You can be players first and still do everything you can to win. Usually "players first", results in a lot of wins, that's different than what Fox is saying.

The way I read the context of the quote is if Cal has the players the wins will come.
Read the article. He didn't just direct that to Fox, he said it to the whole team.

Sounds like Fox believes what some fans believe in, that a roster full of NBA talent leads to winning games, it goes hand in hand. So the not caring about winning games isn’t true at all if you read the article.
He's not getting the players anymore. He’s getting projects. 5* kids that have no skills or BB IQ. Look at his win totals after 2015.

Look, it makes sense. Look at all the players that leave every year. He doesn't push them out, but he encourages them to jump. That's bad enough.

Then explain what Fox is saying. At the very least, it’s close and Hump didn’t return, so it’s very possible he said it.

Yes, he makes every player leave every year. Why wouldn't he want Anthony Davis or KAT, or Fox to return? I'm sure he loves rebuilding and having a brand new team. He forces them to leave though, I heard he has all of their stuff packed and sitting out on the curb when they get back to the Wildcat Lodge.
