Not sure I'd use the state of Indiana as any kind of control in this analysis, MoC.

I mean he wasn't even winning anymore and they didn't want him to leave. Major protests iirc. And then there's Joe Paterno. The Big Ten should be the one institution disbanded if we're being honest, not the catholic church.

Been some GYERO MEN in the Vatican over the years. Bit of a hoot!

The Bad Popes is a 1969 book by E. R. Chamberlin documenting the lives of eight of the most controversial popes (papal years in parentheses):

Fired him basically within 20 months of being here and he was losing fans pretty damn early. The women's club was the first hit. Of course some people defended until the end, and he wasn't winning, but Billy was in over his head and the size of the job was the problem. Different situation and just a terrible hire.

The biggest shock after hating the State of Indiana and everything it stood for my entire life was discovering that practicing law there is pretty dope, actually. The Bar was a thousand times better to deal with than the Buckeye State. Taking a second bar sucked an entire load of syphilitic dicks but hey, taking it at the same time and in the same building as the NFL Combine was kinda neat.

No idea what to expect tomorrow. I still think we're good? Lots to clean up and lots for Mike Leach to exploit.

Visiting wife's family in North Dallas for the next week. Probably gonna pop in on a couple liquor stores to see what you can find on the shelf outside bourbon country. Any store recs from resident Texans appreciated.

F5:
Flying Burrito Brothers - Christine's Tune (AKA Devil in Disguise)
The Byrds - You're Still On My Mind
Everly Brothers - Cathy's Clown
Jerry Reed - Guitar Man
Wilco - Summerteeth

Given that I listen to the Dwight Yoakam and the Bakersfield Beat SirrusXM station pretty much all day while working, pretty sure I’ll have at least the first three.

-Went to top golf expecting it to be pretty neat but it was awesome. I know it's been said before but such a cool place.

-It always bugs me when analysts talk about fans preferring a certain style of play. Fans just want to win, simple as that IMO

The kinds of militia nutjobs your F’ing president encourages, you F’ing idiot.

No offense.

Well after a little further review, your knee jerk reaction to stereotype people is wrong again.

“Further, turns out in checking out the folks behind the alleged plot, one of the alleged members, Brandon Caserta, would appear to be an anarchist. Not only that, he's anti-Trump. Check the flag in the background.”

But congrats on being woke.

Dumbass.

Yeah, I'm sure he intended the Christian Churches to have Starbucks and frosted tip statutory predators preforming Rock concerts every Sunday morning.

-wrong tree...im Presbyterian*. Episcopal, Anglican, Lutheran...and some baptist/methodist types dont go in for that sort of thing.

*beautiful music..."high church" if you will.

-thinking about reviving the huguenot church...who's with me.

I mean, try to find a kid named “Adolf” born in the last 50 or so years but they sure haven’t retired these pope names just saying is all

All I know about Martin Luther is that he did a good job promoting his university. From Wikipedia: "In 1501, at age 17, he entered the University of Erfurt, which he later described as a beerhouse and whorehouse."

On the subject of American Murderer, was watching ID channel before work, An ID Murder Mystery : Susan Powell is somehow worse than that BS. Long story short, she vanishes and never found. Husband is accused. Her parents fight to get custody of the kids, but he gets visitation with social worker present. The reason being, they found child porn on grandads computer and he was a child molester. they also found cartoon porn with children on the dads computer. He was ordered to have a sexual / child porn problem evaluation so custody was placed with the mothers parents. When visitation day came the social worker brings the kids to his house. They go in, he locks the door leaving the worker outside and closes the door. He then stabs both of his sons in the head with a hatchet knocking them out and then pours 5 gallons of gas throughout the house and on the kids, burns the house down with himself and kids in it. The social worker is on the phone calling 911 multiple times while this is going on because 911 hangs up as they said it was not clear danger. Then when the house explodes and starts burning she calls back and only then they send officers and fire department out. Sad story and absolutely disgusting. He called his sister and emailed family moments before the kids arrived telling them good bye and that he could not go on without having his kids in his life, so he took his and their life.

The 911 call from the social worker in the Powell case is infuriating. The operator is like "lol cool why are you so upset silly broad" while this poor woman is desperately trying to save them. The guy was "reprimanded" but now owns his colossal f-up, has apologized, and trains other first responders on burnout and compassion fatigue so they don't screw up like he did.

and no I have no idea why I love crime stories so much but I DO OKAY leave me and my ID Network and Dateline and murder podcasts and Criminal Minds and SVU alone.

On a lighter note someone in my office abbreviated a client name as *** in all our files. Seems like...maybe...should have thought about that...

Started a little "Red Dawn" like war in our local Middle School Facebook group a few weeks ago about needing to go back to school. Since then, I've had multiple people come up to me around town and say thank you for fighting the good fight. And my Facebook inbox has been flooded with messages from parents who wish to remain anonymous but completely agree.

Put a little pep in my step. WOLVERINES!!!

Friday Afternoon Randoms Dump:

- Fall foliage is really starting to pop in South-Central right now. For all of the other BS this year has thrown at us, at least we get a nice, long traditional fall. Just like when I was kid.

- Speaking of being a kid, do y’all remember those kid gambling machines where you put in a quarter and those sliders would push piles of quarters to the edge like a bulldozer? I’d always sit there staring, trying to find the precise timing to get the “jackpot” to fall. Just one more quarter, mom. Probably how many of us became gambling addicts tbh.

Also, ^^^^ could be where a lot of our change shortage is. Some carny in rural New Mexico is probably Scrooge McDuck diving into a dense pile of musty, faded 1980-1990 issued quarter dollars.

- Anybody else do a quick wiki search of John Cougar Mellencamp to see what his birth name is? I was expecting a plot twist and didn’t get it.

- What’s the rule on wearing mismatched brands of athletic wear? My son wears me out if I go out in Adidas shorts with an Under Armor pullover and Nike shoes. I argue that wearing the same brand of everything make you look like a try-hard doucher but what do I know?

- Been going through tons of old stuff at my mom and dad’s. So many memories. My favorite takeaways have been dad’s good bourbon and a Dumas Walker t-shirt. Will be rocking that bad boy very soon.

- Stoops with a statement game tomorrow. Send that crazy Pirate-Wizard back to that uninspiring, agricultural hellhole wishing he was still on his boat in The Keys.

- Speaking of The Keys, where’s Rogue?
