Im fine with being friends but downplaying the UK UL rivalry is just a bad look. It’s the top circled game every year and it’s how Cal has won favor with UK fans by owning them. Anyways Kenny Payne doesn’t matter rn just the team we put on the floor JMO

Seems like a legitimate answer.

In the grand scheme, the Louisville game is probably only super important to the fans. It’s not as important to me as it used to be because the rivalry has been lopsided for a decade now.

Yea that is Cal's problem he still does not understand UK tradition and its Fans. He does understand mediocrity though.

What's the matter with you all? Are some of you born to hate? This old 'let's all hate Louisville' kick gets older and more irritating by the day. UL is not a rival to us. They do not threaten us in any way. Duke and Kansas, and lately Gonzaga, are our rivals. UL is just a fellow in state school like WKU, EKU, Morehead, etc.
Get all this damn hate out of your head and get behind our team. They do not need your hate spewing around! They just need our full support.

Same guy that had a very close relationship with Coach Hall and has brought numerous players both past and his guys back to the program. Same guy that led fundraising efforts for Tornado victims in our state.

Yeah, Cal doesn't care about UK tradition or us fans.

Some of you all need to get a grip.

Cal could say that he loves the entire fanbase or something to that effect and someone would have an issue with it I feel lol.

It's like a relationship that's gone sour. And then every little thing that person does ends up bothering you......even tho looking at it in isolation is no big deal really lol.

If people are really upset about this quote you're absolutely inventing reasons to become upset. Cal and Payne are good friends. Nothing wrong with this quote at all. He's not going to pretend to start hating someone because they coach at a rival now.

Of all the things of which to feign outrage, this one is pretty silly. He said they will still be friends, which, of course. Then he said it’s one game a year, which, it is. He will kick his friends *** once a year and they will go back to being friends.

How are people complaining about this? It’s our rival but it is one game a year literally half our fans say this same thing every time we play them. You wanna beat their *** (and we have dominated them—esp with Cal) but it doesn’t define our season and isn’t nearly as important as SEC Reg season & tourney.

You are correct. Heck, Payne played for the university, so why wouldn't he take the job if it was offered to him? As for Cal, other than he works for UK at the moment, I doubt that his loyalties go much beyond employee to employer.

LOL Cal just dumped on the haters again. I love when he does that. Exactly what they deserve.

U6 was a big game, till they crashed and burned. Now its just one game a year. That's not on Cal. THat's on Vamptino and the crap U6 program. Anyone that thinks most of these coaches aren't friend are just dumb.

just wait it’ll get worse. And the excuses will mount. You will begin to have a small segment of passive fans that have mirrored his attitude go along with it and say it’s a meaningless out of conference game. At least with Cal and Pitino they couldn’t stand each other. This is going to be gross.
