Need another option in that poll….

I’m not 12 years old, so a sports team is no longer the biggest interest in my life. Sporting events are a side interest that I happen to enjoy. I celebrate every win for about 2 minutes, then I move on with my life. I’m bummed after every loss for about 2 minutes, then I move on with my life.
Absolutely. I love sports, especially UK sports. I love watching/following sports, but win or lose, it doesn't dictate my mood or quality of life.

My passion is the University of Kentucky basket ball program. I've become disillusioned over the past few years because I don't think the leadership of the UK program is truly focused primarily on winning college basketball. It makes it hard to be all in as a fan when many of the players and the coach do not seem to have that same focus.

I don't need for UK to compete for titles and Final Fours every year. I need to BELIEVE that is the first and foremost goal of the program, though, and it shows in the actions and leadership of the program. And I just don't believe that it is anymore.

When the players have one foot out the door, have mystery injuries that keep them out much longer than it seems they should and when the coach can't even be bothered to formulate game plans for opponents, make adjustments in game, play the players that are going to give the team the best chance to win, etc. then it's hard for me to get as emotionally invested as I used to.

I used to get worked up during games, get mad when we didn’t play well. Pumped up when we won big games. Losing just put me in a foul mood for a day. Then the 2015 FF loss happened. Never been more down. My wife was pissed I was pissed and not in a great mood for Easter. (Her while family is UL fans)

Then the Cubs won the World Series in ‘16. UK sports only takes a backseat to my love of the Cubs so I rode that high for a full year. Loved the ‘16-‘17 UK season. I wasn’t as nuts but still pretty engaged. But as the regular season losses started to pile up in 18 and 19, I started getting less worked up. Maybe I’m just older, maybe it’s the 2015 Wisconsin game, maybe it’s a little bit of both but I just sit and watch the games now. If they lose, I just shrug my shoulders. If they win, great.

The constant rotation of players including more players who are just here for the NBA. I like this team, they have a shot. I’m pretty much done with Cal. His act have made grown thin on me but my fandom isn’t what it used to be

Select the one that most aligns with your fandom.

I used to care deeply, I would break furniture after a UK loss. In the past, I would stand and pace while watching the games. After 2015 Wisconsin something changed in me. I stopped caring as much. That game is not the only factor, but is one of many.

One and done - players first - UK fan base mentality of who cares about winningest team. It’s just a number. It fluctuates and we might get it back one day. None and done is acceptable if it happens. It’s a regular season game, it’s not that important. We’ll get them in the SEC tournament. I expected a loss today. We’re a football school now. Basketball doesn’t start till UK’s last football game and then I’ll pay attention.

This season, I have really started caring again. I really like the players on this team and I see great potential for them. Also, I can tell I care because all the things I mentioned above are really irking me right now. For me, I can tell I’m caring about this team because everything is ticking me off. I am a very sore loser when I care. When I’m nonchalant, I’m not near as negative. I want UK to win it all. I don’t want to lose the all time wins. I don’t want to hear excuses about injuries. Instead, I want us to find ways to overcome obstacles and get the win. In 2015 we were going for undefeated 40-0 to make history. I want that level of excitement and passion back regardless if it’s rational or not. Also, no matter the talent, UK will never achieve true greatness again unless they develop that same passion. When Oscar talked about “die to win”. That is what gets me believing again.

I also get they’re not robots. The players do have limitations and injuries do effect games. My dilemma is rational thoughts don’t win out when I’m in die hard mode. Right now I’m at a crossroads with my fandom. Do I care so deeply, I let it destroy my psyche when we lose? If the challenge is harder, I expect the win even more. I know it’s not sane, but it’s where I’m at. Not sure if anyone else can relate or if I’m as crazy as I sound.
Please don't care. I don't want to see you break all your furniture.

#2 and #6 for me. I am a realist and the fact is #2 can impact regular season and tournament games, so that was my vote. For injuries see LSU and Auburn. For refs see '17 UNC and '15 Wisconsin.

Losing games like WVU in '10 are the ones that sting the most to me. That and games where we literally lose because we miss FT's...has cost us two titles.

I can excuse an injury or a game where we just get screwed by a ref.

I want to compete for a FF and ntl title annually but stuff happens...that is just the reality of the sport and I've had the same train of thought for 30 years.

I care a lot if we win or lose but it’s not going to dictate how I feel the rest of the day. I have a family and other things going on outside of my love for UK basketball. If they lose a game, I’ll get mad for a bit then look forward to the next game so I can watch my team play again.

I feel so sorry for you because Cal is going nowhere.
Just like the Program is going nowhere. Why would he leave? He's got it made here with fawning fools like you to cheer him on while the Program continues its slide away from respectability and relevance. Don't forget...it's all about the kids and that's where it starts and ends. It's not about the Program or Tradition, its not about Titles, not about the Fans, and not about the University. It's about the "kids". Enjoy the **** show and oh, BTW no one is looking for your sympathies, certainly not me.

Biased poll. I want the cats to win every game. However I have coping skills and don’t squeal like a pig and howl like a rabid dog when they lose. So I want to win but don’t rip the guts out of my program, players and coach because I’m not man enough to handle a loss.

Program is looking pretty good to me if we could stay healthy. This would be difficult to see by anyone unable to comprehend coach speak. They would draw dumbass conclusions like the leadership doesn’t put the program first.
