The kid is a streaky spot shooter at this point. Completely lost with defensive concepts and borderline an offensive liability too. I watched teammates push him to an open spot on several occasions as he was trying to bunch up the floor on a possession.

Yup, we love Allen but he really doesn’t provide much but shooting at this point. Of course he was 0-5 tonight from 3. Didn’t seize the opportunity he was given. He will get minutes but it’s pretty clear why he won’t be getting 20 MPG

Not knocking Allen at all.I want him to contribute but he has to want it..has to prove not only to the staff but to himself that he can be more than what we see currently.

Amazing we have a guy in Brooks who consistently produces, and he gets trashed no matter what, then we have Allen who is the streakiest player who is one dimensional who the same people Clamor for game after game.
This. With a poster in another thread calling him blmbrooks and getting several likes, it's pretty easy to see why there's a double standard around here.

Well, even if that were the case, he’s at best the fifth best perimeter player on the team. How much time should that guy really get?
^100% this ... it is obvious to everyone that is objective ... and that is not a knock on Allen, it's just reality.

I just want it to be about the play on the court. He has deficiencies as do most college guys who stay 3-4 years. That’s why they aren’t pros. He does play well and is a high caliber player for a good team. Maybe he shouldn’t be so featured but I can’t blame him because he’s been here the longest and has earned his time. We want talent and guys who aren’t ready to go to come back. Well he did and he gets way to much criticism. If he only turned the ball over or played horrible defense the. I could understand it, but he makes up for it in other areas of the game. I love Allen and want him to get better as well. At the moment he is one of the last forward/guards who should play a ton when he doesn’t make shots because he isn’t as well rounded. I hope he continues to work and comes back improved for a great Junior/senior run. He can still contribute this year by learning and hitting shots though.

I'm here, and stand by it. He ain't hitting tonight, but I still have no issues with him getting more pt.
I agree he has earned the playing time. The main thing tonight I noticed from him is that his defense has clearly improved. That will get him more playing time as much as anything else. He wasn't making shots tonight but he will make them most nights.

It was also great seeing Grady make plays and shots, and do more than just spot up. We need his offense also. We need these guys to make shots.

Agree. Our players are allowed to have their own opinions. Their play on the court is all I care about.

People complain about players leaving, but trash the ones that come back. Newsflash...the players that aren't good enough to jump to the NBA typically need more development. Brooks is way better than he was as a freshman, but yes he still has things to work on. He's fine.

Allen really needs to transfer to a place where he can get consistent minutes and shots. He’s a streak shooter that needs to be playing with confidence. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s at UK. And I’m not blaming Cal.

DA would probably thrive at a mid-level D1 school.

Allen should consistently play about 8-10mpg. If he is hitting he should play 12-15...if not, 4-8.

The problem you have isn't just his defense. He lacks the speed necessary to push in transition. I do like the length he provides defensively.

I'm a huge fan of his and believe he will contribute here if he sticks it out...which I think he will.
