-I never could properly cover any of my old school textbooks. Always had a girl from class just do it for me. Told my kids about this last night and they looked at me like I had lobsters crawling out of my ears. They do remember textbooks, but only barely.

-Professional sports franchises that I often forget exist:

NFL: Arizona Cardinals
NBA: Orlando Magic
MLB: Texas Rangers
NHL: All of them except the SEATTLE KRAKEN

-Strangely fascinated by photographs of empty and half-empty malls.

-Microwave popcorn kick, set off by the Boy Scouts' GOAT brand. Don't like the bagged stuff, and don't care for it at movies. But a good microwave bag, or a bag freshly-popped by some booster mom at a HS basketball game, hits the spot.

-One time 80 Proof recognized me at Qdoba by my burrito order.

-The oldest has her permit now. She's doing pretty well so far, and I'm keeping reasonably calm. I don't have a single recollection of my parents taking me out to practice driving, save for one time when my dad took me to a cemetery to teach me how to do a turnabout and I knocked over a stone. That was something.

-Never learned how to play checkers, chess, or any non-UNO card game. But backgammon, man....I'd smoke all you fools.

I joined chess.com and I'm learning to play. I mean everyone has dabbled with it, but learning the openings and defenses is pretty interesting, and it's good for the brain muscles.

Learning about Paul Morphy, who I had never heard of, and it's pretty fascinating.

Also, how the game has evolved, IOW, openings and strategies that were used 100 years ago that now are no longer employed, since the advent of chess engines, which have invalidated them.

-was assistant chess coach for Ashland elementary. Knew how to play...but not *play*. One particular 6th grade kid spectrum/math wiz beat me like a rented mule. Still enjoy playing. Looking to buy a nice set...but that Netflix show has availability down and prices through the roof.

-backgammon is fun. Been on a cribbage jag of late.

-this is a nice/fun modern game:

rudd - I really enjoy cribbage as well. But finding other people that actually know how, or are interested in learning, to play is pretty challenging.

I haven't watched the Netflix show, and I doubt I will.

-its a good show, clown.

-ive tried to get a nice couples card/game night together...but it always devolves into a chattering henfest. My BIL and I get to play backgammon/cribbage/hive at family gatherings, thats nice.

-canasta a few times with a group. That group(church folk) always wants to play cards against humanity...which is fun to play about 4 times...then its boring AF.

Cards Against Humanity/What Do You Meme are fun...once. Once you've seen all the good cards it really takes the funny out. Much like Apples to Apples, play one of those sort of games with a crew with much different sense of humor and you'll never want to play anything like that again.

I can't find anyone to play Rook with me that isn't related to me. Love that game.

I play a lot of No Stress Chess with the kiddos, so you could say I’m not sweating it either.

Our elementary school Chess club had a tournament and the top two players got to play each other in a life size game with the rest of the chess club members dressed up a pieces. Is that a standard chess club deal?

Playing Rook was a personality trait at my middle school and high school. People would break out a deck of Rook cards the second there was any free time.

I don’t know if it was in the book or house rules that spread but we played a version where 11-14 of trumps took the Rook.

My mom has been in a bridge club with a bunch of teachers since the late 70’s. One time a professional bridge player (cruise ship offering, apparently) played with them and was very confused. Apparently, they had developed their own game playing habits along the way. He called it bridge for the mentally lame.

They now refer to themselves as the “M.L. Society.”

~Chess rocks...play regularly on a couple of sites. Go watch youtube game clips of Magnus Carlsen, best player in the world.

~TD Terry was all class during his time at UK. Hopefully his exit interview was handled by the staff the same way when they gave him his pink slip.

~The no fans/limited fans has reached epic insanity when there is ZERO data to support it.

~Blitzed thru the weekend Las Vegas marathon. Loved that show back in the day and it was well ahead in the sexual innuendo for network TV shows. May trip booked, thank you.

~PGA Tour in Maui this week...that works.

~Homemade chicken pot pie.

Stay safe everyone.

I'm not surprised at all, that rudd likes old school card games. My parents were avid bridge players. They had an actual bridge club that played a couple of Saturday evenings a month. Very mid-century style social stuff.

84 year old mom still plays bridge with ladies her age. It's the only reason she keeps her club membership.
