-Feel like this is basic common sense BUT don't get busted with drugs in foreign countries. Especially one that is currently invading other countries, threatening nuclear actions, hates America.
Work procrastination randoms:

~ My immediate inclination is to believe the complete opposite of anything the Russian government says. Seems far more likely that Russia trumped up this crime to detain a "high profile" American for leverage (Olympic athlete, female, AA, LGBTQ, i.e., right up this Administration's alley). Even if Griner is the dumbest human on the planet, I would still find it hard to believe she's that stupid.

~ Breck is a tight ski town, behind Steamboat and Telluride. Breck as a mountain f*cking blows. Always windy (locals call it "Breckenwind"), long lift lines, and ridiculously short runs. Copper is on the other side of the mountain from Breck, 1 more stop down I70, and wayyyy better. If you can ski ungroomed blacks, Vail is the undisputed champion.

~ Going out on a ledge and predicting some upsets in the SEC-T. I think Auburn and Tennessee are most vulnerable away from home. Offensively, they scored 9ppg and 3ppg less on the road, respectively And defensively, they gave up 7ppg and 6ppg more. A delta of -16 and -9 away from home isn't a recipe for success.

~ Average NET, KenPom, and Sagarin rankings as of 3/7:
  1. Gonzaga (1.00)
  2. Arizona (2.00)
  3. Baylor (3.33)
  4. Kentucky (3.67)
  5. Kansas (7.00)
  6. Duke (7.33)
  7. Auburn (8.67)
  8. Villanova (8.67)
  9. UCLA (10.00)
  10. Tennessee (10.67)
~ Clear consensus in the computer models showing separation for the top 4 teams in the country. Yet, we're going to land a 2-seed in Philly with Nova as our 3. Lock it.

~ How TF is the Big East projected to get 7 teams into the field, one than the SEC and the Big 12. Creighton is behind Florida, Ok. St., Miss. St., Texas A&M and Iowa St. in most computer models. 5 teams from the ACC is also a joke...

Sorry the common men and women of the ski resort town weren't nicer to you guys, Anth
Meh, they were fine. It was just 2 weekends in a row dealing with people that like to be heard talking. Very glad to be back home, that's for sure.

-I like the Breck slopes but I'm a blue guy. I'd go black diamond when I was younger, dumb, and a far better skier. I'll happily cruise around these days when I make it once a decade. Haven't been around enough to really critique, but like I did as a kid, I'd find some good long middle of the mountain trails that weren't busy, and explore those. 1st lift was a brutal long line, but other than getting PTI out of another long line, I managed pretty well with that epic app. The town is a really nice benefit to the wife who doesn't ski, though.

-I thought Denver's Airport was nice other than the awful rental car BS. Detroit is criminally nice compared to the **** hole town.

-I just love LEX airport though. Show up 45 minutes preflight and you're still early. Land and in the car in <10 minutes with a checked bag.

  • I am a little surprised how no one seems to really give af about Griner. I’m not sure she’s that likable even in the WNBA crowd. Like if that was Taurasi or Parker or something you’d hear more about it.
  • I also wasn’t a fan of Breck skiing for the reasons listed above. But it is a fun town. Give me Vail all day, but there are also times when that place is just packed to the gills. I was very pleased with Snowmass last year. Seemed like it was kind of an easier to get around Beaver Creek.
  • China started a virus (then lied about it) that killed 6M people, and we were immediately told not to say anything remotely bad re: China. Russians in America and Europe are losing their jobs if they don’t renounce Russia and Putin. I’m not saying the latter is always wrong, but shouldn’t we have been harsher on the former?
  • @anthonys735 - if you think the CO ski people are bad, go to Park City. That entire town is full of pricks.

Tool concert was lit af Friday night. First time seeing them. That Danny Carey can play some drums.

-yep, saw them years (18ish)ago in Cincinnati ...saw them w/ @drxman1 at the beginning of this tour. Couldn't justify another $300+ to see them again.

-flaming lips next month in cincy. Should be wild.

-air b and b for forecastle...dropping the girls off at the festival Fri and sat w/ a big group, chilling with mama all day.

^I love music...but I ain't doing a festival. 3-4 hours is my limit on crowds. Otherwise I get cranky.

-steely dan in June.

-we've made a concerted effort to get out and do more shows. Minus whale.

You don't think Brittany Griner is dumb enough to take a pen to Russia? False.
Let's put it this way. If Griner took a vape pen with hash/cannabis oil on a flight from the US to Russia in February with a Dep't of State warning (i) not travel to Russia at all, and (ii) that if you do travel, to expect harrassment by customs officials....then she deserves to be sent to the Gulag.

Since Russia has an unblemished record of above-board criminal prosecutions of US citizens, I'm not buying that this is legitimate...

Would be an odd plant to detain her if that was their angle but it's obviously possible they set her up. It's f*cking Russia. Seems like they would want Americans coming over to be paid more to play basketball because now that's f*cking over.

This guy is obviously dumb for being the lone vote against it but since when does Kentucky legislature have any influence in international visa restrictions?

Well he also is pushing almost a purely consumption-based model for tax (no income tax) in our state which is a beautiful thing. So take the good with the bad.

Speaking of Griner...

[Blind Gossip] Remember when all of those athletes were protesting during the playing of the National Anthem?
[...]
We’re going to tell you about one particular professional athlete who was part of those protests. This athlete didn’t just stay in the locker room. Athlete gave interviews about how wrong and offensive it was to wave the flag or sing the National Anthem because America is an oppressor and Athlete is one of their victims because they didn’t really feel free. Because of that, Athlete finds displays of patriotism – like flags and songs – incredibly distasteful.
Good thing Athlete doesn’t know these people.
Anyway, Athlete traveled overseas to countries where they could feel more free and earn more money than in the United States. Given the chaos around the world with Covid and the horrible situation in Ukraine, you might find it hard to believe that anyone would go overseas at this time, but Athlete did.
Unfortunately, the trip did not go smoothly. Athlete broke the laws of a foreign country… and is in jail!
You know who our Athlete now wants to bail them out of jail? That horrible freedom-suppressing country, the United States of America!
Oh, the irony!
Strangely, the media is staying very quiet about Athlete’s past protests about America…
