I agree with all of that, but now it all hangs on Oscar never getting in foul trouble during the tourney and hopefully not missing any games for an injury.

Cal better hope Oscar pplays like an AA this year.

I am with you. I would have rather had him, but clearly there is a reason they didn't take him. If O and Chin wanted him that bad they would have convinced Cal.

Also, who knows if the story is true. Kofi could have wanted to go back to Illinois and we just lost on him.

Nonetheless, we've done some good stuff this off-season. This is the team and we will see how '22 class shakes out. This is Cal's time and there are zero excuses. Team is veteran laden, talented, deep and he has his guy in O back plus two other hungry assistants.

You are missing the point. Cal literally has to have elite talent to win big, as in making FF. This years team has no elite talent. Unless Cal changes his coaching strategy, sweet 16 is best we can hope for.

Who doesn't need elite talent to win? I'll hang up and listen.

I wonder if there is someone out there still UK could get for depth in nothing else?

it is a massive hit to cal when he can afford any more hits. Duren goes to gleague ok. But losing duren to Memphis and if duren rakes in 7 figures for NIL cal will never land another top 3 guy. Barney isn’t gonna let these guys make big nil money
This has nothing to do with Mitch. This is all on Cal and his lack of recruiting ability.

I’m going to preface this by saying I’m confident in the players we have and that we will be in the running for a 2 seed or better next year, but….

1. Cal is a ******* moron for turning down Kofi Cockburn, I don’t give a **** if Oscar or Keon would have had hurt feelings, he’s a player of the year candidate and Cal flat out turned him down. Inexcusable. Oscar has never played a minute for this program, he’s only here now because he didn’t choose us the first time, he’s owed nothing, and Keon almost left us, he’s owed ******* nothing if an All American wants to come here and compete for his minutes. For this program to be what fans want it to be, there should be nothing given, everything earned, we shouldn’t be turning away all Americans because guys that chose us their 2nd decision or barely chose to stay here would be upset if we brought them in. And as a matter of ******* fact, guys that are uncomfortable with competition coming here are not ******* UK material to begin with. Hope Keon enjoys his senior season in Bloomington because he’s not getting drafted this season either if his mindset is still so feeble he can’t compete for minutes, it’s going to be a bad ending and him transferring regardless.

2. We’re 0/2 since changing coaching staff on top 5 players. The staff has to know better than to go all in on a player if there’s no chance they come here. This makes us look like a ******* joke.

3. Cal is going to be eating a mountain of **** next year when Keon is lost on defense and still can’t decide what he wants to be offensively next year, in contrast to Kofi having 20/10 every other night, I’ll have no sympathy for Cal, I think he should eat 2 mountains of **** for his decision.

Duren can stretch the floor. Oscar and Duren could have easily played together. Kofi and Oscar could not.
What can Duren do to stretch the floor that Kofi could not do?

Neither of them have an outside shot from what I have seen and both would require some double teaming of the post.

Cal used to he a step ahead of these guys....now he looks a couple steps behind.
He did a good job overall this offseason. But this was a recruit who could've signaled to entire CBB world he's on warpath and he's tweeting out "Love my team...." which he did last year when guys were telling him to go "engage" himself, had numerous dysfunctional elements from staff down to roster. It's not what anyone wanted to hear today.

I honestly didn’t think Duren was a make or break player, imo. I would have rather had Kofi personally. I think with the team assembled we’re 2nd round tourney team at best, jmo...

He doesn't have to play with his back to the basket. He is way more mobile and athletic...in the limited amount I've watch him he seems to have a pretty good shot 15 feet in.

Who are you laughing at?

We’re going to be on the 2 line and Illinois might not make the tournament last year.

Just because we’re disappointed in Calipari doesn’t mean that Illinois should even be mentioned in the same breath as Kentucky, unless that breath was used to say, “Kentucky took everything it wanted from Illinois and left their program in shambles.”

Being alright seems to please half the board now. What happened to Cal's gold standard take? Now he's worried about hurting players feelings when he takes them out of games.I wish we had the old Cal with a chip on his shoulder and a desire to do whatever it took to win.
When I say alright I mean like we have just as good of chance as winning it than anyone else. We got some players and a deep roster. I’m in the boat of if you don’t want to come here and compete go elsewhere. If you take a kid to Rupp and he does not want to come to UK he’s probably not smart enough to play here anyways. Penny’s quite the salesman, but what does he have to show for it. I like what Cals got to work with this season.

Really doesn't matter except to Penny and the Memphis fans. None of his highlights I have watched showed anything but dunks and shots in the paint. Also, recruiting gurus all say he is a work in progress on his outside shot and needs a lot of polish to his offense.

Sounds a lot like a smaller version of Kofi only with no real game experience.

He did look good dunking on those 6'4" centers in high school.

Cal allowed his "team leaders" to talk him out of taking Kofi. I will be glad when this "team leader" that has led us down the drain moves on to his next destination. He is killing Cal and this team in my opinion.

What was the average star rating of Baylor’s team last year? Average star rating of Gonzaga?
Yeah, on paper UK was way more talented based on recruiting rankings, look how that tuned out. I actually think Cal has put together a hell of a college roster, which is the goal afterall!

I like the roster and love the addition of TyTy Washington with them. Think he's going to be special. Key is to commit to playing how he's said they'll play. He does that, and think fans will be enjoying the team and super excited about the possibilities. Kellan Grady is a big time CBB player. Oscar Tshiebwe is going to be a factor and really comes down to what everyone has mentioned--the Keion/Toppin/Hopkins spot on roster. Love to think 1 of them could take a leap but if not at least collectively you get production from that spot.

I have no idea. I know Baylor had a lottery pick and another guy drafted. I know Gonzaga had two of the Top 15 NBA picks.

Again, who doesn't need star power to win?

Don’t get all the angst over not taking Kofi. Great player, yes. But did you see Illinois and him get completely shut down last year in the tourney. He was totally ineffective.
