Take or Pass?
Good to see you again coach!I see this as a knee-jerk reaction to not only the loss today, but also the season.
Ty Ty is a nice player, but with Nolan Hickman signed and a potential return from Davion Mintz, this is not the answer for next year.
We need at least two more players—whether it is a guard or wing— who can come in and knockdown shots and would be good for at least 10ppg.
Ideally, I believe we need three more transfers, assuming we also keep Davion and BJ. Of those three, one needs to be a true stretch-four who can step out and consistently hit shots behind the three-line. For this to happen, we would also need Devin and Cam’Ron to transfer—I don’t say this lightly, but I genuinely believe going elsewhere would be best for both of those young men.
Justin Powell is a nice option. I’m intrigued with the rumors over Scottie Pippen Jr. I’m sure more names will continue to circulate as the season ends.
Be patient over the next couple of months. With the one-time transfer rule being introduced for 2021-2022, our best option(s) is the transfer route.
I would assume Trevor Keels will not be an option—we’re too far behind in the recruitment. And there is not another high school recruit who can realistically come in and play at the level we need immediately.
But, without question, this will be the most-important offseason of John Calipari’s tenure here at Kentucky.
Not sure everything needs to be the answer for next year. I think adding a nice player to the roster is always a good move (especially if we always have open scholarships) even if his impact is not as big his first year. We need to start thinking not just about immediate impact, but what they might bring to the program down the line too. Not saying this kid is the answer, but we need those kids too.I see this as a knee-jerk reaction to not only the loss today, but also the season.

So after 9-16 next season is a bridge year?Sounds like great fun.I agree wholeheartedly; but, if done properly and with a little luck, we can be highly competitive once again next year. But, more than likely, it will be a “bridge year.”
But, we have Askew if he returns; Nolan Hickman is signed for 2021; Skye Clark is committed for 2022 and it appears for now he will not reclassify; the program is also in a great position for Jaden Bradley, who is the the #1 PG for 2022.
We have long-term players and are in good position to add others going forward—especially at point guard.
We have a lot of potential for next year; a good crop of freshman; returning experience and talent; the potential for a couple unexpected returnees; bring in two or three transfers that can make an impact immediately and we have a lot to look forward to.
Next season is critical year; we need to finish as well as we possibly can.

Welcome back! You as well, sir—It feels good to be back!
After such an abysmal season, I knew it was time to return and help boost the morale.

He does look like a good player, but if UK is going to add to the PG spot for next year I would much rather see a high level transfer or go with what they've got. Washington's movement and build reminds me some of Hagans, and he looks like the kind of guy you bring in to develop for the future. But, UK already has that in Hickman; and has freshmen backups for a sophomore Hickman already lined up for 2022. Besides, to my eye anyway, Hickman just looks more skilled and a better PG right now regardless of where they are ranked (and what are the rankings based on anyway? - potential future draft position based on size and athleticism rather than current skill set?).He is a really good player, has had a great last couple months and is going to get that 5th star soon. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him ranked above Hickman when the final rankings come out.
I mean i know it's high school but he makes passes here that no one on the current roster can make. He also has a decent looking shot and plays through contact. He is a bigger guard which Cal typically does well with. Who knows if he is the answer and who knows if he is interested. But UK needs guards...and he's a high level lead guard who can score.
