Yep, he will probably make it in the NFL. It's a shame his career ended the way

it did and it most likely costs us the Egg Bowl and the Orange Bowl last year. We were badly exposed at Safety once he was lost.

When we lost him, our defense suffered a little bit. When Market went down, too, we were in trouble.

A lot of negativity on 247, but I'm sure he gets drafted now

Based upon the posted results of the combine, Cox is showing out in all the drills except the 20-yard shuttle where he's like 10th, but he leads the 60-yd shuttle. Folks on 247 are saying he still doesn't get drafted, but I think he just assured that he does. The one thing that can't be taught is speed and size. He has the speed and size to be a tall corner or a light safety. Even with his off-the-field issues, I see him going 4th round. There is too much need for speed and right now he's the fastest safety and the 2nd fastest DB overall at the combine.

Good write-up. Just being at the combine means that you'll probably be drafted somewhere unless you have a glaring deficiency. The more events you end up as a top-performer, you move up the board.

With the lack of quality DB's, Cox is in the 2nd day discussion.

He only made one mistake....yes a big one....but the charges were dropped......the nfl has shown they have a short memory.

True and very selfish on his part. He

Let his team, family and university down in a big way. Mullen was right to suspend him as an example for others to see.

Yeah, and that's a tough decision to make. You're in a conference title hunt and CFB playoff birth, and we're talking about you're best player at your thinnest position.

Look at the **** sandwhich Bucky is willing to deal with at QB.

Yes. I'm speaking

to the fact that we are using a guy that's been in legal troubles a number of times to promote our program.

This is nothing like what Kiffin does. Kiffin just perpetuates a lie. Two completely seperate situations.

It struck me as odd and self serving but the times have changed.

People seem to get over just about anything now and move forward. It wasn't like that back in the dark ages.

Safety Job Descritpion = "prevent over the top passes for big gains",

"sound tackling to prevent long runs from scrimmage and YAC". I would our safety play costs us plenty in our last two games. We will have to disagree on this one.

I agree 100%. Without Cox or Market, we were vulnerable to deeper passes over the middle, our safeties weren't as aggressive against the run, and despite that fact, they missed tackles that led to big gains on the running game. It clearly wasn't the sole cause ... it coincided with getting way too conservative offensively ... but our defense suffered big time.

By your definition, our safety play sucked all year, we were just good enough to overcome it except for the last two games. Losing Cox would have hurt regardless, but it only killed us only because we also lost Market. For whatever reason, Cox (the above average NFL quality athlete) and Market (the barely SEC quality athlete) seemed to be about equally effective. Not sure it would have been enough, but I think we might could have survived the Egg Bowl if Market hadn't gone down.

So your saying using Greg hardy's pic on twitter is not the same. I think hardy may have been involved in a battery case

I didn't think

about Hardy being on Kiffin's profile, I guess, but hasn't it been up there since before he got in his recent trouble?

Frankly, I don't care what they do, I'm speaking to what MSU does. I just thought it was odd that we were pimping him, after the knowledge of his transgressions.

I agree w Coach66. Not having Cox may have cost us the Egg Bowl. OM was playing without their best two wide receivers (LaQuon Treadwell and Vince Sanders), so all we had to do was stop the TE, Evan Engram. He had over 200 yards receiving and to me, that was the story of the game.

Their ****** running back had 100 yards in the first half. Our defense simply didn't show up to play at all in that game. Really, the defense as a whole, not just the safeties, was mediocre at best the second half of the season.

Not having our safeties

certainly played a big part in dictating our tactics, but yeah we weren't stellar overall.
