Maybe a little, but not much. Wheller only played 3 mins, Oscar plays 10 mins in the 1st, then TyTy goes out with cramps. If we were healthy we win by double digits. Biggest disappointment is the FT shooting . can't win on the road short brix at the line

And we about did. I’d love to see any other tema win tonight without their starting PG.
I get it. A better coached team would have been able to execute w/o a point guard. Cal gives the guys lots of freedom in the offense. Might be good when you have an all conference PG on the floor. But our team is super dependent on Wheeler to make something happen for them. We don't have him there isn't a fall back option.

I agree. FT killed us tonight.
But this team played hard, and to be in the game without Wheeler, half the game with Oscar in foul trouble and Washington out late in the game, Is amazing.
I wasn't going to post anything, but after following others post negative things on cof Blues, I decided it was time for a positive,
sane post. Thanks wildcatglenn.
To all the outrageous unrealistic negative posters, just go find another team to root for.
No, we did not play our best, but we were shorthanded, on the road against a good top
25 team. Be realistic, we are a good team.
Go Big Blue.

If this...if that.....they lost and fans are ok with it....new standard at UK I reckon

This team can't win with Washington playing point. Mintz would have been better off playing point so that Washington could have spotted up for the 3 and maybe he wouldn't have cramped out.
Maybe, but Mintz had the ball stolen from him multiple times. Mintz tried to make it close late, then made a huge turnover to give up a dunk. Then the Oscar, Mintz, Grady fiasco gave up another dunk.

This loss sucks but we still had chances we just didnt reach out and take it.The scoring drought in the second half hurt us..the missed free throws hurt us...being without Wheeler and Ty hurt us...learn from it and get ready for the next game.
Now when LSU comes to Rupp later I hope we beat the living hell out of them.Stomp a mudhole in their *** and walk it dry...then I'll be satisfied.

i think we had 50 with 13 minutes left. and 55 with under 2 minutes left. that’s annoying.
Very. That team is really average. We lost to an average team tonight. Couldn’t hit a free throw, stupid turnovers and I gotta question Wheelers toughness. You take a hit, gather yourself, get your *** back on the court. Don’t sit in the locker room like a wimp. Hell TyTy played limping, that’s heart. Disgusted just like I was against Notre Dame. This team **** it’s pants against another average team. Should be 12-1 ranked in top 5. I shudder to think what’s gonna happen when we go to Lawrence Kansas in a couple of weeks.

Good teams don't have to be frontrunners. They find a way to win despite adversity.

Do they? I'm trying to think of what team in college basketball, recently, won despite a rash of injuries. I mean.. Robbie Hummels injury completely derailed Purdue. Desean Butlers injury basically handed Duke the win. UNC fans tell us we only won because Kendall Marshall went down.. elsewhere, the Bucs are struggling without Godwin and Antonio Brown. Chicago Bulls went no where when Rose tore his acl 10 years ago.

Injuries happen, and they can completely change a team. I hate it. But it's obvious to me that losing Ty completely changed the game. Glaringly obvious, actually. What can you do?

Im not mad either. Frustrated. Had them down 9. Then TyTy can't continue the game at some point. Mintz made a couple shots, but we had some bad turnovers. Just frustrating.

Just expect the coach to somehow make it work with Mintz on the point for 10mins. What's the point of all the "experience" on the team if we can't close out a game in a tough spot? We're all frustrated. I thought we'd win this one and probably lose to Auburn and UT. Plus our usual stinker to some crappy team. We could have four conference losses easy before this month is over.

Mintz was our best ball handler last year and he would be better this season if he was prepared in practice. Surely no one considers what Washington did tonight college caliber point guard play.

We're not beating good teams when we lose 2 of our 3/4 best players. It sucks, but it's not a big deal or a reflection of what this team can do. To everyone ready to jump off a ledge, go ahead and jump.

I think we over estimate the 2 through 5 positions on their ability to play the point. Could they make it work in back yard basketball of CYO? Sure. But its not gonna work against top20 LSU with a team full of the nation's best basketball players.

Tbh... I love how well we responded and held in there. What was it.. like a 12 to 2 run to open the half. It sucks we walked away with a loss.. but the first 3 quarters tell me we more than held our own against a team considered to be one of the best in d1. So I have the loss, but I also became more convinced that this team is pretty damn good.

Oscar **** the bed tonight big time...
My biggest worry with Oscar is how bad he is with the ball. Obviously that reared it’s head at the end but separate from that, he just has no feel for the game if he isn’t going to the rim. I think the double teams in the paint are going to continue because he’s a really ineffective passer imo.

NO it's all good, provided we get TyTy back and Wheeler back healthy, it's ok. We will spank that LSU team by 20 later this year.

To have even had a shot with that lineup on the floor was nothing short of amazing to me. If we would've beaten them and the 3 officials, it would've been one of the greatest games to beat the ******** I would've ever seen!

Huh? What did you think he should have done differently? He didn't have a great line.. UT it was still 5/6/4, while he had to tale over Wheelers spot.

Sometimes it's just playing poised. And Ty was, hence why we were up by almost 10 before he got injured. His +- has to be pretty good this game.
