I don’t think he’ll improve his stock much by returning. I also don’t think he’s NBA ready, so I figure he takes the Gleague or overseas route. But we’ll see.I don’t see it that way
That’s true but in his case we already know what that feedback is. He not getting drafted. That’s not going to changeSmart on his part. Every player should do this. It is free feedback from NBA personnel. If he doesn't hear what he wants to hear, hopefully he is smart enough to return and improve his draft stock for the following draft.
If that was the case, why not just go ahead and declare and then got overseas or G league if undrafted? G LEAGUE and overseas are already options for him if he wants them. Logically, it makes far more sense to do it the way he is if he plans to return.Yep, sounds like coming back to UK is plan C
Only if we are at War and we need extra troops will he be drafted this year.Am I crazy or is there a 0% chance he’s drafted?
Damn, guess party’s over?Where my chickin' littles at?

Lol. How many kids has Cal been honest with, especially these marginally talented players, when it comes to advising them about the NBA?
Cal will support his decision even if he knows the kid is making a bad decision for himself. Players first.
The list is pretty long of the players that Cal should have advised that they needed to come back for at least another year, and didn't even though Ray Charles could see they weren't ready for the NBA.
You can go ahead and pencil Mintz in on next years team. If you pay very close attention to the announcement and wording, it's plain as day his plan is to get feedback and return for next year with hopes of making an NBA roster in 2022 vs settling for overseas or the Gleague now. This is the way....just so tired of not knowing who will be on the team and who won't.
Thanks, but I will wait. This is what we get to do as fans of UK basketball nowadays, wait and see. Worst team at UK in a century and we're having to wait and see who's returning. What a time to be alive. You can go ahead and pencil Mintz in on next years team. Mintz made a decision that he believes in his best interest. Good for him. Now, Cal you BETTER make a decision that is best for our program and following. No waiting to see what happens with him. There have been some impressive experienced point guards in the portal whom we have seen go elsewhere or have not landed as of this moment. Go get Carr now.Just recruit like he's not coming back. Get 2-3 more guards.
Well that's obvious since he is a 5th year senior. I hope you are right on this but the one big reason that he is like the OAD.All the other kids were caught up in that OAD hype and grew up with ppl in their saying “go get paid”
Mintz is the opposite of this.
He's going to get evaluated (smart decision) to find out what he needs to work on next season that will increase his chances of playing pro.
That's only if you choose to. It's pretty clear to see what is actually happening if you just pay a little attention. Thanks, but I will wait. This is what we get to do as fans of UK basketball nowadays, wait and see. Worst team at UK in a century and we're having to wait and see who's returning. What a time to be alive.
Not really my point. This will drag out for a few weeks and just continue the uncertainty of the UK roster. That's only if you choose to. It's pretty clear to see what is actually happening if you just pay a little attention.
Do players usually hit their "ceiling" at age 22? If so, that is news to me.I don’t understand why this needed to be announced.. It’s like duh! We know you are going through the process... I feel like he’s at his ceiling.. Can Mintz get any better then he already is? I think ultimately he leaves and is a G Leaguer lifer or a Europe bound...
I think we all know how this is gonna go.
He won't get the feedback he wants, goes undrafted, but he wants to get paid,
so he goes overseas or to the G league.
This really plays no part in the uncertainty. UK knows Mintz will be back at this point. The uncertainties are around who will be coming to play the primary PG, and which of Jackson or Brooks will be back. Neither of those have anything to do with Mintz. Not really my point. This will drag out for a few weeks and just continue the uncertainty of the UK roster.
No UK does not know if he will he back. This really plays no part in the uncertainty. UK knows Mintz will be back at this point. The uncertainties are around who will be coming to play the primary PG, and which of Jackson or Brooks will be back. Neither of those have anything to do with Mintz.
I'm good w/ it, but why didn't he do this right away?
Have to agree. If he isn't good enough to be drafted another year of college BB won't raise his stock. But, a year as a foreign pro or a G league player might.I think we all know how this is gonna go.
He won't get the feedback he wants, goes undrafted, but he wants to get paid,

THIS!Anyone find it funny he announces this right after UK put out the UK hype video with him in it?What a giant mess this is.
That's your opinion. Fact is UK has to act as if he won't be back. Can't have anything set regarding him because of the uncertainty. It's becoming a tired act at UK.This really plays no part in the uncertainty. UK knows Mintz will be back at this point. The uncertainties are around who will be coming to play the primary PG, and which of Jackson or Brooks will be back. Neither of those have anything to do with Mintz.

School? What has he been doing for two months. Absolutely ridiculous
