If he wants to play at UK you take him with out questions. BUT he has offered a million dollars to play in the G league i just don't see him playing collage ball. Can he make that much in collage on the likeness ?
Fair points.I don’t know, seems to be a similar player to Oscar, who is actually bigger and more experienced and already practiced with the team the last 6 months. How good would Oscar look playing AAU ball against HS kids right now? I also think if we’re being serious about playing a more open, guard oriented offense like everyone wants adding another low post big makes no sense.
Kinda like a Ewing type?Similar situation to 2009-10.
Duren is a Cousins type (next level talent). Tshiebwe is a Patterson type (proven in college). Collins is like Orton (not physically, but just based on raw potential). Brooks is like Stevenson (proven upperclassman who hasn’t really reached his potential). Ware is like Harrellson (upperclassman with potential that hasn’t really played much).
What if Cal would have said, “We have Patterson, Orton, Stevenson, and Harrellson, we don’t have room for Cousins.”
You have to take Duren, just like we had to take Cousins.

Good point. Still, though, you MUST take Duren if he’s willing to come. He’s a game changer and immediate impact player from day 1 IMO.The difference is there hasn't been a change in head coaches. Cal brought all of these guys in.
Oscar came here with a certain understanding. Collins was recruited with a certain understanding. Ware and Brooks chose to stay with a certain understanding.
That's not to say any or all of them would be unhappy. But it isn't what they signed up for and I don't think it's understandable in the same way as when a new coach is hired.

Agreed on all points. I don’t think he comes here. I wouldn’t be shocked if he did, I just don’t see it. Probably goes to Miami or Memphis IMO.I agree. This team is missing that elite talent.
I think this is all ultimately moot anyway. But I do think it would cost us a guy currently on the roster.
Ehhh it’s more complicated than that man, it’s bad practice to bring someone in late and tell your junior that you convinced not to transfer that he will not be playing much this year.
Could create locker room issues, could become another weapon for Pearl to negative-recruit against us.
You take him if he wants to come, but you have to carve out minutes for the guy you just recruited over.
You don’t have to make guarantees to have sold a player on their role before wildly changing the circumstances on them months before the season.Does Cal guarantee minutes? Does Cal guarantee starting positions? Does Cal guarantee certain players he won't bring in a better player than them? Do players not have to earn their minutes anymore? This day and time, do no college teams just play their best seven no matter who they are? Is it just not possible to have at least 12 scholarship players every year with no deals or guarantees for any of them? Get the 12 or 13 best you can with NO deals or guarantees and go with it. Coach'em up the best you can and go with it. At least the seven or eight best will be on the floor most of the time getting better and better.
Clarke and Boston were supposed to be better than anyone on Kentucky's roster last year, and that center that went to Memphis was going to be a star. How did all tat turn out ? You never know how good someone is until he does it on the floor. Just because someone is supposed to be a super star, doesn't mean they will be. Duren may be better than anyone on Kentucky's roster, and there is just as good of a chance that he will not be.It doesn’t do us any favors because he’s not coming here.
If he came here it doesn’t matter who we have, Duren is better than everyone on our team. He’s got a man’s body and would be a top 5 pick if he could go straight to the NBA.
Clarke and Boston not panning out is an anecdotal experience. Clarke was hurt, and Boston’s play style just really didn’t click in a Calipari systemClarke and Boston were supposed to be better than anyone on Kentucky's roster last year, and that center that went to Memphis was going to be a star. Yes... that's a couple cars and a house for mama and back to brokeville.I'm sure it would be hard to turn down a million dollars for some of these athletes.
Yeah, Torres talked about it on his YouTube channel. Duren also mentioned the G league money was not a factor bc he didn't care for bling or material stuff. I think he’s looking at college as a better long term investment into his basketball career.Just looked it up, he will be 18 in November. That means he is eligible to be drafted next spring, if he reclassifies.
You can make more in the long run by going to college. How many times does anyone get to watch these g league guys? Everyone watches you in college and there are a million more kids wanting gear connected to college stars than this g league crap. It is all about exposure which college players have and g league does not. Exposure. That's the name of the game when it comes to making money in sports. Exposure man exposure. He can make more money with a big G League deal than UK with NIL. BUT, if you can make enough at UK plus living how UK players live compared to the G League...it's probably pretty damn attractive.
