Hard to believe anyone is defending the scheduling this year. It is bad for the fans, bad for team and player development, and bad for future seeding purposes.
Its not hard, don't schedule a long stretch of terrrrrrrible teams. There is an abundance of 50-180 programs to have selected.
But whatever, thats been said and done and if someone fails to see how trash of a decision it was, well they are a clown.
But at the VERY least, even if scheduling us against 6 teams we shouldn't be playing, for the love of God don't schedule them all in a row.
Give the fans something to look forward to. Give us a game or two in the cupcake stretch that will challenge our players to toughen up, progress in skills and as a team, for Cal to see things that may not be working with our guys vs tougher teams, and then use the insight gained from some tougher games to sharpen up vs the cupcakes.
Cupcake stretch without those growth opportunities means that our guys and our coaches are going to be thrown from like a video game on EasyMode jumping straight to Hardcore with how tough the SEC and our other OOC games are this year. Just stupid and a waste.
And brutal as a fan that also likes to follow all of college basketball, and reading about other teams and watching them and then everything regarding Kentucky is "TyTy playing well after the Duke game, got a good guard, and Oscar seems cool. But no real idea because they have been playing Highschool teams since the opener. The End".
Most excited I've been about our team in a few years, and it's been frustrating waiting out this stretch, especially knowing it wasted some good development time.
