It’s going to be hard to be this snarky about Texas when it turns out they’re really good this year, Gonzo. But I do see what you’re doing. It’s a valiant effort.

Beard + returning talent + the greatest transfer haul of all time. Only possible outcome is a national title.

"Decent haul" haha, good one. Im not in love with Beard but that "decent haul" included Marcus Carr, Timmy Allen, Dylan Disu, Tre Mitchell, and that Bishop guy from Creighton. 3 of those guys were first team all conference. And according to ESPN's rankings, they got 3 of the top 5 transfers in the country.
That’s awesome! All of those guys are decent college players and we will have to see if they mesh into something more.

Are those your beliefs, or are you trying to mock said beliefs that less than 1% on this board have?

I do think they’ll be a really good, Final Four level team. We’ll see.

They better. After choking in the title game and then having a top 5 talent like George locked up and losing him to an in state rival, anything less than a title is a failure. Beard needs to find his killer instinct again.

Or maybe he cares more about the NBA transfer draft than winning titles.

I'm more worried if our coach can recruit top talent again. We shall see.
Would you rather have top 5 talent or a National championship? Bc they typically don’t seem to align. I’m good with top 20 5 Stars and experience combined

I mean I see what you’re doing. It’s satire and it’s a valiant effort. Kudos to that. Personally, I don’t think Texas is the gold standard in college basketball.

I guess according to you we are on the same level as a basketball program as Texas then. Good to know you think so low of our program.

Right. Baylor is. If Beard wants to get there he can't keep losing in state talent that he had locked up.

You understand these games you’re playing would hit harder had we not gone 9-16 last season. Right?

Would they? Or is a stupid argument a stupid argument independent of what we do?

Because we tried playing results with these people for a decade while we won more games and went to more final fours and all that than anyone else.

It didnt matter. There's no logic. So all you can do is laugh at them.

If you dont believe that, then why should a coach who was Texas Tech, be held to the same standard as the one at UK?

For the same reason a coach with thirty years of success can be written off based on every individual occurrence that takes place, i suppose.

If you think that's silly, don't take it up with me. I'm just sharing what I've learned.

No one cares about the 30 years of success, all that matters is the success that has been done at UK in the past 10 years. The first 5 were historically great for us, no doubt about that. But you cant blame fans for coming after Cal when we haven't been to the final 4 since 2015, and we also just had a 9-16 season.

It would. Or at least I’d be more inclined to be on your side, here. Making fun of disgruntled fans of the “gold standard of college basketball” following the most disastrous season in the history of the program just falls a little flat. To me at least.

That’s the cool thing about being much more in the middle of these extremist arguments I see here. I change my opinions when new information comes in. Digging your heels in rarely ends with the intended result.

Right.

It's why I believe that Mark Few isn't good. Chris Beard isn't good. Coach K isn't good.

Roy Williams was so not good that he retired. We thought maybe Nate Oats was good but it turns out he's not good. Chris Holtzman is not good.

Mick Cronin has been not good for a decade then was almost good but is back to being not good. Jay Wright was good for a minute but changed back to not good. Sean Miller is definitely not good despite us hoping he would be good.

Scott Drew was very, very bad but now he's good.

It's all very complicated. I can send you the spreadsheet if you want.

Baylor really turned it on here to land George late. We are still in a great spot with a solid amount of top to elite players in this class. Now if we whif on on Sharpe, Lively, Smith Jr, and Miller…..then I’ll probably just stay off this board for a year haha. Cal and this fan base need a couple ELITE commitments that actually pan out more than ever! Some top 40-50 kids and another top 15-20 isn’t going to cut it anymore. It’s time to get the commitment train rolling…

Yikes. I guess if you cant understand fans being on edge over the greatest program of all time not being to the final 4 since 2015 and coming off our worst season in school history, I dont know what to tell you.

That doesn't sound like being open to new information to me. Don't be such an extremist.

This place mocked Drew for years. Sorta like Tony Bennett. Remember when he was bad and then THE WORST and then good and now he's bad again?

Like I said, it's all very complicated. You have to stay sharp.

Meh, I don’t “lecture” the fire Cal over everything crew. They’re silly, too.

Here’s what I do. I celebrate when things are awesome. When things suck, I say they suck. When things are just okay … well, I probably say they suck 🤷‍♂️

I never stop posting or talking about UK hoops though. Good or bad. I just say what it is.

You’re a smart guy and I respect that. Most of us were here to discuss how awful last season was while it was happening. You fell off the face of the earth and now you’re back to tell everyone how stupid they are again. That part I respect a little less (I know, somebody in your family got COVID).

Little more than that, but ok. I know this place doesn't believe covid is a valid excuse for having a bad year.

Barring the worst and busiest year of my life happening again I'll be right here whether we win 40 games or 0. Don't worry.

And I'm not telling everyone they're stupid. I'm showing their argument back to them. You'd hope they connect the dots. Maybe a smart guy like you could help them out instead of spending all your time making me a better poster.

Man, I wish I could be as cool as you! I’d say either your sisters or your Mom’s house. Maybe your wife, but I highly doubt you have a significant other.

Recruiting the best transfer class of all time is a pretty good start.
I agree, he does have a good transfer class coming in. Where do you go to actually see transfer class ratings? While Beard did get a good one, I have trouble believing it is better than ours.
