You must think I am. I don't see any other posts with your nonsense. Why are you so butt hurt? Are you so sensitive that you can't handle being challenged?

Are you so self conscious you can't post without being a smart ***?

And in the UNC Model, Guthridge made 1 or 2 Final Fours at UNC too. Reward for his service. If we're speaking honestly, the guy many on here have been lauding past 2 yrs (Cronin) would've beaten UNC by double digits if he didn't play stall ball the entire game. Cronin plays everything close and you are bound to get bit by that. He did in the UNC game where he clearly had the better team, but lost because he kept game close, didn't play faster and that allowed 1 player (Love) to take over the game.

Cronin chose to lose playing his way-grind it out--rather than just run them off the court when several opportunities to do that within that game presented itself.
Sounds like you just summed up Cal in a nutshell. Very similar approach

He is absolutely grooming that little toad. Cal won’t leave until he gets Brad a good division one coaching job somewhere

Are you so self conscious you can't post without being a smart ***?
I can't believe you are back for more. You just don't give up even though you are not much of a challenge. Don't share this but I am going to see if ignoring you will encourage you to do something productive like punching yourself in the face.

LMD little mini d*ck? Here I was thinking that you were leading this crusade, didn't you suggest to report to Mitch? Anyway, I see you aren't serious about taking up arms and descending upon the AD office, you just talk, you have little D energy. Show me what you are made of

Holtmann would have fans clamoring for the current version of Calipari to come back. He's a highly overrated coach who has Ohio State fans wanting him gone.

For those who disagree...go look up his record. It's amazing he got a job at Butler. Been to 1 Sweet 16 at Butler/Ohio State (None at OSU), never won a Conference or Conference Tournament. But yeah, he's the answer to Kentucky because he's a native of the state. Rupp would be empty by January watching a Holtmann coached team run a set for 20 secs down 6 with 30 secs left in game, then he calls a TO-just to run the play and lose by 4 or 3 if you are lucky.
Agree w this completely and I’m very concerned that is why is #1 on Mitch’s list.

I’d rather have Pope or Casey over Holtman if we are only looking at ppl w UK ties.

This growing debacle created by CCC is all the evidence required that UK needs a homegrown coach to get us out of this mess. Unfortunately, this isn't likely to happen because UK doesn't develop former players into coaches. We need a head coach who loves the program as much as the fans so that the program regains the top priority instead of CCC and the players. It is clear that Cal has made UK third to him being first and players second. There is zero reason to believe that this will ever change because Cal has never considered the program and fans as his top priority. Unfortunately, there is a zero chance of a former player becoming the coach at this point.
I was thinking that the other day. A guy that truly loves this program and what it is about.
