Typical liberal hypocrisy.-No one likes to make fun of sports writers AND then defend them out of the other side of his mouth like Ol' WCC. What a conflict for that guy. Wonder why he does that?

-Yeah, changed my tune after seeing how much the kiddos enjoyed their medals from Tee Ball. Very cool. At a young age, imo, participation trophies are perfectly fine. They were still hungry after seeing how much nicer the champions trophy was.
-Nothing about being an Olympian is a participation trophy. I didn't read the article, but if that's the take, it's ridiculous.
-Easy steak tacos. Skirt steak with simple taco seasoning, sauté chopped up onions and bell peppers in butter until brown, top however you'd like. I use sour cream, cheese, jalapenos, hot sauce and avocado. Always with rave reviews.

-That Obama Birthday Party looked like a rager. Good for them.
-Woke up with an unexplained bruise on my arm that is bad enough I should recall the incident. Had some cocktails but not enough to not remember this. Getting old is weird.
-Solo Stove and Camp Chef first runs were this weekend. Highly approve of both products. Was unsure about the pellet style grilling but basically having a convection oven with smoke is actually perfect for me as I've been using our oven more than BGE lately. The sear box add on was the right call. That sucker gets to 1000 in no time.
When I coached my son’s U6 team, if the kids were getting too bratty (on either side) by keeping score, I would quickly remind them how there was no score to be kept because they were constantly breaking the rules and all goals were invalidated by what was essentially their sub-par, poor play.I think some took the "we don't keep score, no reason to hurt anybody's feelings" and extended that sentiment to participation trophies.
There is nothing wrong with a participation trophy, like Anth said, it gets kids excited about the game and puts a smile on their face.
But, I did coach in a soccer league where they didn't keep score and even 5 year olds want to know who is winning and losing. I would just keep score in my head and tell them.
Not trying to rain on their parade - and Warren county and Little League are fine - but Louisville and Lexington (as well as most other parts of the state where baseball is big) play Cal Ripken.Once again MY Warren Co. South Little League team is out here representing KY. Not a team from Louisville or Lexington. Playing Illinois after beating Ohio 2-1 yesterday. Once again, Warren Co. is THE youth baseball Capital of KY. One thing that may be their undoing, hitting. They have solid pitching though.
Only 5, JRowland thinks that is just laziness.- Can not fathom having more than 2 kids. We saw a couple the other day in Lowe's who had 5 under the age of 10. Hard pass. I'm getting snip snipped very soon.

Would love to see how they stack up against the likes of South Lex/SE Lex/E-town Cal Ripken leagues. Will say travel ball has decimated the Louisville area Rec leagues. They were pitiful this year at the 9u level.
Went to a Rockies game two months ago and did not hear/see any overtly racist acts by any of those in attendance.
* There is nowhere in SWVA to get a smashburger, and it makes me sad. Got a Blackstone, but sometimes I'd just like to grab one right away.
Same here. I still remember my disgust when Lyndon Rec put me on a team called the God damned Cougars!I played tee ball at Lyndon circa 1977 and we got participation trophies but we also got our 6-year old asses yelled at and belittled like men when we didn't do something right so it was still a different time. I also remember the shame of being in a league where all the teams were the Blue Jays, the Pirates, White Sox ( no Reds because everybody wanted to be a Red then) and even the Senators but I was on a team called "The Green Machine". Who wants to be seen in a Green Machine jersey/t-shirt?
