There are people who say get your priorities right, it's just a game. On the face of it, I agree with that, as I get older and watch my kids get older, it has become less important over time. But the flip side of that is sports is a supposed to be a pleasant distraction from real problems but it's not an escape, it's another reminder of the terrible state of things and one more thing I'm reminded of that I have no control over. The only silver lining is that there are things that people of all the walks of life, political persuasions, race, religion if they are UK fans can completely agree on something and there's some comfort in that.

Wayne is rooting for UT to win the National Championship. Lol.

Amazing how you just continue to top yourself.
I’m in a bad place right now. I’m turning into the sports version of guys like Bill Kristol who - since their favored GOP candidate lost and Trump won - have wanted nothing but far left candidates to win and the Dems to control the house, senate and presidency. Just burn it all down.
Yeah - it’s a ****** look and makes no sense - but that’s where I am right now. F Cal.

Oh - and F you too.

It's Brooks which means my constant refreshing of sports sites and cats paw for the Cal resignation announcement is for naught.

Love Oscar but if he comes back we are looking at another season of pounding the rock inside. He isn't exactly a polished low post scorer. Of course that is likely to happen regardless.

Besides Oscar and Sharpe, honestly, who gives a f*** who returns next year?

Is Wheeler going to stop being a spaz, grow 4 inches, and learn how to shoot? No.

Is Brooks going to quit being a ***** who settles for contested 15ft jumpers, or even attempt to grab some rebounds? No.

Is Collins going to gain 20-25lbs to avoid being rag-dolled against physical bigs? No.

Is Hopkins going to get some handles and a jumper to be a serviceable 3? No.

Per Matt on KSR today, either Brooks or Hopkins will be back next year but not both. Who you got? I'll take Hopkins, I guess, but I'm also just in shellshock and don't really care.

lol wgas!!! Neither of those players should be here anyway, and we ain't winning crap till we replace Brooks' and Hopkins' with TJones, Patterson, AD, etc etc type legit NBA talent.

If that dude can't recruit or cheat anymore, then get him out! That's his entire schtick. I'm gonna get a team chock full of NBA players so good we won't have to run plays!

...which is one of the dopest things I've ever seen in sports, but Cal ain't that dude anymore. He's an old loser. He doesn't get all the good players anymore, and he still doesn't run plays. Recipe for disaster.

The thing is…he is/was the perfect center to go 4 guards out and pick and roll all day with the floor spread. You didn’t even need another rebounder because he gets them all.

Didn’t see it once.

Allen would have been an awesome 4 for this team. 6’7”, long wingspan, sneaky good rebounder and isn’t getting beat off the dribble by 4’s like he did 2’s and 3’s. And, before Cal screwed his head all up by calling him out every time he played, could stretch the floor.

Oscar, Allen, Grady, TyTy, Wheeler. Toss Mintz in wherever. That’s space, that’s modern basketball.

Rack this. In fact, I'd wager that his O-reb effecitveness rate went down after Cal started posting him ball-side exclusively. You couldn't block him out if he was crashing the boards from the FT line or elbow.

I watched a little bit of every single game played yesterday. It will surprise nobody that just about every team predominantly ran their offense either 5 out, or 4-out / 1-in with a big on the weak side.

Yes.

Toppin also should've been playing the 5 instead of Ware when Oscar needed a rest for the same exact reasons.

Listened to ksr today on podcast… nothing that matt said was wrong. In fact, you could argue he held back a little. Also, if he wants to ship some of the extra wings he’s gonna have to store down here to siesta key, we will gladly take a box.

today is worse than yesterday, and tomorrow will be worse than today... it will be like this for the foreseeable future
It’s like being help against your will and you eventually accept your fate. That’s where I am now and I don’t like it.
The best thing Cal can do at this point is make a statement that what happened at the end of this season is unacceptable. State a plan to get us out of the gutter and actually do what he says.
A good start would be running a modern offense without two bigs clogging up the middle. Would also suggest STFU on the sideline and stop yelling Goooooo!

- I bet Cal is halfway to a family vacation already. He even mentioned on the selection show “maybe we’ll play good maybe we won’t, we’ll see”.

LMAO

- I’m already over it, can’t control it, can’t change it, won’t waste energy dwelling.

- Do we have any bigs for next year? Maybe we’ll finally go small, maybe we won’t, we’ll see.

- Remember when Tubby used to say every year “we’ll try to be more uptempo” and then sat on the ball as much as possible? I get the same feeling about “hopefully we’ll shoot it more” or “we could go small, we’ll see”.

- Our 9M coach had no answers. I do, multiple turnovers and missed FTs. That F’s you every time down the stretch. Pretty simple really. Now whether we should have been that close in the first place, well I’m sure Cal would say they are playing some of the best ball in the country like Vandy was too!

- The only player I don’t want back is Savir Wheeler.

The modern offense thing isn’t the problem. We scored a lot of points this year. You can win with Cal’s “style” if there is actual coherent in-game decision making. He needs to hire someone smart and trust them during games. Manage substitutions, draw up a play here and there, call timeouts appropriately, make an adjustment to slow down what your opponent is doing well. That stuff isn’t rocket science. I would argue that he’s actually great at the more difficult parts of his job.

This is completely neglecting the fact that after Tyty and Sahvir got hurt we turned into "THROW IT TO OSCAR" and effed our guards in the head during the process. Yes, Grady had a few games but our offense was humming against UT and then, next thing you know, we're in the 60's every game. Sure, I blame some of it on how the SEC plays against us, but we flat out changed our offensive style overnight.

Oscar was our best option but not our only option (especially offensively) and Cal only sees Red when he has a semi-decent big in the game.

The offense in March was no where close to the offense in January. Right before under 4 TO we got a rebound and Cal slowed Wheeler down. In January that didn’t happen.
