- It was nice to have big-time college hoops in front of a packed house, to be sure, but it's also been nice to have those random weeknight games to either watch because there's nothing else on, or to have as background noise. Caught a little of Juan Dixon-coached Coppin State vs. perennial underachiever DePaul last night. Obviously Kenny Payne would have been the home run hire, but it was cool to see lifelong assistant coach grinder Tony Stubblefield get his first career win as an official(non-interim) head coach.
- Their program is a complete dumpster fire, but it's good to see UConn take a swing and hire Jim Mora Jr. as their new head coach. The guy went 46-30 at UCLA, so he's at least a reasonably-successful retread, which, at a place like UConn, is about as good as you're gonna get. He won't get 3/4/5-star guys out of HS, but I could see him mining the portal pretty strongly for guys from the northeast who don't work out elsewhere and wanna come home.
- Gonna be in Cleveland this weekend, a block away from where Chappelle is appearing at the Cavs' arena. If it was a straight-forward comedy show, I'd consider going. But it's a screening of his documentary, then appearances by he and some friends. Can't see dropping $$$$ for something like that.
- If there's one thing social media has taught us, it's that Americans will never truly grasp the difference between Veterans Day and Memorial Day. Just be thankful for all of them all the time, I guess.
- The Lee's Famous Recipe down the street was open for years and barely drew a crowd. It closes for a year or two, reopens as Lee's Chicken and Strips, and now there's a constant line of cars in the drive-thru, occasionally stretching to the street. Guess they added cocaine to the breading or something?
- I miss the days when cable news was more about heavily-followed courtroom drama rather than political garbage. I haven't followed it as closely as some of you have, but this Rittenhouse case seems to harken back to that era.
- Cincy Zoo Festival of Lights worth the drive and money or nah
