Askew. It isn’t even close.

Boston and Clarke have their flaws but have still shown flashes. The issue with them is that we built them up to be John Wall impact from the get go.

Askew wasn’t even supposed to be anything more than a steady game manager that could shoot. And so far he looks like a scared freshman in high school playing against an experienced college team.

Hopefully he settle in and can be that game manager along with Mintz late in the season. I also hope he realizes he is a 3-4 year kid and stays around. He isn’t big enough or quick/explosive enough tk make up for it to be a 1-2 year guy.

My biggest disappointment is how soft he plays.

He has to regret switching from Wake. You come here for the exposure-when you play well the sky is the limit. When you play poorly.....stock will drop. He more than anyone is under the microscope.

First, Boston - he shoots bad shots in volume. Second, the “should still be in HS point guard”.

Biggest disappointments in order:
1. Mintz. He's 30% from the field and 30% from 3Pt.
2. Askew. He has played 114 minutes and has 8 assists. Let that stat sink in. He has 13 turnovers. 37% shooter from field and 3 pt. He's not a great on ball defender.
3. Boston. 40% from field, 17% from 3. He's OK...just not great (so far).
4. Clarke. He's got OK stats, but something is missing. His lack of hustle early on that play to start the game was incredible. He seems to be out for his own stats. Talented enough to turn things around.
5. Sarr. He needs more touches but needs to assert himself more. Demand the ball. Develop an alpha male attitude.
6. Allen. Quit playing scared.
7. Ware. Seems limited offensively.
8. Toppin. He's better than I thought he was.
8. Fletcher. He's a little better than I thought he was.
9. Jackson. He's a serious player. Beast on the boards and a rim protector. Huge upside.
10. Brooks. Incomplete.

First I want to say I know they are all new and should improve in a few months but to me Sarr has really not been what I expected. He's a senior so I thought he would be tougher and better on offense.
Brooks for me. We need him on the floor. He needs to heal up fast!

Didn't expect a ton from him going in but Askew looks like he should be playing at Sayre right now. Really hoping Cal commits to Mintz for the time being.

Sarr had been okay the first couple games, and we looked great when he was in against Kansas especially the first half, but him being in foul trouble killed us. And then he got eaten alive last game.

I think he'll have some great games, but right now it looks like he may struggle against physical bigs like Georgia Tech had in Wright, as well as against zone defenses.

I dont get the same vibe with Clarke. I mean he is shooting 50% from the floor, and only taking 11 shots per game, which isnt a bunch.

Boston on the other hand is taking almost 15 shots per game, and to me he is the biggest disappointment. I expected him to be more fluid than he has been, and it appears at times that he is pretty lazy. Mintz and Sarr are next on the list as I expected them to be a bit more steady than they have been. Mintz may handle the ball better than Askew but his decision making is suspect, and he isn't the answer at PG. As bad as I hate saying it, Askew is our only hope of having decent PG play. I think he can get there in the mold of knocking down open shots and cutting down on turnovers. He is not going to reach the level of a lot of our previous PGs, but he doesn't have to.

In my opinion, Cal is starting the lineup that is the only chance at having a decent run in March if he can make it there.

For me it's Sarr. You would have thought we won the lottery when he was deemed eligible. And all I've seen is a versatile big that's soft as Charmin. You would of thought that Moses guy from Tech was Kareem. Sarr should be embarrassed how badly he worked him. He made him his ***** all game long.

Boston has been a real big let down. But he's a freshman. Sarr is a veteran by ncaa standard. Not been impressed.

Hard to answer considering all have been with the exception of Jackson. But, I’d say Askew, Sarr, and Mintz in that order.

Why do we have to call out one single guy? Yes, coach, I hope the boys don't read this stuff.

I would definitely NOT blame Sarr. Hell, he can't even get the ball enough to be effective because we keep turning it over, or giving it to him in bad spots. We've also put him in bad spots defensively, so he fouls and is off the court, but that's largely the fault of others not guarding pick and rolls and staying in front of your man. Our passing and ball handling is horrible, so we don't need to ask this question until our young kids have had a chance to acclimate more to the speed of the college game. That's not going to happen four games into the schedule.

Our guard play by committee has been very disappointing up to this point but will get better. I do like what we saw from Clarke the other day. He and Brandon will get better in a hurry, and hopefully so will Mintz and Askew--they have to get better or it will be a long, dark winter in Lexington.

For me it's BJ Boston. That constant euro step right into traffic is infuriating. It reminds me of Julius Randle's spin move that would constantly get stripped.

Really dig into this post. Roster is ugly. We’ll need some guys to do an absolute 180, or this year could be shot.

It's a hard question to answer because you can pick apart everyone but Jackson at this point.

Our offense is a trainwreck so it's hard for anyone to excel off of each other.

I'd have to go with Askew. Very soft, timid and slow right now. I had a different vision on how he would play out of the gate. Hes playing like a 12 year old in a men's league right now.

Sarr, I'm more disappointed in the usage by the coaches. It's like having a pick-up truck but never putting anything in the bed of it. What's the use of having a pick up truck?

Allen looks like a baby horse out there. Thought his body was more mature and he was more physical.

I think this team can be good. Maybe not good enough to win 6 in a row, (because our shooting isnt good enough to play half court grind it out style) but the Coaching has got to improve first.

Sarr will be fine. He will have a good year.
I was quietly concerned for the kid when he got the hype of a savior on these boards.

If he was an NBA player he would be in the NBA. Someone has the score even on a ****** team. That’s what it was at Wake Forrest it seems. In all reality he’s probably playing about normal. I also expected more but in reality it is what it is.

I told y’all Sarr would have about the same numbers as Harrellson before the season started, then took back the claim. Now it’s looking I was right with my first prediction. He actually isn’t giving us anything close to what Jorts did. Jorts would destroy him if they played against one another. So Sarr by far is the biggest disappointment to me.

Anyone not named Jackson hasn’t been good.

Clarke looked like the light went on briefly against GaTech. Outside of that it’s been pretty awful.

I think it’s brooks. No explanation for why he isn’t playing and time frame keeps getting moved. He was our only true returning player. The cryptic crap with these guys and why they can’t play had grown old the bottom line though our only returner has given us zero zilch.

Askew...he should have stayed in high school. He's too slow to play point guard on big-time college teams.
