Same people that claim some UK fans are Cal fans are the ones that quote every word he says as gospel.

Cal is 11-3 vs UL and sent them packing in 2 tournies. His winning percentage is 10 pts higher than our overall win percentage vs UL.

Calipari has already watered down the UT rivalry with this bs. He’s about to do it with Louisville now.

Hope to get that second ring but will be glad it’s over when it is. I like Cal he’s right for us right now I guess because he so close to being our sort of modern answer to Williams and UNC, but man will I breathe a sigh of relief when it’s normal again.

Btw I don’t think Louisville is a rival in my world. I really don’t consider them. I think they want it more than we do. But to fans in the state, which have made this abundantly clear, they want to hold them down. I get it.

I hear you with #2 it is like we are cursed honestly. The whole Cal stuff...it isn't you, I get attacked as being a Cal guy all the time when the reality is I am a UK guy and look forward but with reality, not flash in the pan. Cal is better than 99.5% of what is out there, flaws and all...that is reality. I never want to settle again.

In the grand scheme, the Louisville game is probably only super important to the fans. It’s not as important to me as it used to be because the rivalry has been lopsided for a decade now.

The rivalry is always just for the fans. The players didn’t even grow up in the state so they don’t give a crap.

These are horrible takes. Do UNC and duke players also not care? Just bc we’ve owned them doesn’t mean it’s not a rivalry game. I swear some of you all are diluted. Osu has owned Michigan in football but it’s still the top rivalry game in all of CFB and Cal is loved bc he owns UL. But if we own UL and “Who cares” then why does he get brownie points for it? It’s bc you care lol

I definitely care. It's the #1 win of the season for me and most fans. I just don't think the players that are here for a year have cared lately because it's an early season game and Louisville isn't a very good program.

I think fanbase vs fanbase UK and UL is the #1 rivalry in basketball, but the media coverage of Duke/UNC definitely makes the players on those teams and the general population care a lot more about their rivalry.

I am not the delusional (or diluted ) one. Players always want to win but if you think a basketball rivalry is seen the same as the fans, you are mistaken. A kid from LA who has been on campus for a few months does not view Louisville the same as a fan who has lived in the state and interacts with the opposing team’s fans their whole life.

Also, college basketball and football are completely different. One game means everything in the scope of a season in football compared to a 30+ game basketball season where 68 teams make a tournament. Not to mention, players staying 3-4 years in football compared to a one in done system of basketball.

What I think always drove Cal to crush Louisville is he wanted to be the number 1 guy in the state over Pitino. Those two are cut from the same cloth. They are the same egomaniacs.
I hope the desire to remain number 1 exists, buddy or not. UT has flat owned us the last few years and you don’t hear much about Cal’s record against UT before Barnes arrival. For all the people saying we own UL. It’s a what have you done for me lately world folks. A couple wins by UL and you’ll remember why you hate this team

Why keep score? Why not cancel this game too? Good god I'm tired of the "let's all be friends" nonsense. Rivalries are what make sports. Hatred between opponents is a great thing. Competition is great for both sports and self growth. Kenny Payne is a great person. Did a fantastic job at Kentucky. That being said, nothing wrong with hating him/his team for 40 mins during a game each season. He/they should and will feel the same.

Cal would be smart to avoid bringing up Rick Barnes and how "great of friends" they are right now. Not what Kentucky fans who have competitive aspirations want to hear.
